Fortunately/unfortunately, my iPhone's microphone had stopped working just the day before, meaning that I could hear people talking but they couldn't hear me, so I had a chance to give Tech Lab a try. The building is very Columbia City-ish with plenty of parking. Inside, there were large screens posting info about their vast services (don't judge them about the extra "L" in the word "follow"--they're going to fix it. It's not nearly as noticeable as when a Chinese menu has the word "shrimps" on it.) I was greeted by Charles, who looked very smart--and not just because he was wearing glasses. I told him about my dilemma--my new Hans Solo in carbonite case didn't protect my phone from a fall and phone back itself cracked. I attribute it to the fact that Hans was in carbonite. If his hands and legs were free, I'm sure Hans would have been able to shoulder-roll onto the floor. After some entertaining banter, I left Hans in good hands with Charles. I was given an initial quote and an ETA. He even called me partway through to tell me that he tested my phone parts in other phones and other parts into my phone to see if he could isolate the issue. Awesome. I was just thinking he would see the part was broken and replace it--but he went above and beyond at no initial cost. When he called later, he sounded apologetically grim: My motherboard was damaged. The motherboardin' motherboard. A death sentence to something replaceable like an iPhone. Apple had told me that my phone could be upgraded for $150 (but I'm waiting for the Fiiiiiiiiiive!) so I'm going to wait until I can't tolerate not talking on the phone. This may be a good time for me to work on my ESP skills anyways. Even more amazing, my final bill was less than HALF the original quote that I was given. And it wasn't the lower bill that blew me away, it was the goodwill behind it. I felt the love *fist pump* So in conclusion, this is the place to be. So clear out the [*ahem*] questionable content on your devices and bring 'em on down. Don't forget to "like" them on Facebook so you can get $5 off of your first service with them. Looked them up here on yelp, read the reviews, and called them to make sure they seemed normal. I dropped off my iPhone, picked it up a couple of hours later, and it was perfect! On top of that, this is only 1 of 2 certified places that can repair my Lenovo laptop and I had to drive hours to just pick up and drop off my laptop. They offer shipping, but that's more money out of your pocket for them to use on top of the diagnosis cost, repair costs, and cost for any other supplies. Whenever I asked for a time estimate on how long it would take to diagnose my laptop or to see what's wrong they can never give me an accurate time. They always say a couple hours or the next day. They told me that they would be able to fix my keyboard in one day once it arrives, and I bring my laptop thinking that I can wait there a couple hours for them to fix it and then they tell me that they can't guarantee that will be done that day. I literally drove all the way home to get a phone call saying that my laptop was ready to pick up! I could had waited if it was only going to take a couple hours oh, but they couldn't tell me. They definitely do not speak the customers language or put them first. I feel like they're more in it for the money then going above and beyond for customers. I've literally wasted hours of driving back and forth just to get my laptop keyboard fixed. When I finally received my laptop, they fixed the problem, BUT added another irrelevant problem! My laptop's battery now isn't being detected by the system and isn't charging and has to be connected to an adapter at all times to function. Now I have to pay another trip to Redmond to fix this new problem! Absolutely more inconvenience on my plate! Don't be surprised if you bring your laptop here and get it back with another problem, because that's what happened to me.

They have knowledgeable staff, and you can expect to get better service than if you went somewhere like Best Buy. Certainly, with the higher quality, you will end up paying more for it. I've purchased computers and parts as well as taken my older devices in to be fixed. They are very clear upfront about the cost, so there are no surprises when you get the bill. In particular, my experience with the service department has been phenomenal! My computer wasn't working, so I took in to get checked out where it was quickly diagnosed as a hard drive failure. The guy I was working with, Pat, worked with me to replace the hard drive, and now my computer is as good as new! When my family purchased a new laptop, Matthew helped my mom figure out the optimal machine for her small business. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and got her laptop all set up for her. She loves it! I'd highly recommend Hard Drives Northwest for the quality they provide.

I could drone on about what they fixed, etc., but the fact is that in my nearly 25 years here, I seldom get this kind of service. Every person there is great-respectful, honest, and sometimes even funny. They actually communicate with you and tell you usually within a half hour how long something will take to fix. And here's a shocker for Seattle, they'll tell you if they've encountered another problem that may take longer/and or that it wouldn't be worth fixing. The bottom line is, if I could build a large company that fixes devices, I would start with Jet City as the model, and build every store exactly like it. A successful organizationIt starts with the people it hires. They have that locked in at Jet City.
