I've had my share of horrible experiences with ill-fitting sockets and ill-fitting technicians --…read moreBill Shea is one of the greats. I have worked with Bill for going on 14 years, and he's the only one who's been able to fabricate a functioning, well-made Below-the-Knee prosthetic device for me. There was a period of about 2 years after Bill stopped servicing in San Francisco where I was forced to work with really inept people who left me in horrible pain for the entire 2 years, telling me there was nothing more they could do. After a 3rd failed attempt by the aforementioned inept people, I called Bill, begging for him to help. He went (and drove) out of his way to do so. After looking at my current device, he was able to locate the problem immediately, re-cast me, and fitted me with a socket that relieved me of pain, and cleared up all the breakdowns I had developed from the piece of garbage I had before. I've been a BK amputee for over 2 decades and have many people make sockets for me; I can say without a doubt that Bill Shea has been the best in his field. I've since moved to the East Coast, but Bill still calls to check in on me to see how I am doing. Ultimately, I have always gotten the feeling that Bill really loves what he does and he cares about the quality of my life. Thanks Bill!

I was also very sad because because I was feeling like I would be less of a woman without my breasts. My self esteem was getting low. I was blessed to have healed greatly. Only 1 complication following the surgery. Then came the emotional healing and acceptance of what was going on. After the drain bags were removed and the appointments of them manually draining the fluid were over, we started talking about referrals for breast prosthesis. Because I'm on Partnership health coverage I was having a hard time finding a place to get any prosthesis. Then in 2018 (2yrs later) I received a referral to Spectrum. I was told that this place accepted my insurance and that I would finally get my prosthesis. I'll admit I still had my guard up. After being rejected for 2yrs one starts to lose hope. At the appointment I was thrilled to hear that, yes, I would be receiving the prosthesis. She measured me and we discussed the order. By the time I lefted the office I was feeling like I hit the lottery. Then weeks went by and no phone call. Next a couple of months went by. I tried calling and left a couple of messages with the secretary. I think it was like 4 months before I reached the owner who did the ordering, I think her name was Maureen, anyway I was told by her that I had already picked up my order. I tried to assure her that no I had not. She said that she had my signature on the paperwork saying otherwise. So my insurance was billed and I was left with no prosthesis and no idea what to do now because the insurance company won't pay again for 5yrs. It's been 3yrs I've been without my breast I've been through depression and self hate. This summer was the first time I went anywhere to swim. I only went twice but at least I did it. I've missed out on alot because I get shamed to be seen by strangers. 1 was the west I would rate this place. But really I would rate it a minus 5.

If you suffer from real or disabling foot pain, Pacific Medical Prosthetics is the place that I really MUST recommend to you. The orthotics that they made for me maybe six or seven years ago were perfect!! I really had never felt such a relief from my crippling foot pain before!! I sometimes would go somewhere and just couldn't make it back to the car because I was so disabled from the sharp pains in my toe joints. After having a very long career as a registered nurse and being on my feet all the time there is a lot of damage to my feet. The staff at Pacific Medical Prosthetic were so professional and knowledgeable that they properly measured my gait and impressions for my feet and made an amazing shoe insert specifically for ME! I could finally WALK AGAIN!!!!! I have been successfully wearing these orthotics for years. I just went to my regular doctor to get a pair of orthotics, covered by my insurance which they were, but they're so painful to wear and I don't know why. So, I am back to Pacific Medical Orthotics to get them to CREATE a new pair for me. It's really a craft for them and they do an amazing job. I'm hoping that my second impression of them is as stellar as my first way back then. I'll certainly check back with Yelp and give them a second review when I find out. Sincerely, Tom Atkins, RN

Great experience: Ashley is fast, thorough, very competent & a lovely person. I am very happy with my new orthotics & am running pain free again. The location is clean, bright & has readily available appointments. Unfortunately they are no longer offering orthotic casting at this location! I am glad I got in before Ashley left the practice. She is headed down to a practice in Redwood City, Gary Berke Prosthetics (650-365-5861). She recommends Michael Plafker, CPO at SF Prosthetic Orthotic Service (415-861-4146) if you are in need of orthotics in SF.
