I went on the safe route and just got a chicken shredded burrito. My significant other and I loved the sautéed mushroom, very rich in the garlic and pairs well with the chips given when you dine in (adds that crunch). He decided to try out their Acapulco dish and it was very well drowned in butter... to the point it was confusing to look at. Like you can distinguish what it is prior to biting. Dined at Acapulco for the first time, even though we live close by in Mililani. It was a Sunday evening and we grabbed a table inside although they also have a small lanai with a few tables right in front of the restaurant. I scanned the QR code at the table to access the menu. Hubs did not bring his phone with him, but the server noticed and brought him a menu. I ordered the enchilada plate with one chicken and one pork enchilada and a margarita while hubs had the Chile Verde. The complimentary chips and salsa were brought right away as was my margarita. I appreciate that the server asked if I wanted salt on the rim. Both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. The pork was especially tasty; I preferred that over the chicken. Service was great. Date Night! Yelped the nearby restaurants and this one came up. Visited this place before and forgot how great it is! We seated right away, there were 2 open tables and the hostess let us take our pic. We chose the last outdoor table. Service was excellent, thanks to our waiter, Alex and Staff. It's a small restaurant hidden in a strip mall. It was our first time there and we were surprised to see there was live music. I ordered the Chile Relleno plate with cheese and it was delicious. Super large serving, so I ate half of the meal and took home the rest. Partner had the Carne Asada which was a rib eye steak with rice and beans, also a huge order. So happy I found a go-to Mexican place in Waipio! This place definitely satisfies my cravings. I love the 2 enchiladas (pictured) and the fajita burrito. Each plate comes with a side of beans, rice, and veggies which makes it altogether really filling. I've only done takeout so far and they're really on it! My order always comes with complimentary chips and salsa - they definitely could pack more chips for how much salsa they give. The salsa is also a little spicy, mild I'd say. So had this spot one night after my son's practice it was our first time eating here. I got the Chile Relleno with shredded beef stuffed inside it was really delicious very flavorful and generous portion of beef. Chile itself was breaded very well usually the breading falls off at most places but this one managed to cling on. The beans and rice were good also it was typical of sides at a Mexican restaurant but still really tasty. My son had an enchilada and he enjoyed it and managed to mop the plate faster then me. Craving Mexican and in the area? I have friends who live in the area and I asked them where's a good Mexican spot here and this is what they suggest! So happy they did. Lots of parking in the shopping center area. There is a few tables inside but the also have seating outside. The have a code to scan for the menu but we pre yelped so we're already had in mind what we're getting. While waiting for our food the waitress dropped off chips and salsa which was spicy but it was tasty aside from chasing with water because I couldn't handle the heat. I did order the horchata which killed the spice immediately. Kids meal- shredded chicken quesadilla, rice and beans. My daughter really enjoyed the shredded chicken it made it easier if she want to eat some chicken with the rice and beans than in the wrap. My husband got the enchiladas and he emptied the plate so obviously it was delicious. I ask him how he would rate it and he said everything was delicious. He stole sour cream from my plate so he definitely recommend getting sour cream on the side. Compliments the enchiladas flavor. I order the fajita with steak and chicken. Everything was so delicious with the bell peppers and of course the sour cream made it extra tasty. The burrito alone was huge so eating it with rice and beans is insane. I barley finished it but since it was freshly made and so delicious I force myself. Service was great always checked on, waters always filled. I originally wanted to try the food truck at Waikele outlets but they close so early so we decided on this place since it's close to home. We ordered the chimichanga plate and the enchiladas plate. All plates come with beans and rice and a little bit of salad/pico de gallo. The chimichanga was HUGE! It had a little bit too much beans inside so the meat taste wasn't really strong. The enchilada plate was good and you could choose red or green sauce that they put on top so I chose the green sauce. Your order also comes with chips & salsa which was really nice because I was going to order that but the lady told me it already comes with it. Came for lunch w/ the family. Though their food is good, the customer service is always poor. I never felt the need to say anything because it's not that big of a deal. But today our server, Kalena, had me absolutely baffled by her lack of customer service! I really wanted the Acapulco fajitas & told her I'm allergic to shrimp. She immediately told me I couldn't sub it w/ any other meat, which was fine. But then she proceeded to tell me all the meat is cooked on the same grill, so if I'm highly allergic to shrimp (which I am), that might be an issue for me. I asked her if the cook can clean the grill top or cook my meat separately. W/o hesitation she said "we don't do that". She also said they only clean the grill at night. So now I'm confused, they don't even wipe/scrape the top in between cooking different dishes?? She would not even go talk to the cook on my behalf & refused to extend any customer service on the matter. I've never heard of any restaurant that wouldn't at least TRY to avoid food contamination. The least she could've done was talk to the cook or make a different suggestion instead of just saying "do you want anything else?" Her service was so bad & her attitude was less than helpful. They had only one server helping about 8-10 tables so she just couldn't check in to get refills, provide a plate, fix the incorrect food, etc. We needed a plate for someone who shared fajitas and she never got one so she literally ate off of a napkin. Ate here for lunch on a sunday (last weekend). Hubby and I was greeted by a waitress who was servicing the entire restaurant by herself, she did a great job. Was told to sit anywhere, I believe there was 6 tables inside and 4 or 5 tables outside. There was live music playing which was nice. She came with free chips/salsa and water. We scanned the menu code and ordered the fajitas-chicken/steak/shrimp (shared) and I ordered a Li hing Margarita. Food came promptly and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. After church, we wanted to eat somewhere close by, so we decided to stop and eat here. We had a larger group, so we outside. It wasn't too hot and had the whole patio to ourselves. The service was great! They never forgot about us and continued to check up on us. I chose to give it four stars because I'm Mexican and my expectations are high for Mexican food. The few times we would thank her for bringing things that were missing, she rolled her eyes and made it seem like an inconvenience that we requested for some items. Being in the airline and service industry myself, and a local, I was appalled with the service that we received. If she doesn't like her job, she shouldn't be in customer service. Another incident where she thought I was speaking to her, I apologized and said "oh no, I'm sorry I wasn't, I was asking my cousin something," she rolled her eyes, and proceeded to the area where food was being placed to ready to be delivered, she spoke loudly complaining about what I did to the person behind the counter. That was unprofessional and very obvious that she shouldn't be in food service. This was our first and last time we would be coming to this restaurant. Especially when people would ask for food recommendations, I will definitely not be recommending this establishment. I survived the second Monday of the week (aka the day after the middle of the week holiday), and it's my excuse to eat out again for dinner... We've been craving for Mexican food and the timing was just perfect since my husband had to do errands within the area. Located in the Waipio Shopping Center (where Foodland is), parking was not an issue at all. The restaurant space is intimate, but there's also outdoor seating with 4 tables and more spacious than indoors. I've eaten here before, and one of the things that I would always remember them for was their great service! Everybody's just friendly - we were greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant and we were accommodated with our request to be seated outside. A complimentary basket of chips and salsa was served while waiting for our order. Our server constantly checked to see if our glasses needed to be refilled with water, another server also checked if we have been helped. Goes to show that they pay attention to their guests! They also have a musician playing Mexican music. We lucked out since they only have it on Thursday nights and Sundays during lunch. Food came out fresh and hot. The portions were also generous. I had the Shredded Beef Quesadilla (you can also choose from Chicken or Ground Beef for meat options) and my husband ordered the Steak Asada Tacos. Both dishes were served with rice and beans. The food tasted good, it's simple, no additional fuss. We ended the meal with a treat of Fried Ice Cream which was enough for two people to share. I wish we had a better experience at Acapulco but unfortunately the food wasn't good and the service needs some improvement. First time we tried the food was take-out. I had the crab something...enchilada I think. All I remember was the crab being smelly and tasting like it was recently defrosted. Second time, we went to the restaurant since it was convenient to meet up with friends for a quick bite. We arrived before our friends so we waited for them to order. The waiter kept asking if we were ready and then stated that last call would be in 15 minutes. I apologized and said that I didn't realize what time they closed, and he said, "yeah, the sign is right there on the door." SMH. So anyways, our friends arrive and we put in our order right away. I didn't want to eat red meat that day so the waiter recommended the Acapulco burrito (fish, shrimp) and said it was his favorite. The menu pic looked good too so I took a chance since I was hungry. Sadly, it was sour and bland at the same time. The sour cream inside of the burrito was folded to make a sauce maybe? I'm not even sure...they smothered the tiny bland seafood pieces into the sour cream and created a pool of white hot soup on my plate. I just couldn't eat it. My husband and I have been coming here for a few years. They have my favorite chimichanga on island. The portions are huge, the rice is amazing, chips and salsa are bomb. Gets pretty packed, with good reason. Their li hing margaritas are my faaaaave! My husband usually gets the really big burrito or carne asada. He's kinda picky about his Mexican food so if he returns somewhere they must be doing something right Docked one star for service. The food comes out quick, but the servers are usually kinda slow. They've recently added mini street tacos (they are absolutely delicious) to their menu, BUT they're only available on Tuesday! I've finally decided to mix up my usual order of 2 enchiladas- one shredded chicken and one shredded beef, both red and green sauce- for a fajita burrito!
