My daughter has been taking piano lessons at the Academy for almost 6 years now. We were grateful to have Erin, the director, teach her first introductory lessons. Erin genuinely taught her to love playing the piano, by being so enthusiastic about music and being a teacher. Carmen has then studied under Eric Schooff and for four years now under Nancy Cox. I can only say the best about all three teachers. I love the Academy of Sound and have recommended it to all my friends who or whose children are thinking about taking instrumental or voice or drama lessons. I would also like to comment on a previous review concerning the end of year recital. As the photographer for this event for three years now, I have to say, that I like this kind of setup, which allows the children to overcome their possible fear of playing in front of an audience in a big auditorium. read more

My daughter has been attending AOS since 2005. She has had quality instructors throughout her time there and has grown tremendously as a piano student. I agree with a previous reviewer in that Erin, the founder and director of AOS, has hired top-notch instructors with impressive backgrounds. Every year the Academy offers a Holiday and Spring recital in the Performing Arts Center at the High School. This really gives the students a chance to showcase their talents. I took a 6-week songwriting class over the summer. The class was a mixture of beginners and experienced musicians, with ages ranging from early 20s through mid-50s. The director has a reputation of hiring the best talent in the area, and this class was no exception. The teacher was able to work with all of us on a level we could understand, even with our varying levels. The owner has a great business reputation in this town and Oregon is richer because of her business. I have been to a few recitals and those drew in a large, enthusiastic crowd.
