We stayed at this B&B the week before Discoverer's Day Weekend. We were looking for an inn that would be centrally located, but away from the noise of the main streets of Bar Harbor. This was our first visit back to the town in almost twenty years, and it has been developed substantially over the years. A few longtime establishments still remain, but West Street and Main are overrun with shops that cater to cruise ships. Acacia House Inn is a great place to stay within walking distance of those establishments, a block away from the town's supermarket, gas stations, and well-known restaurants, but without the noise. The Inn is in a residential area near Cottage Street, but adjacent to several other Inns. The rooms have heating for the Fall and air conditioning for the summers. (The only thing that would have made it perfect would have been a fireplace in the room.) There is cable television and wifi. Parking in their lot is easy, as street parking is difficult and metered these days. They do a thorough room cleaning daily. Many reviews rave about the breakfasts and snacks. Anna is a wonderful cook and baker. Acacia House Inn provides hot apple cider, water for tea, drinking water from a dispenser, and freshly baked cookies each afternoon. However, their breakfasts are the best. They provide fresh fruit, juices, and coffee with a breakfast that is made to order from their 5 or 6 daily menu items. They also have a daily special, which might be specialty pancakes or Eggs Benedict. I would highly recommend the Acacia House Inn for your stay in Bar Harbor for its quality, price, and value.

If I could give Acacia House Inn ten stars, I would. We stayed here in May 2017 for five days and it was heaven. This bed and breakfast made this one of our most pleasant trips to date and is one of the main reasons I'd love to visit Bar Harbor again. After leaving, I was nostalgic for Acacia House and the food we were served for WEEKS. Never before have I had breakfasts this delicious. I am not exaggerating in the least. We stayed in the main Inn, and the room was very cozy and clean. I usually have a difficult time sleeping on hotel mattresses but I didn't have any problem with this one. The bathroom was very spacious and they provided shampoo and conditioner. The hotel itself is very quirky and cool, and I felt like we were able to get to know the owners as well as the other guests during our stay. Going downstairs and discovering the new breakfast feature was a highlight of the stay. We really love food, and these owners know how to make AMAZING food. Along with delectable fruit courses, we had (just to name a few breakfast items) blueberry pancakes, ployes (buckwheat pancakes), muffins, horseradish polenta with a poached egg, frittata with goat cheese, and strawberry cream cheese french toast. Not only do they have ridiculously wonderful breakfasts, but they served desserts and beverages in the afternoon. Rather than interrupting our days in the park, we paid for the owners of Acacia House to pack lunches for our hikes in Acadia. I'm a vegetarian, and they had several really delicious vegetarian-friendly options including this grilled veggie goat cheese sandwich that I have been trying to replicate ever since (in vain, unfortunately). Not only is this a great place to stay with unforgettable food, but the owners are just so kind and personable. They helped us decide on what activities to do during our one rainy day, and they gave us some awesome restaurant suggestions for dinner and lunch.

The Acacia house in Bar Harbor is a fabulous B&B. We only stayed here one night in July. We lucked out that they had one room open that night. It was completely booked for the rest of the month!! It is very convenient to 'downtown' with all the adorable shops, delicious restaurants, and sweet ice cream. All of them, just a short walk away. The owners, Ralph & Anna, were very pleasant too. Very polite, informative, and just the right amount of chit chat before the "OK, enjoy your stay!" and off they went. We stayed in the rooms above the garage in the back. There was plenty of parking, so we didn't have to carry our bags far. Our room was very clean and fresh. Nothing overly elaborate, but well supplied. The bed was so cozy and the down pillows made for sweet dreams. It was hard to roll out of it in the morning. The bathroom was spacious as well and I loved that they had EO products in them. The main house was very charming and full of useful Bar Harbor information in case you wanted a hiking guide or things of the like. The breakfast was very scrumptious. Tea & Coffee ready for you to make as soon as you walk in. A glass of juice and little cup of ripe fruits started things off. Then the awe-inspiring local food that was made just topped it all off. It was the best breakfast of our whole trip. If we ever come back, we'll certainly try to book again. I do suggest you get your reservations in early though. I think we just got very lucky!!

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was one of the best b&b places I have ever stayed in. The house is quaint, quiet, comfortable and nicely decorated with tons of tourist information and library of books. We stayed in room one and everything was A+++! I especially loved the huge bathroom with bathtub. The breakfast was grand and delicious and varied daily along with their afternoon refreshments which were freshly baked. Location was great and walkable to shops, restaurants and two grocery stores. Highly recommend this place for a great getaway!

Clean, quaint, and friendly, this place checked all the boxes for us. Walking distance to anything you'd want in town, and a perfect landing pad after a long day in the park. Super friendly staff all around, especially Veronica at reception. Everyone, both staff and guests, were very respectful of masks and social distancing which made us feel very comfortable during these strange times.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our time here. The location is perfect, just right outside of downtown walking distance to everything. Park your car, and leave it! We stayed in the carriage house. Our room was spotless. Very nice touches like hand made soap, and shampoo, conditioner and body gel by EO. Breakfast was AMAZING! Everything was cooked perfectly with local natural ingredients. The coffee was also great. Most of our interactions were with Ralph, and he was warm and very friendly. Gave us great advise on where to eat and some things to do. We look forward to staying with Ralph and Anna again.

Downstairs breakfast room and small parlor...so inviting and tastefully decorated.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Anna and Ralph are phenomenal hosts who've taken care of every single detail possible to make your stay comfortable and memorable. There are no cons, only PROS - -- Comfortable rooms, great updated showers and free parking in the backyard -- The breakfasts are to die for. They are truly out of this world. The baked goods are surreal - the scone and chocolate brownie we had were unforgettable. Anna is a gourmet chef. -- Packed lunches to go - yes, please take advantage, Sandwiches are made from the freshest of ingredients possible and are simply delicious. I don't think Anna does anything in half measures. -- You can have tea anytime of the day or night. Ample tea bags of all types readily available. As a tea drinker, I loved this touch. -- Downstairs parlor has books, guides and is a cozy seating area. Our room was a little small to lounge in and we hung out here after dinner. -- Free Wi-Fi. I could go on and on, but you will have to experience it for yourself. We can't wait to go back!!

Blueberry pancakes. Not pictured: coffee, OJ, chocolate croissant, coffee, yogurt.

(The 4th one was from Cadillac Summit.) Our room was spacious with one of the most comfortable comforters I've felt. We had a keurig machine, microwave, and mini fridge in our room. Appreciated the heater in the bathroom. Loved being greeted by the geese family on property in the morning and afternoon just outside our balcony. Our balcony had a couple of chairs with a table. We noticed the room beside us had a couch and bar stools in their balcony. While our balcony had cobwebs in every ceiling corner (lots of spiders on the railing), we were still able to enjoy the majestic sunrise views. They serve a continental breakfast every morning at 0700. Mid-day they serve charcuterie, cookies, fruits with refreshing infused water, tea&coffee. By far this was the most serene accommodation we've had. Calm and peaceful. They provide Adirondack chairs overlooking the bay. Friendly staff~ Brad at the front desk was kind in printing our Cadillac Sunrise pass for us & greeted us every time we passed the front desk. The hotel is less than 8 minutes from the Waterfront and about 10 min to Acadia National park depending on which entrance you use. All in all would return and recommend.

It was not like any other Hampton Inn that I've ever been in. It felt like a two star hotel. They don't even have a microwaves in the rooms. The breakfast was adequate. They had lots of options, but when paying over $500 for a room, I kind of expected a little more when it came to the quality. This location did not disappoint! I was able to check-in via the mobile app and select a room. The hotel space was very well-maintained. The room was also great with a large king bed a sofa-bed as we requested. The bathroom and water pressure were great. There were lots of outlets throughout the room as well as an iron, ironing board, alarm clock and refrigerator. The refrigerator was larger than most and had a separate freezer section. There was NO microwave in the room...which was a bit disappointing...especially when you are traveling with kids and frequently need to heat leftovers and other items. Instead, there are two microwaves available for guest use in the lobby. The TV was on the smaller side for a room of that size, but had a lot of channels. The free breakfast they offered was great...better than expected with a few hot options including omelets, sausages and home fries. They also have some other great options including yogurt, granola, fruit, cereal, waffle maker with lots of toppings and good variety of bagels, breads and pastries. There also had some cold juices and milk available for breakfast. There is coffee, tea and hot chocolate available for free all day in the lobby! The fitness center was bigger than expected. I used it twice and it was empty both times. Though we did not use the pools, all of them (indoor, outdoor and hot tub) all seemed well-maintained. Other guests seemed to be enjoying themselves while using them. There was a small "business" area with some work/counter surfaces, chairs and outlets. There was also a small play area with a table stocked with crayons and coloring pages, books, a small tent and a TV with cartoons on at all times! A great little area for the little ones to unwind for a few or just wait while the grown-ups check-in/out. There are a few shuttles available from the hotel that go into Acadia...but we drove and did not need that service. Although it isn't a bad idea...even for those with cars as parking at the popular areas during our early-afternoon ventures into Acadia were very challenging during our visit toward the end of August. Short drive to Acadia (5-10 minutes) entrances. Also, a shorter drive into downtown Bar Harbor (2-3 minutes) or a 10-15-minute walk if desired. Large and free parking lot. All staff we encountered were very nice, helpful and patient.

This hotel offers simple accommodations, free WiFi, parking on site, light complimentary breakfast, bikes, etc. But the emphasis is definitely on the downtown Bar Harbor location and how close this hotel is to many shops and other businesses. Enter from the main Mt. Desert St. entrance or from the back by the parking lot. These folks almost (key word- almost) thought of everything because signs are clearly labeled. For instance, if you park out back, signs will lead you to the Lobby, Elevator, etc. Lighting in our room was glowy even in the evening and bed was comfortable. Our getaway was peaceful, front desk ladies were all super pleasant, beds are done in crisp white sheets. And even if the cool weather didn't let out, we took advantage of our balcony facing Bar Harbor's Village Green. Our stay was affordable. But my major concerns where the slow (clogging) water flow in our bathroom sink, the odd yellow discoloration on the toilet cover lid (didn't bring up these 2 issues with management as we didn't want anyone in our room- so wrapped a towel over it), the bathroom curtain wasn't ironed and the ill-sounding HVAC system was annoying. Thank goodness we could regulate it ourselves. Affordable or not, expensive or not- issues like these can't and shouldn't happen anywhere. There are several pluses and minuses here- but I want to feel comfortable in my 'home' away from home in every sense of the word. But decided to cut our stay short. I know it takes a lot of moving pieces to maintain a hotel- but damn- wouldn't you want your hotel to run like a well-oiled machine so patrons are satisfied?

The room was well appointed and ready an hour before the check in time. There's a snack station on each floor equipped with cold water bottles, a nice selection of coffees and teas, fruit, and Kind bars. Robes are provided in the rooms, and the room service is from the nearby restaurant Paddy's. Prior to bedtime, we filled out the breakfast room service ordering menu and placed it outside. The first day was great. Room service arrived right on time the next morning. We ate and headed out for the day. I noticed later at night that they didn't leave another room service ordering menu. Figured no big deal, we'll just go down for breakfast the next day. This is when we ran into a few issues - we went down to the restaurant for breakfast at 930 and were told by a staff member at Paddy's that they were backed up with room service orders and she recommended we go across the street for breakfast, or there would be quite a wait. Okay that's fine - we had plans for the day so we ate across the street. A bit frustrating because breakfast was included in our nightly rate. When we got back in the afternoon around 3pm, I noticed the room wasn't cleaned. On the way out for dinner, I spoke with the front desk about housekeeping, and also asked them to make sure we get a room service breakfast order menu as we didn't the day before. When we came back from dinner - only one of the two beds was made. The bathroom floor was not vacuumed, and we didn't have our breakfast order menus. Again, I reached out to the front desk, who sent someone up with the menus. I mentioned the housekeeping issue to the guy who brought the menus up - he clarified that we would like to make sure both beds are made and the bathroom is cleaned .....yes. Felt odd to have to clarify that as this is usually understood. Later that evening we wanted to order room service for dessert - it was difficult to get someone on the phone. Ended up going to the restaurant to get the dessert to-go. The next morning our breakfast did not arrive. I called to follow up - Nicole at the front desk checked with the restaurant and made sure our food would be delivered. Our food arrived, though an hour late and missing one entree. Not Nicole's fault; she was excellent with following up with us. There seems to be some staffing issues as the one person at the front desk is always alone with seemingly a ton of things to be responsible for. We stayed on the 3rd floor in the Beehive Suite. It was a bit of a trek going up and down as many times as we did, especially with heavy luggage, but we loved the room and the view!!!! And we never heard a single other guest during our stay. They have a great HVAC system that keeps the third floor very cool. And the bed and pillows were very comfortable. There is a parking space for a car for every room. When we arrived, we got a thorough welcoming from Matt. He showed us on a map some suggestions of where to eat. The inn is an easy walk from the town and about a five minute drive from the entrance to Acadia National Park. We didn't partake in breakfast, but saw many others enjoying it. They have a beautiful deck with plenty of seating, and Adirondack chairs in the yard to enjoy the stars. They keep the lights and music on all night, so no matter when you arrive home, you feel comfortable and safe. The only thing that we missed was access to ice. There is a tiny machine in the breakfast room, but that only makes enough ice for about 3 drinks for the whole place. We had to buy ice at the Circle K every day and keep it in our cooler in the room for our water bottles and cocktails. If you ever travel to Bar Harbor, this is the place to stay!!! Best view ever!!!

We booked cottage #15 thinking it would be a nicer room than inside the hotel. Wrong. What I liked…read moreabout the hotel was the parking was free, cottages were quiet, blueberry muffins were excellent. That was it. The cottage room was done so cheaply. Filthy area rug, oversized blinds, chairs with worn out cushions down to the springs, cheap towels, no luggage rack, bulk toiletries with no name (you don't know what you're using on your body), recycled mints that were handled many times, cheap worn out foam pillows. This is only a few of my complaints. Definitely not worth it to stay. Couldn't wait to leave this place. I shared my issues with the front desk when she asked how our stay was. It was nice she listened but apparently it didn't go anywhere.

Our check-in was rather late, 9pm, and we did not encounter an employee until we called the number on main lobby door. The employee can out of a laundry area and appeared to have just woke up. We had a suite on the first floor. Through our window you could see the lawn, and the random people that are sitting on the lawn. I felt uncomfortable with that fact that you can sit directly outside our front window. These were not other hotel guest, rather random people usually fresh off a cruise ship. The bathroom was large and stocked with new towels daily. The workers would come in daily and clean the room. The house keepers did a great job. Brian, the outside bar tender, was also awesome he and his two employees were by far the most helpful and friendly. When I rate hotel I rate it based on price for what you get. For the amount we spent I expected a golden experience. We had no valet, no bellhop, no drink pass for the outside bar, hell we don't ever get VIP seats on the lawn of the hotel. Pretty hotel with a cool look in a good location but not the grand experience you would expect for the money.
