Last year, I experienced the worst loss ever: An overwriting disk that is considered by many as impossible to recover. I lost all my datas from my hard drive LaCie Rugged by plugging in my PC while processing an installation. I'm from France and I asked and sent the disk to the best companies in France but no one succeeded. So I decided to send it to the very best in the world. First, I sent it to Gillware but they failed. I called DiskSavers Data Recovery in Los Angeles but they couldn't garrantee me that operation will work whereas charging me anyway. So I decided to contact Ace Data Recovery and they assured me that the rate of success of the operation was very high as they have their own homemade software and they will not charge me if the operation failed. 5 stars! I had heart palpitations when my external Western Digital (WD) Passport hard drive for my Mac failed me after only 2 years. I called WD, they sent me (free of charge) a new USB 3.0 cable thinking this could be the culprit. For some people the cable is the issue. I plugged the new cable in and I still couldn't access or see the external hard drive on my desktop. As luck would have it . . . I had bigger issues that needed attention. So, I called WD again and they gave me a few names of reputable data recovery businesses in my area (DC) that may be able to help me out. I googled a few of the companies and read many company reviews. After my on-line search I called and talked to an ACE Data Recovery representative. This company really saved my a$$. And a contract. For the past month or two I had deviated from creating a backup and had been busy working and editing and putting in long days, (No excuse), and had not copied the final edits of my images to another backup location. Idiot. Then my drive failed and I lost hours of editing for a few recent shoots. I inadvertently deleted all of my files under My Documents on my desktop computer. I'm talking ALL and thousands of files. Naturally I was distraught and heartbroken that the most important documents of my life were gone. I called my go-to computer expert and he recommended Ace. My computer died and took both drives with it. I wasn't concerned about the operating system and programs on the SSD but my 2TB HDD had all my files, photos, designs for woodworking and inlay work, plus a few thousand dollars of software with license keys. We had them recover data from a RAID5 configuration, after we suffered mechanical failures on 2 drives. Their service was quick and thorough, with them recovering all the data off the drives that we had requested. This is the second time that I've had to use ACE Data Recovery, once was to restore 1TB of photos and just recently was to restore almost is much file data from a disk that had failed. In both cases all data was restored in a very reasonable amount of time. I would recommend to use them if there is ever a reason to restore data from a hard disk.
