Waiter hits on your wife while you're at dinner poor service and food quality don't recommend

I was in town for work and decided to try this place based on Yelp reviews. I was not disappointed. I had the vegetarian platter E, which was a pretty standard Mexican vegetarian platter of a bean burrito, cheese enchilada, and cheese quesadilla. The sauces on the enchilada and burrito were amazing. They had some real spice and flavor to them. I loved it! The atmosphere of the restaurant was fun, the prices were decent, and overall it was a good experience. My waitress was great, but some of the other staff seemed a little put off by customers, which was a bit concerning. However, I was very pleased with the service I got from my waitress. Overall, I recommend this place for good Mexican food. read more

Florence is a metropolis of phone stores, chinese restaraunts, chains, chains, and more chains. Therefore, when I was there this time, I wanted to try somewhere local and good and break out of the Chipotle standard (not to diss Chip, of course!) I've heard many good things about the Acapulco in Independence, so we ventured into this one. It's a pretty standard-looking Tex-Mex restaurant - what else should be expected right? We were STARVED, so we said first available, which was the smoking section. Oh well, it wasn't that bad. A prompt server was with us and we ordered Margaritas, which were 25% off. I usually stick to beer with food, but heck, when in Rome eh? They were huge, frozen, tasty, and full of 'quilla. Oh yes were those babys strong for only 4 something a pop. While he took our drink order, a basket of chips and salsa magically appeared at our table - and this was still less than a minute after being seated, so they were already doing well. The salsa was some quality stuff. They have a pretty large menu and I'll admit, I hadn't had Mexican in what seemed like years, so I was almost lost when it came to ordering. There were a few different Enchiladas where you chose between beans or rice (one came with both), and I ordered the Enchiladas with guac. One pork, one beef, and one chicken. The pork was by far the best, followed by the chicken, and the beef was okay. They were freakin good, I'll just be sure to not get beef next time. For many years I had been plagued by the cold hearted fact that I just could not find a decent Mexican restaurant in NKY. I had tried just about every restaurant north of I-275 but when I moved to Florence a group of us when to Acapulco when it was located at the Ramada Inn off of 42. This was awhile ago for those of you that can remember it being there, five years ago I think...maybe six. They cramped all of that delicious, spicy goodness into that little tiny space and made the best of. I weenied out and just got the tacos since I had already caved into the devastating fact that Kentucky could not produce a quality Mexican restaurant. The tacos were surprisingly fantastic! In shock, I thought perhaps it was just the tacos so I decided to make the short car trip back to the restaurant the next day to try something different. I ordered the Enchiladas Verdes and it has fondly become one of my all time favorite meals. In short, I'm hooked. My husband and I go here at least once a week and we literally start to crave Acapulcos. I have ordered dozens of different items off of their menu and have never once been disappointed by what I received. The staff is friendly and hilarious and I have to give major props to the waiter who carries all of the dishes up his arm right up to his chin. When the moved to their new location on Connector Drive not only did they triple their space but they were able to use their creative licenses and paint beautiful murals on the walls. I like what they've done with the place. It's not in your face like some of the other places are. It's cozy and they usually always have a game on the TV. Their mile high margaritas are to die for as are their dinner and lunch specials. They have the best salsa I've ever had from a restaurant if you like that picante style like my husband and I do. I don't like that chunky pico style with all of the onions and other questionable green stuff. It's also relieving that they went to all NON SMOKING since finding a seat in the non-smoking area was a challenge at dinner time. They get good business for a reason, folks. Some of the best items on the menu are pretty much any enchilada item, their carnitas Acapulco is pretty freakin' awesome as are their fajitas (particularly the Fajitas California with pineapple and bacon). My husband really enjoys their chimichangas which are very different from the only version I had at Chi-Chi's. Their beans and rice are fantastic as well. Did I mention that the prices are amazing for the amount of food you get? My husband and I order the cheese sauce with our chips, order two huge entrees and drinks and our bill is about $22. This is pretty good for a Friday date night in my opinion. read more

I don't know how this place has been getting 4 & 5 stars. I was totally underwhelmed by the Fiesta Burrito & their guac is easily some of the worst I've ever had. It was dirty & unkempt, not to mention the fact that it is mind boggling to me that smoking inside a restaurant is still an option. There were two redeeming aspects of my dining experience: - The chips are really good, some of the better I've had from a Mexican restaurant. - I loved their Mexican rice as well. Needless to say, with so many better Mexican restaurants to choose from, I don't plan on returning anytime soon. read more

Omg I'm from the west coast and I was scared of not being able to fine an authentic Mexican restaurant in Kentucky. I found this place! It is fantastic authentic Mexican food. I ordered ground beef chimi with no beans. Plate came out with beans. Replated, still had remnants of beans. Waiter didn't seem to be patient enough to take my order correctly for he got other things wrong. Chimi was filled with really stringy, chewy and dry beef that was unfit for anyone. Asked if I could get what I wanted, server argued with me. $12 is more than most of our local restaurants charge for this, so I want what I ordered. I decided to try to eat this "horse flesh", but it wouldn't go down. I actually threw up in the bathroom. Waiter would ask if it was ok and then leave before the answer was given. Never again. Too many good Mexican restaurants around to go to. Recommend you try Montoya's instead. read more

Being from CA we were delighted to find a more familiar "Tex/Mex" type restaurant. Good food, good service.

Great quality food, however you get better customer service at late night fast food. Several mistakes were made in our order, which were eventually corrected. Then the bill was wrong, which took 10-15 minutes to correct. I'd be willing try them again in the future if their service gets better, however it will be several months before I do try again. read more

I have been coming here for years. I've been to several Mexican restaurants throughout the Northern Kentucky area and this one is by far my favorite. The food has always been on point and the service is the best around. If you're a draft beer person, check out the specials during the week as they almost always have a great deal going on. read more

Super friendly staff and excellent food. Free chips and salsa but have to say their salsa is the best. Food comes out quickly and is always hot. They have drink specials everyday and also have flavored Margaritas. My favorite is the Quesadilla Acapulco which is huge. Expect to have leftovers for next day. read more

Out of all the mexican resturants in the area this one by far is my favorite. Everytime we stop by we are promptly greeted and seated in a timely manner. Always get a basket of chips and some really good salsa within minutes of sitting down at the table. I usually end up getting the acapulco taco sald and its "large and in charge", I usually can't eat it all. The margarita's are the bomb! They pack a punch for sure! And they usually have a daily special on their drinks to boot. I frequented this location many a time when it was Rio Grande and must say that these guys do it better. And it must say something about them when everytime we go (usually 2-3 times a month) they are busy busy busy any nite of the week. read more

Guac and Queso are the best in town. The Chori Queso (Cheese, Chorizo and Pico) will change your life. Most of the competition do not have Chorizo. Went in for dinner yesterday and was immediately sat in the bar area. We sat for 10 min with nobody coming to greet us or getting drinks. We decided to wait a little longer. We had multiple workers pass out table and didn't even glance at us to acknowledge that we were there. About 10 more minutes pass and a couple sits behind us. A waiter immediately greets them and takes their order. At this point we are pretty aggravated. The waiter goes back to the table next to us 4 more times and never acknowledged us once. One of our favorite casual dinner spots! There's usually a wait but we typically sit at the bar and don't have to wait. The service is great if a tiny bit slow when they're busy. They have Negra Modelo on draft and lots of margarita options, naturally. I order the Pollo Acapulco nearly every time I eat there and it is sooooo good I stuff myself until I can eat no more. Pineapple, cheese, chorizon, chicken - amazing!! My husband typically gets fajita quesadillas. It is a ton of food and it is always fantastic. Their lunch fajitas were only $5, but they had a lunch special that consisted of scrambled eggs, chorizo, beans, rice and tortillas for $7. Um. Yes. I can't believe I've never written about this place. It's my absolute favorite. We've been eating here forever. It's a large space with lots of big tables, great for large parties. I've never had to wait too long. Service is always excellent. Today was just as wonderful. Our party of 9 was quickly seated. Our waiter was super friendly. I don't know how but their soft drinks are amazing. Like perfect. I know it seems silly to mention but it's that good. My daughter and I always share the California Burrito (Burrito California?). It is a burrito with chicken, chorizo, steak and shrimp. All covered in white cheese sauce and grilled pineapple. I've never had better shrimp. They have a perfect sear on the outside. This massive burrito is a must! The salsa is just right. Not to spicy but not bland either. I've had their margaritas before and they pack a punch. Seriously you can't go wrong here. Delicious, perfectly made salsa with crunchy, warm salted chips. The food is always on point and it's cheap. The employees are mediocre, which is why I subtracted a star. They don't offer exceptional customer service. I prefer a happy smiling face when I go out to eat, not a stone-faced, rushed person. Also I didn't like that you pay at the cash register right by the entrance where there's a lot of traffic, it gets too congested and you feel like your in the way while trying to wait to pay your bill. Best place for Mexican food in town. I've been to everyone in the area. It was like a personal quest to find the best one, and this is it! They are moderately priced like any other Mexican food place. This is one of the few establishments that has been a constant in the last 7 years. Hands down my favorite tex-mex location in Northern Kentucky. These guys get it right by giving you huge menu full of options, and every dish is a large size so you get more than you pay for! I think the prices are more than reasonable for what you receive. Service here is very good too, I have never had a bad visit. It can get busy but they are always coming back around to make sure if you need drinks or anything, and generally the other waiters are looking out for each other - yay, teamwork! My recommended dishes are the fish quesadillas and the camarones al mojo de ajo. read more

I go here pretty regularly on Mondays for the lunch fajitas. The workers are always nice and typically very quick to get everything out. In regards to the food it is very good, my only complaint and the reason I gave 4 stars is because it can be inconsistent. Sometimes you get more food, other times you get less quality. I will certainly continue to go however hope they become more consistent. To conclude it is a relatively reasonably priced place that I would certainly reccomend. The past few times I've been here, it's been at lunchtime, and the service has been terrible. We've sat without drink refills for more than 10 minutes before the group of waiters standing together and talking and laughing loudly decided to actually wait on their customers. I took my husband for a Father's day lunch and got a carryout dinner for my son who had to work. They charged me an extra .25 for my carryout! The amount isn't important, the fact that they don't care that I got food to go when we could have driven thru anywhere makes me furious! If they added that during the pandemic to make up for lost dining room sales then shame on them. My seafood chimichanga had 3 pieces of shrimp in it, it was full of onions! They also charged me an extra $2.50 for some lettuce and sour cream that should have come with it. It was in the picture on the menu! We will never go back and I hope anyone reading this doesn't go either! I don't support price gouging in any way, shape or form! read more

Food wonderful. Unfortunately,service not good. I have been here multiple occasions and each time has been a trend. Waiters either rush and throw ur food on ur table (actually splashing on me) or completely ignore u. These are the only experiences I have had. And it's been at least over ten times.
