The gym also quickly pivoted to offering Zoom classes at the beginning of the pandemic and continues tp offer one live Zoom every day along with sending out a recording. All of the equipment gets cleaned after each class and members have their own "square" to stay distanced during class. Another great aspect of the gym is that you get to know people on a personal level which makes coming to class something to look forward to.

However, after a serious back injury in 2011, my life that was once filled with fitness and wellness came to a screeching halt. I wasn't permitted to exercise for a while, but that "while" turned into days, weeks, months, as I gained a large amount of weight. In 2017, I decided that a change needed to take place, and I needed to shape up my life. I looked and sampled many gyms in my area; NEAC, The Cage, Rocky Hill Fitness and tennis, Rebel Fitness, WOW, and LA Fitness. You'd think that one of them would be able to address my needs, but they didn't. Most had "factory-like" atmospheres where people by the hundreds biked, ran on treadmills, and mindlessly peddled away on ellipticals. The classes weren't much better. Some were intimidating with anorexic-like instructors who yelled and taught at their own fitness levels with no modifications or cues. I tried several different classes at many places, but not once felt that I fit in. Then- it finally happened. I walked through the doors of Energy Zone Fitness in Cromwell, located at a small strip mall on Shunpike Road. It looked like most gyms from the outside, but after I entered this place, I immediately felt at ease. Friendly, smiling faces greeted me instead of a dud sitting at a desk playing with his / her phone. I was given a tour and then watched a group fitness class that used trampolines. I peered closer to observe 20+ people, all shapes, all sizes, some young, some old, women and men, etc. I was in awe of the clear modifications the instructor directed them with and watched for several minutes. Behind me, a small group of people were working with a trainer, who had them participate in a series of circuits, which contained cardio, resistance, and weighted exercises for every body part. I continued to view them jumprope, lift weights, use machinery, and work in pairs for some other exercises. It was then that I knew I found my new fitness home. I've been going for over a year, participating in all group fitness and circuit classes and love every minute. I've lost weight, and more importantly- am feeling stronger than ever. If you're serious about starting a fitness regime, I can't recommend this gym enough. So, start your journey today- not tomorrow. They're waiting for you and you won't be sorry... It's Cromwell's best kept secret- and once you're "in on the secret", you'll never look back.

Try to overlook the patched sidewalk and tired interior and focus on the beautiful aqua water and friendly staff. This club features Silver sneakers classes and is a good gym for seniors. Three basic sections: Cardio (bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, and a rower), Strengthening (free weights & circuit machines) - this area is a bit too crammed for my comfort, then the Group Room (nice space for group classes with too much to summarize). Trainer prowl the space and are available for any questions or concerns. Just watch the "Up Sell" pitch. They offer four private changing/showering rooms; 2 unisex changing only and 2 others, 1 Male & 1 Female with showers. There's also a small comfortable sitting area near the front door to catch-up with others and your social media (free WiFi w/ a password). Speaking of media, the Cardio section is well equipped with sets to entertain you to ease the monotony of the drill and to keep your pace steady. However, I've found the reception (possible Dish) prone to interruption. My lesson learned, bring a back-up such as a Phone and Bluetooth buds. In closing, the clientele, people of all ages, shapes and genders. It's so encouraging seeing those older than me and that margin tightens with each passing years. It has been good for years up until November of last year when we got our new one. The place has sadly gone down hill. The paper towel are never replace even when staff and doing nothing.i know they train people to do travel paths every so often because Everyone else did. I would love to wipe down the equipment n dry my hands once and awhile. The equipment was all rearrange in ways that don't make sense and not very safe. I and other member have come close to being hurt with it being so close to each other. I hate for someone to get hurt n they come after anytime. The evolve scale that was on the floor for years for all member to use is lock away in one of the offices for only clients to use. I would love to use it again n keep track of my progress like i use to when all member had the chance to use at any time of the day n not just clients at certain times, we all pay good money to use these perks. I brought all this up to the "front desk person" few months ago. I was given the run around and felt intimidated about my concerns which is not very professional I hope someone from cooperate can contact me and look into the situation or we can bump up the time for The next new front desk guy to come in. still haven't been contacted by area manager or owners. Texting isn't a professional way to contact someone especially when the whole review is about that person. Going to have to write these review on other platforms now.
