I went in after I got off work around 5pm. When I walked in the dining area was full..as I approached the counter to place my order the lady didn't know what I was talking about. I wanted to order the craizo cheese dip it took me 5 minutes just to place the order. After 25 minutes of waiting I had to stop the lady that waited on me asking for a refund...which then I was given cold food and a smile. Last minute decided to skip Puerta and try Acapulcos, as we've passed by so many times. This may be our new regular stop. Great Friendly service. Food was good. We all liked salsa better. Queso was the same, Hoosiers love it so obviously same familiar taste and must have on menu. Tried the Acapulco sampler and asked for a crunchy carne asada taco with guacamole and pico and they made it. Guacamole was good. Refried beans were good. Like most Mexican restaurants here, flavor was the same. Not spicy if you like it bland. I'm always looking for spicy and lots of flavor and have not found that anywhere yet. This sounds negative but it was good. Recommend you try it for a stop other than Puerta. read more

Street tacos found here! We ordered the 12 pack of street tacos and were not disappointed. The 12 pack comes with limes, two specialty sauces, whole jalapeños and chicken/pork/chorizo tacos. The pork was moist and flavorful. The chicken also moist and carried a little bit more southwest flavor. The chorizo lacked taste and zip. The tortillas were fresh, moist and perfect for the job. I was not as excited about the chips and salsa. Both were fresh and did the pre-taco feast job. The chips were an odd orangish color and a little stiff & slightly greasy. The salsa had a bit of thickness but not much defining taste. The facility is dated but clean. The staff was all very friendly, attentive and professional. Was transfered here from CA, the Mexican food here is way too bland, almost all restaurants here serve a very liquid cheese inside and over the food, probably White Velveeta (blah!) Very exquisite quesadillas and service, our waiter was kind in showing veggie selections and the menu is very well presented. While there was not a vegetarian section on the menu the kind employees helped me to identify the options throughout the menu. I ended up getting the vegetarian burrito. This burrio was delicious. very frustrating experience tonight, my boyfriend and I ordered two burritos and got home to only one, it's our favorite Mexican spot in town and we come often. we've never had a problem before so we didn't even think to check the bag before we left. I called to get the second one fixed and was told "I packed the back and put two plates in there" the one burrito and a side of beans were in there. they said fine we will remake come and get it. then we get there to pick it up and the owner has a camera fotage up and shows two plates in the bag... yes one burrito and one rice and then proceeded to semi argue with my boyfriend about it. very frustrating to spend 24$ on two burritos and a 6$ tip for them to not just fix the mistake, it would not have been a big deal however them arguing about it was annoying as hell. not sure if we will return. best food frustrating service tonight. read more

This is our second visit. The first was during the pandemic and they actually had the guts to open a new restaurant during that time period I had the California Burrito. It was huge and I could not eat it all. Presentation was not very appealing though. Basically it was a huge folded tortilla on a plate. Nothing else to make it look "pretty". Nothing on top. No refried beans No little pile of lettuce. Taste was good. I ordered mine without the chorizo and they handled the special order well. Salsa was good. Chips crisp. Wife got the street tacos. She said they were good. Lot of diners spoke Spanish as did the wait staff. Our waitress was Kayleigh and this was her second week. You could tell she was experienced and she told us her Mom owned a restaurant in Ossian, Indiana. She had worked since about age ten. It was pretty busy. They have outdoor dining and there were two women seated outside. Temperature outdoors was 63 and breezy. Brave souls! read more

The food is delicious. Always hot & fresh. I have tried most of the items on the menu. Shredded Chicken tacos today were tasty. It came with rice and some of the best beans around. I feel the coffee is the top cup in Muncie, including all of the expensive chains. The owners are always friendly & provide great customer service. Since moving to the Midwest I've been so sad I haven't been able to find authentic tacos that remind me of home, at least until I went to Acapulco! Absolutely love this place, hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Muncie! I was hesitant to try this place because my fiancé and I have been loyal to Puerta ever since we moved to Muncie. Acapulco did not let me down, and in my opinion is better than Puerta. The cuisine is very similar, but what won me over is that Acapulco serves delicious authentic Mexican tacos, which are always hard to find, as well as their salsa. The salsa is tomato-y but has a big cilantro flavor (which I love), and always tastes fresh. I love that they also have a drive thru for to go orders, which has made picking up food during the pandemic so much easier. I highly recommend trying to place out! They gave some salsa and chips to start off the meal. We ordered the queso fundito which was made of cheese and chorizo---very flavorful. I ordered the los 4 amigos which was 4 tacos (steak, al pastor (pork), pollo con charizo and carnitas) on double wrapped corn tortillas. It was fantastic. It was nice being able to taste all the different flavors. My husband got the Quesadilla Acapulco which was amazing as well. Highly recommend everything we ordered and highly recommend coming here if you're in the mood for Authentic Mexican food. The service was also great and the food came our super fast! read more

This is a nope for me. First time in Muncie, the 5-star reviews led us here for lunch. Everyone really enjoyed the chips and salsa, but all of the entrees had what we could only decribe as a tomato paste, more like spaghetti sauce, than a spicy taco sauce. The meat in the tacos was bland and completely tasteless. Staff was friendly, service was good, just didnt care for any of the 4 dishes tried at lunch. Will likely be making more trips up this way in the coming years, will be taking a pass on this place. read more

This place was amazing I initially came in here just to grab a little small bite after a meeting I had in town and ended up ordering about 12 tacos! They have some of the best tacos I have ever tried! Now with that being said, you should steer clear from the chicken ones because they put the chicken and ground beef on the same taco! But we need to talk about their sauces! They make their own! fresh jalapeño Rojas salsa, fresh tomatillo Verde with habanero! Also fresh guacamole! Immediately I fell in love with all of these because I love spicy salsa that has a flavor and not just all spicy! carnitas what my fave! If you go here! You need to check this place out!
