TL;DR Version: Excellent home baked bread, two meals for the price of one. Full Version: As mentioned, Ace has good food at good prices. There are a few places locally where you can get a cheaper breakfast, and a few places where you can get a bigger breakfast, but I've yet to find one with a cheaper, bigger breakfast on offer. I usually end up leaving with breakfast for the following day. On top of that, they have excellent home-baked bread, which they use for everything you'd expect; toast, French toast, sandwiches, etc. They'll even sell you a loaf if you ask nicely, which I've done more than once. read more

There is a reason they haven't gotten a positive review in over a year!!!! found long black hair on my sandwich after taking a bite! I am disgusted. they close rather early so I had no chance of returning for a refund but plan to make it in tomorrow morning. Very unsanitary. Not sure how a hair so long was not seen before packaging the sandwich Follow up- called today and was told I should've called yesterday and then she began to get defensive stating I knew what time they closed and should've brought it back yesterday. You'd likely drive past this diner without giving it a second thought. But the sign reading 'homemade bread' caught my attention. After fasting for a blood test this morning, I said to T, "let's give Ace a try." And I'm glad we did. The building goes back about ninety years, maintaining its old-fashioned ambience ... or what one might consider lack thereof. The menu is more limited than what you'd find in contemporary diners, but they had what I wanted, a western omelet. Served with coarse buttered grits -- delicious! -- the omelet was better (and cheaper!) than what I ordered in Florida's popular "House of Omelets." So, dummy me, I didn't take a photo of the bread that brought me in, in the first place! (I was preoccupied with a phone call.) Eggs come with two thick slices of pre-buttered white bread toast, which I'm guessing makes excellent French toast. The diner is open for breakfast and lunch. While it wasn't busy mid-morning, takeout orders were flying out the door. Apparently Ace Diner is no secret to locals. read more

I wanted a good breakfast but, didn't feel like cooking myself so I decided to order out. I've order from Ace Diner a few times, and was never disappointed. I placed an order for some good ole Cream Chipped Beef with Home Fries. Home Fries were cooked decent, but bland. Cream Chipped Beef, just did not do it for me. It wasn't enough Cream Chipped Beef for both pieces of toast. This platter was not worth 16.00. read more

Awesome diner in Overbook on Lancaster. Doesn't look like much from outside, but inside it's clean, bright, and inviting. They do a constant stream of takeout breakfasts, they are humping! I ordered the three stack of pancakes, with bacon. They have a wide variety of breakfast meats to choose from. Pricing is extremely decent, and our server was friendly and helpful. Definitely the best breakfast spot on this side of town. read more

You know, a place where folks frequent so much they turn into family? Everybody knows everything about everyone. We heard convos across the diner and it felt like home. Our meals were served pretty quick, piping hot. We grubbed as we discussed the Eagles in the Super Bowl. That's of course the talk of this town these days. My daughter had two huge pancakes and worshipped every bite. I had eggs, bacon and home fries with onions. Our waitress was super sweet and we were in and out in less than 30 mins and under $20. It's a dive diner, but the bread is homemade and delicious! The sausage is as well! My mom used to go after church on Sundays and get a platter of grits, sausage and eggs and that was our happy brunch! Shame you can't buy the sausage by itself, cause I'd likely have a stash of it in my freezer! I've never had a sandwich, but I can eat the bread with just butter with no problem! read more

Just experienced one of the Best down home breakfasts I've had in a very long time. The service was fast, efficient, friendly and genuine. Tanya was our server and was fabulous. Ace Diner used to be amazing each and every time I ordered which was frequent! Now they have fell off horribly especially on their potatoes! I believe its the same owners and perhaps just same family of owners but Ace breakfast always stood out and mimicked "southern like grandma make's breakfasts" Now food taste like their local competitors if you catch my drift, most breakfast joints are owned by Asian Americans and have similar taste not sure its the grease or what.. Don't be fooled by the humble appearance of this restaurant. Just let the food do all the talking and I assure you that you will not be disappointed. This may be one one of the best breakfast joints in the Philadelphia area. I ordered a scrambled egg platter with home fries, bacon and their home baked bread. Everything was very fresh and cooked perfectly. The home fries were perfectly crispy, unlike most diners I'm Philly. Their homemade bread is thick and fluffy. Their homemade bread is totally worth the calories, treat yo'self and get a breakfast sandwich (I'm partial to the ham+over-easy egg+cheese variety with mayo and tomato). A O-K! Just like the Rating says. I like Ace's Diner. It's local and has good food. I absolutely LOVE the homemade bread... I even ask for the homemade toast with an order of pancakes... It's no Ihop, but the service is okay, the food is good, and it's a nice place to catch a quick breakfast early or late but earlier the better. The service on the other hand is not that great, it's not the worse ever, but it's surely NOT the greatest. It's small in Ace Diner, but the booths are average size. The seating is all booths which is good, and you can sit at the counter as well. Sometimes they don't answer when you call over the phone, and sometimes your food isn't put on until you get there. They aren't open on Sundays, but they do have an off-the-street parking lot. So nothing fancy here, just great food, okay service ( don't expect much ). read more

My boyfriend and I discovered this place one Saturday morning and we are so glad that we did! We both got turkey bacon with cheese, onions, green peppers, and butter on their home made bread and it was amazing! The bread and the turkey bacon perfectly made. If you are driving up or down lancaster and find this spot, you have to stop in. P.S. From the outside, this diner doesn't look very fancy in the least. I ordered the 3 slide with bacon and 1 egg on the side, and it was almost too much, but the French toast is so delicious, I pounded it down. I don't know what sort of syrup they're serving, but it's nice a thick (not runny like some of those breakfast chain joints).
