OK - let me just get this out in the open right now. For reasons that I will share in just a moment, this biz gets five stars. But the honest truth is, there's also a selfish reason for this review: In the event I need to use Acasta Towing again in the future and I (a) can't remember the name and (b) have my handy smartphone with me, I can access their info via Yelp Mobile, which has saved me more times than I care to admit! Over the years, we've had a few cars that were more than a few decades old, and we've had to call for many a tow service. It got so frequent that at one point it seemed every AAA dispatcher knew us on a first name basis based on the description of the car (Oh - you're the one with the 86 Ford Bronco? Pasadena, right?) Usually the only time I get excited about seeing a tow truck is when the kid is stuck on a freeway somewhere and they are able to get to him - and get him to safety - without incident. Believe me - this has happened more times than I care to remember. Like that one time when the Bronco blew a freeze plug - TWO WEEKS AFTER WE BOUGHT IT - and CHP had to run a traffic break on the 210 in La Canada...but that's another story...a very long, very sad and very costly story. But anyway... Most of the time the tow truck drivers we end up with tell us what a piece o' crap our American made "classics" are. And most of the time I want to scream, "I KNOW it's a piece o' crap - that's why I'm having it towed in the first place!" But not this time. And that's why I'm Yelping this biz. I was referred to Acasta Towing by a trusted area mechanic (is that an oxymoron?) on one of the many occasions my son's latest old junker, er, I mean, classic car broke down. The young man who owns the business showed up with his flat bed tow truck exactly when he said he would. He was polite, helpful and appropriately empathetic to my plight. My battery died just down the street from this company I called and they seemed helpful and like they had decent prices so I was told it would be about 45 minutes. I waited for hours he never showed up never responded to my texts and wouldn't answer the phone number listed. I had to call someone else. read more

My engine died about 2 mouths ago. On the road. It just made some funny noises and stopped. Dead as e peace of metal can be. Lucky me it happens just beside a gas station. A guy form the gas station gave me a mobile number and I called this company. They managed to come in our and a half - they just have a lot of work. The service was good and polite, They loaded my car on the truck and transported it to a service station. Actually, It was the service station I asked my car to be transported. The bill was not I expected however they have don a great job for me and my car. read more

I've called Alfonso in the past, but an issue had shown up. I was upset at the time, but he did call me back that same day to apologize and that if I would give him a 2nd chance he would make it up for it and give me a deal, due to the fact that i needed a tow. In my instance my car was out of commission at my house and wanted it to take to a body shop. I was not in any type of emergency. I went on a trip and came back, so i decided to give Acasta towing a 2nd chance. I was impressed with the professionalism and courtesy of Alfonso. I also drive a highly modified, slam, stanced car. He has 2x4 and 2x8s that will accommodate lowered cars. Seems like some people had some issues with the pricing, I would suggest that the price should be discussed before hand so there is no mix up. I called because I had a flat and needed help changing a spare. I was told it was $60 cash. Since the other roadside assistance companies told me it'd be an hour and a half before they could get to me, it was a deal! He arrived in 15 min and got the spare on in 5 min. Super professional and friendly, especially considering it was his day off and he had left a pool party to help me out. read more

I was in a stressful situation. My old car had an oil leak and so I went to Auto Zone to get oil but I broke down right before I got there. I had no phone with me. Some guys pushed the car off the road onto a red zone. I took a bus home nearby and called ACASTA TOWING. I would recommend their service to everyone. So FAST I couldn't believe it. VERY fair rate and fast, good service. Good people. Thanks to this TOW COMPANY, the stress of breaking down and being in a red zone was quickly alleviated and I didn't have to get impounded. Professional and courteous service on an Sunday morning! The water pump failed on my vehicle while driving the 210 along Pasadena on Saturday night. I was able to quickly exit the freeway and park for the night immediately off the 210. I reviewed service reports from several towing companies on yelp. Acasta towing was definitely the right choice. I called Alfonso early Sunday morning and setup a pickup time to get the vehicle over to Sears auto center for repairs. Alfonso arrived promptly, loaded the vehicle and dropped the vehicle and myself off at Sears. The towing service was smooth, truck was clean and Alfonso was very courteous. I don't like being broke down on the road, but when it happens I really appreciate courteous and professional service. Alfonso keeps his lift bed truck clean and knows his business. Acasta Towing is the go-to towing company for my Porsche mechanic in Pasadena. They've brought my car from my apartment in DTLA to the shop in Pasadena twice now and I have absolutely no complaints with them. The driver has no problem dealing with tight driveways and DTLA traffic, transported the car without damage both times, and calls me in advance to let me know where the truck is. Hopefully I won't have to use the towing service anytime soon, but if I need to I won't call anyone else. read more

Alfonso sounded nice on the phone and seemingly wanted to help. We set up a next day tow and I made it a clear a point, over and over, that I could not be late to my appointment with my car tuner in the morning. He told me that it wasn't a problem and to text him but the number kept saying it did not take texts. Not only did his phone "supposedly" keep dying (I would assume these guys have phone chargers in their cars) but he never showed up and completely stood me up. I'm not sure this is even a company, but rather, a young guy who leases/owns a tow vehicle? He subsequently ignored all my calls and never picked up and I, frustratingly, was forced to call another service who showed up almost immediately. If he simply told me he couldn't do it, then at least, I could re-plan. But we're talking not even a peep. Worst and most unprofessional towing service I've ever dealt with. Acasta Towing is awesome. Alfonso was reliable, professional, and courteous. After my insurance company said they called everywhere and "there are no towing companies willing to pick up your car" - that I would have to leave it on the side of the road, battery dead with window down, until the morning, I found Alcasta on Yelp. Alfonso totally understood my dilemma and schlepped his massive flatbed truck to help me at 10:30pm. He called periodically to let me know where he was, and arrived just as a taxi dropped me off with my new battery in tow. Lucky for me, it was indeed just the battery, and he fixed it right away, offering to take care of the old one. Such courtesy is hard to come by, hence the point of this novella. And for you ladies out there, if you ever get stranded, Acasta had zero creepy, zero condescention factor. (which is more than I can say for the lame service that came out - with the wrong truck - earlier, but I'll save that tirade for the OTHER review) Great service, great biz! read more
