AM beautiful spot with a tasty, homemade breakfast! And a quick jaunt to Acadia's Schoodic side! Thank you.

The property was gorgeous, the room was spacious yet still felt cozy and had the perfect view of the harbor (across the street!) The inn keepers were so warm, kind and helpful. Especially Ryan, possibly the sweetest person I've ever met. And THE BEST breakfast. They even left me a card on my birthday which was so thoughtful- I was on a solo trip for my 30th. The location was ideal for me. It is off the island so you drive about an hour to get to most of Acadia but the drive is so stunning and goes by fast. MUCH preferred to some noisy, packed hotel in Bar Harbor. Trust me on that. Plus, the night sky is way more breathtaking without all the lights from town. And it's a few minutes from the Schoodic part of the park which is perfect for catching the sunset after a long day of exploring. there are also so many perfect little local spots to eat at right up the road (but be warned, things close early around here!) Will definitely be coming back. Thanks again for being my home away from home on the best birthday adventure I could imagine.

Our one kid/two puppy family gives Winter Harbor Inn an 11/10 because it's very clean, spacious,…read morecomfortable, and charming--a short walk from the grocery, restaurants, and historic downtown (cute, artsy, full of fishing boats). A dog-friendly, free shuttle will pick you up at the doorstep and take you around Schoodic Point (the prettiest part of Acadia National Park) and drop you back at the Inn after a hike. The backyard is fenced and has several outdoor seating areas where you can play fetch with Fido, sit by the fire, read a book in the hammock, or have a cookout (grill, wood, utensils, etc. provided) in a beautifully candle-lit setting. We also enjoyed playing board games with our 11 year old (they have hundreds!) one rainy night, how wonderful that our dogs could hang out in the room with us--Leisure Lee, especially, appreciated the dog bed provided. There's on site pet-sitting offered for an extra fee. But not with just anyone! Pam and Arnold are pet experts, breeders (pugs), groomers--they know animals inside/out and really spend time with them (long walks on the beach, playtime, feedings, etc.--they treat pets like people). We asked them to sit with our two puppies (bloodhound and boxer-mix--leather- chewing piranhas, really) from 6 am to 9 pm while we went into Bar Harbor for the day and when we returned Azy was in Pam's lap, and Leisure Lee was asleep, listening to music, by the fire--I don't know of any conventional hotel that offers pet-owners such peace of mind via this service. The breakfast--wow! Fresh fruit, yogurt, granola bars, organic oatmeal, bagels, cream cheese, wheat germ--you can eat healthy if you wish, but they also have pop tarts, kid-cereals, chocolate muffins, fancy creamers for coffee, all sorts of juices, unlimited pet treats and bottled waters. A family on a budget, we loved that we were able to place our own groceries, too, on the fridge shelf provided. That said, Three Sisters Café, down the road a ways, offered great deals on good food when we ate out, and the food stand in front of The Fisherman's Inn had inexpensive lobster rolls to die for. While there, we met an Italian couple, a family from Maine, and a retired librarian--all quiet, conscientious, interesting folks we loved meeting. But Pam and Arnold are the warm, whip-smart people (add to their pet-knowledge incomparable knowledge of fun things to do in the area) that really make the place into a one-of-a-kind, exceptional home away from home--they go way out of their way to make sure their guests are cared for, comfortable, and happy. We loved our trip here, and plan to go back, often.

We were "greeted" by Arnold, telling us that we had the best room in the house, and because the rest of the inn was booked, we were to stay in that room only. It had a tiny, up high window, was about 40 degrees for several hours until it heated up, there was no water, kettle, or SOAP! When we asked for soap and shampoo, we were told that they were not included. We also were told that there would be no breakfast or even coffee. We were there offseason, so nothing else was open, so we just stayed in that terrible, claustrophobic, freezing cold room with no water. It was the worst place that my husband and I remember ever staying.

There is a gravel lot for parking, which is convenient since most restaurants and experiences can be walked to in town, helping you avoid the fight for parking. We stayed in the Charter Suite - I only wish it had been cold enough for us to use the working fireplace. That would have added extra charm! Kristi met us as we checked in and provided a warm welcome, even a warm send off by providing us muffins to go for our early flight. We stayed on the 3rd floor in the Beehive Suite. It was a bit of a trek going up and down as many times as we did, especially with heavy luggage, but we loved the room and the view!!!! And we never heard a single other guest during our stay. They have a great HVAC system that keeps the third floor very cool. And the bed and pillows were very comfortable. There is a parking space for a car for every room. When we arrived, we got a thorough welcoming from Matt. He showed us on a map some suggestions of where to eat. The inn is an easy walk from the town and about a five minute drive from the entrance to Acadia National Park. We didn't partake in breakfast, but saw many others enjoying it. They have a beautiful deck with plenty of seating, and Adirondack chairs in the yard to enjoy the stars. They keep the lights and music on all night, so no matter when you arrive home, you feel comfortable and safe. The only thing that we missed was access to ice. There is a tiny machine in the breakfast room, but that only makes enough ice for about 3 drinks for the whole place. We had to buy ice at the Circle K every day and keep it in our cooler in the room for our water bottles and cocktails. If you ever travel to Bar Harbor, this is the place to stay!!! Best view ever!!!
