To whomever said this place was dirty, have you been to the same Accel as me? I feel kind of bad seeing these few negative reviews, for this is the cleanest gym I've ever brought my kids to (and besides their teachers one of the reasons we've stayed!). The gym itself is spotless, no exaggeration. As for chaotic and all the classes starting at the same time, it's the same in any kids activity, and I'd be more concerned if the place was empty all the time as that would mean it wasn't a very fun place for kids to be. Relax people it's not Princeton or Harvard, it's kids gymnastics classes, and my kids have a blast there and have learned alot! I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants their kids to learn some gymnastics and have fun. As for the viewing area, sometimes I watch from upstairs (it's huge) or sometimes I bring my ipad and just enjoy my time to relax - there's plenty of tables up there, don't know what the other poster was talking about! I came here to attend the Brien Shamp Boot Camp. I think the facility is clean, easy to get to. Again I wasn't here to learn gymnastics so I cannot really give my input on that other than the boot camp promotion I was doing. read more

We like this place that you can makeup the class as long as you call them in advance. They have many schedule / hours you can choice from. For the pre-school instructors, they are not really paying attention to the kids. I see the 2 young female instructors keep talking to each other through out the class. The place is somewhat clean but I see some instructors are wearing their shoes on the mat, which is not right. Kids are all over the mat and I'm not sure if they ever clean them. read more

My son was kept at recreational gymnastics for so long in the other gymnastics place in SSF. He was kept at level 2 for 3 years. We were getting frustrated so we tried Accel last year. He tried out for recreational gymnastics but the boys team coach saw him and made him try out for pre- team boys. In a year, the boys team coach has turned my son from a level 2 recreational to a level 5 all star team member in regionals this year. My son was able to compete this year and win a lot of medals. My son is so happy with his accomplishments with gymnastics that it gave him more focus in school and gymnastics. He also looks forward to going to practice because the coach makes the class a good balance of discipline and fun. Accel deserves 10 stars for what they have done for my kid in a year. There is no better place than Accel Gymnastics to start and develop gymnastics to the highest level. The coaches for girls and for boys are amazing, leading our kids to the best they can do. My daughter has been coached by them since she was 10 and she is a proudly level 10 gymnast now. The facilities and apparatus are the best ones, too. read more

My daughter went for 1 season. It was just o.k. I knew she was just beginning, but too many of the teachers seemed like they didn't care. They are not disciplined enough. If my daughter was chatting..not paying attention..or didn't do things correctly she was not constructively criticized. If I want my kid to goof off add just jump around.. I'll take her to sky zone. The whole place connotes lackadaisical behavior. All that being said.. I really wish they would have a more regimented program. I would consider trying them again in the future. read more

At my kids pervious gym(in San Mateo) the place was very over crowded/busy and the staff couldn't even care less to get to know my children's names!! So we decided to come to Accel Gymnastics to give them a shot. They have done a wonderful job here, should of made the switch sooner! All the instructors are very professional and friendly. My girls are in Girls Basic with Ahmad and he is the most caring, patient instructor! He cares for all the kids safety as well as making it a fun/exciting atmosphere! 5/5 rating from me! read more

This place is a disaster and may have gone under following COVID. I'd give it zero stars if it were an option. We have been going to Accel for three years and literally have no idea if it's still in business. We have had such a bad experience over the last few months that it compelled me to post on Yelp. If they're still in business, please consider Gymtowne in SSF or somewhere else, where the staff is responsive, organized and knows how to manage customers. They still have a few hundred dollars of ours after we paid ahead at the beginning of the year and I can't get a return phone call or email. After an understandable few months away following shelter-in-place, they came back in a virtual format, which we agreed to use our remaining funds for. The teacher ended up quitting and not showing up, and no one let us know. No email. No phone call. No return emails or calls. We quickly switched to Gymtowne and have been incredibly happy at a business that is very well run, professional, respectful and offers great instruction. Night and day! I'm now at a point where I'm going to write off the "credit" I have with Accel, as I assume these guys just basically packed it in. Very, very poor customer service. Don't even bother trying to figure out if this one would be a good fit. Find somewhere else. read more

My daughter loves this place. Good gym, safe, lots of equipment. Teachers are nice and interactive. Some are a bit young and seem like they are just going through the motions, but others are really into it and it gets the kids excited. They feed off of that energy. Wish that the waiting area for the parents was a bit bigger though. We are fans and will continue to go there. read more

I have been bringing my daughter to the Preschool class for a couple of months and she loves it. I enjoy being able to watch her during the class. The gym is a bright and happy place and her teacher is sweet and attentive. I look forward to watching her grow and develop in the gym. I have had three daughters attend Accel, and have watch the gym grow and expand to accommodate the children needs. I would recommend this gym to friends. read more

I'm quite surprised at a couple of the recent reviews, as our experience at Accel has been exceptional. The instructors are first-rate, attentive, knowledgeable, and have a lot of fun with the kids. My daughter attended the camp on Columbus Day and it was fantastic. It's an active sport, so it's always possible for injuries to occur: what matters is how they handle it once they've been informed by the parent. When my daughter started class with a new instructor, one of the instructors she knew stayed on for the beginning of the class - simply to make sure she was comfortable with the new teacher. On his own time. And Kim at the front desk is terrific. Very personable, accommodating, responsive. Love, love, love this place. Would recommend it for anyone! read more

This gym is amazing, The owners really do a great job! My daughter loves this place and looks forward to the classes every week, and her confidence level has skyrocketed. Update: Been here about a year, and we are still sticking around. Pros since last review: 1. The viewing area has improved now, with more windows upstairs to see the main team floor and the rec gym. 2. The Wifi has improved, but I'd say only 60-70% reliable. 3. Enrollment has increased, which at first was a little chaotic as coaches learned how to manage different groups, but they have come a long way and are now very organized. 4. The boys team has a whole new space with their own equipment. 5. The girls Xcel team has become much more organized than when it started, and they are competing very well. 6. They now have a vending machine with drinks and munchies. 7. They have hired more coaches, and most seem to be very good. Cons since last review: 1. Wifi continues to be so-so. 2. The new boys team part of the gym can't be viewed from anywhere, unless you stand outside the building and look awkwardly like a peeping tom through a window. The girls team also does some practice on that side of the gym on balance beam, so you can't see them on that. Neutrals (depending on your viewpoint) 1. Some rec (the non competing groups) classes are more about 'fun' while other rec instructors are a little more serious about teaching skills. Parents seem to complain that a rec coach is either 'too strict, not fun enough' or 'too fun and doesn't teach skills enough.' If you are going for rec (not team) you really have to find the right coach match for your kid - a little more playful, or more serious. All in all, this seems to be a growing and increasingly competitive gym with a strong recreational program for kids of all abilities. read more

My daughter has been at Accel Gymnastics for the last 6 years, and their coaching staff is excellent! Coach Matt and Kelly have coached my daughter from Developmental, through Tops (she was a national finalist) and Compulsories, through Optional Level 9, and this year she will be testing for Hopes Pre-Elite. Our daughter's coaches always put the athletes first and are top-notch. The gym is clean with excellent parking, and all levels of training are available, from recreational, to X-Cel, to Competitive Team. I highly recommend this gym and all its coaching staff!! read more

We've been going to Accel for years, and just now are getting around to reviewing it. We initially switched here from another gym because my daughter was not one of the "best of the best" and the other gym seemed to only correct the "good " kids. I know my kids not going to be an olympic gymnast..but correct her so she can get better! We switched to Accel and she was on their Pre-team and she got coach Jessica. She was great! Corrected/taught my kid and treated her just like the "good kids". So skip to 3 years later, my daughter eventually moved on to other sports but my son who I had "forced" to take gymnastics while my daughter was taking her classes at the time(we were just sitting there waiting so i figured he should do something!), decided he wanted to do gymnastics again after watching the Olympics. My son is a kid who didn't like any team sports, we had tried Karate, tennis, etc. He started the class and had acquired enough skill from his years back taking it when I had "forced " him to actually join the Boys team about 2 months into it. I cannot tell you what a transformation i've seen in him. It's really the only sport he has ever loved, and he looks forward to going to class every time. Both his coaches are amazing and their dedication is evident. The weekend meets for these coaches are LONG with all the different levels competing, yet their focus, and dedication to each of the boys team is obvious. We feel lucky that we were able to find and fall into such a great program.Thanks Accel for helping my son find something he fits into and loves. read more

We were supposed to attend a fourth birthday party at Accel Gymnastics on November 30th. Deposits paid, invitations sent... we arrive and "Closed for the Thanksgiving weekend, be back on December 1st" is posted on the front door. Whoever is in charge and for those that allowed this to happen: you should all be let go. You all are the reason that at least 15-20 families will NEVER consider Accel Gymnastics for any event. Accel Gymnastics is an excellent place for children to learn gymnastics. The team that runs Accel is committed, experienced and supportive of the kids (and parents). The facility has been newly renovated for gymnastics, the gear is new, the parent waiting observation areas decent and accessible. For those into competitive gymnastics, there is a dedication by Accel's leadership to finding excellent coaches, maintaining good coach-student ratios, and providing a challenging program that kids like. Unlike my experience with other programs in the area, I find Accel to be uniquely focused on the kids' experience and instilling a love for gymnastics. Perhaps most important, I think Accel is and will continue to be into building a relationship with the families that entrust their kids' physical and athletic development to the Accel team. read more

My daughter is a competitive diver at Sanford. She needed gymnastics to support training. After her first two months at another gym who said when we joined that she would be at their intermediate level after two or three classes because she already had many skills down. They did a bait and switch and did not stand by their word. We did a trial class at Accel and the teacher said no doubt was she at an Intermediate level. One week after we started, she was moved to the advanced level. Every week the kids have focused on different skills. At the other gym, they did the same things in the same order week after week. I really like that the teachers can speak to the benefits of each activity (such as strength, flexibility, etc.). The staff is also great at scheduling makeup classes, especially with busy summer schedules. read more

My daughter (age 5) used to go here a few months back... I was talking with her mother and my daughter seems to love the new school she is going to now... She told me the other day that the teachers at her new school are really nice and seem to care much more then her last one (Accel)... I asked my daughter why she didn't like her old school (Accel)... And she told me that the teachers were mean to her and that they didn't pay as much attention to her like the other kids that were doing better.. After telling me that... I just had to leave a review... This place is better for kids that know what they are doing... But for little ones that are just getting into gymnastics, I really do NOT feel that this place is the right place to start... The teachers are students and don't seem to know much about teaching little ones... With that said... There are much better gymnastics places out there... My son has been on the JO team at Accel Gymnastics for the past three years. He came from a gym that had closed it's program, and prior to that, from another state. So we are familiar with how boy's gymnastics facilities and programs work. Our primary concern when looking for a new place to train, was the coaching staff. Our first observation was that all of the coaches treated the gymnasts with respect. This is important since coaches have a huge influence on the gymnasts and have a significant amount of contact with them. Our experience with staff and parents both has been positive. The coaches and staff are always willing to work out any conflicts that may arise over time. They are concerned with the wellbeing of the whole child and not just the physical/competitive aspect. Boys also get the same consideration as the girls which is not the case in most facilities since girls outnumber boys significantly. A bonus to being at Accel is that the facility is one of the cleanest we have ever seen. Even after moving 40 miles away, we continue to bring our son to Accel, 5 days a week. read more

My kids have been at Accel for the last year and I have only had positive experiences. They have been very accommodating to our changes in schedule and worked with us to find a good fit for both my kids...one of which has moved into their accelerated tract and the other who has stayed in their basics program. Both kids really enjoy the program. The improvements to the pre-school program in the past year has also been dramatic and very positive. While the ongoing construction is inconvenient, the resulting changes have always been positive. read more

Both my son and daughter love their teachers. Safe, knowledgeable teachings with free wifi which makes it perfect for me since I live on my phone and iPad. The staff is always asking me questions of comfort or concern. The only problem is the organization with their non stop changes of teachers. So average for me. read more

If I could get a rating with no star, I would have! My girl has been in the girls basic for about a year. We got switched to three different teachers. What is worst is none of them are attentive to our kids. They just stand there and talking to each other half of the time. Obviously, those teachers don't want to be there. They are not engaged with the kids and look totally lack of interests. I really have no idea how the Accel owner hire these people. read more

I have had my 2 kids doing gymnastics at Accel for about 6 months now, and they absolutely love it. I had them in other gyms before Accel and I was not thrilled of the way they were progressing. Since they have been at Accel, they have moved up levels and I am so amazed how fast they have improved.: one of them is on her way to the Team ! They both really like their coaches. Accel gymnastics has great programs for all ages, my daughter loves it. There a little on the high side for the classes but instructors are great. My daughter had Sam for the 1st time and said she was super nice. I would recommend if you want get your kids fit and full of fun, this is the place to go. read more

This GYM is awful and has absolutely no idea what it is doing. It does not treat its customers well nor its employees. Depending on who you talk to you get different information. Desptie writing the owner to speak to him, he never respodned. They fired their most prized teacher and lied to everyone about it saying she chose to leave. The kids were SO upset---they would not even let her say goodbye to the kids. Doesn't sound like someone who left voluntariliy! Then, they promised the kids they would see this teacher at their annual show just to get them to come, yet she was not there. This yearly "show" that they have they actually charge the parents to come see and your child's performance is literally less than a minute---and you can barely see! I also had constant problems with overcharging, mischarging of my credit card as well during the time I was there. They do everything they can to make money and do not invest in their staff or their customers. This is a small community and the way they treat people and their staff is poor. There are plenty of gyms to go to---I would NOT EVER GO TO ACCEL. read more

We also had a horrible experience with Accel and would give no stars if I could... My 4 year old was in the preschool class and the teachers were exactly as others have described them - inattentive, rude, and mocking towards the kids. I sat downstairs and watched them roll their eyes at the kids who weren't very coordinated or "didn't get it", talk about which kids they did and did not want in their groups (in front of them and the parents), lots of hair twirling and gossiping and just a complete lack of interest in the preschool age group. Oh, and the amount of Lysol they spray around the facility between classes is completely fumigating. When another woman who was there early as I was complained about the fumes, she was told, with a shrug, that she was there "too early". We have since moved on to San Mateo Gymnastics and could not be happier, run run as fast as you can away from Accel and towards somewhere that will build your child up instead of tear them down. read more

My 4 year old daughter has been attending classes at Accel for 2 years so far. She started in pre-school class and is now in developmental program. This is a great gym and great program. Teachers are caring and are focused on student's progress. My daughter especially enjoyed her pre-school class with teacher Myra, who knows how to inspire, encourage and progress very young athletes. The program is designed to engage young students and build strength which they have definitely accomplished in our case. My daughter has benefited tremendously from attending classes at Accel: increased coordination, strength and agility are some of the things she was able to learn. For example, she is now able to do bridge, splits, walk across a high beam, and balance on one leg. I also enjoyed the fact that the gym is spacious and there is room for every class to practice gymnastics. Staff are also very courteous and are always able to address any concerns I have.
