This really is as good as it gets! They have a great selection of all sorts of stuff! The coffee mugs I wanted were less at macys... They price matched, honored a macys coupon??? And ordered more in the colors I wanted! I'm having some major back problems.. I called to see if they had a couple of things I needed.. They rounded them up for me and put them at the front so I can quickly get in and pick them up. And all employees are friendly and happy to help. Came into this location a year and a half ago to look for sockets, which they have a poor selection of. This location has a poor selection of several things I go looking for, such a respirators, tools. Etc. But it's only a mile from home so it's worth checking before hitting up a real store like home depot or the auto parts store. Not only do they have a poor selection the stuff they sell has a crazy high mark up probably because it's in highlands ranch. Anyways. They didn't have what I needed but the staff was super friendly and waking me through the store and helping me look for what I need. ...I notice they are selling my favorite energy drink, bawls guarana. By this time they are directing me to a kiosk by the entrance and essentially beg me to answer a questionnaire on the kiosk about their customer service they told me they needed to reach a certain score and they wanted me to basically give them five stars on everything. So I did. And I regret it. I ask if I can order a case of the energy drink. the two associates who were kissing up are clueless so they say oh we could ask the Manager who was in earshot counting money, but seemed apprehensive about it, and said they could ask the cashier instead because the manger was probably busy. I'm noticing the cashier they want help from has a line of customers waiting to get rung Up. the manger who could hear us asks the associate what he needed without even looking up from thre cash register, he sheepishly asks him about what I needed. The manager half jokingly states that he is really busy then engages me. He writes. Me up a special order. And gives me ten percent off when I asked if it was going to be any cheaper by ordering a whole case. Long story short they get a case a year and a half and a different manager later. We brought our screens there to have them replaced. When we got home and put them in, the tabs pulled right out. We brought them back to have them fixed and a person that works at a different Ace store told us the tabs will keep coming out unless you rebuild the entire frame. So we did that. Picked them up today and every single screen, a total of 8, did not fit our windows. Some were off a 1/4 inch and some were off inches. We brought them back and asked for our old screens back. They only had 5 frames of our old ones that were salvageable. I showed Logan (Ace Employee) how off the old and new ones were and all he said was "there was a lot of people working on them". They did give us credit for the original batch of screens we brought in, but now I have to have a company come out and measure and build for 3 screens that we didn't get back from Ace. The service in the screen area is horrible and score 5 stars for lack of pride in their workmanship. We will never shop there again. read more

As we were waiting in one of two lines open, with about 30 people total waiting to check out; a cashier named Trevor opened up a third line nearby and ushers us to come over to his line. When we get there, he decides to not help us but instead help people in the original line we came from (not his check out line). So we sit there literally staring him in the face while he helps other people in the other line from before, making us wait longer. You should probably aspire to hire more qualified cashiers. read more

I actually really enjoy how large this ace hardware is in comparison to the other ones around town. They have a huge selection of lawn and garden which I enjoy a lot. The only down side is the smell of fertilizer is so strong in there that I felt like I was going to pass out. They need a little bit of ventilation. read more

I just went to Ace Hardware to have some paint shaken and buy some supplies for a room remodel. They would not shake the paint because I did not purchase it there and it had been opened. Drove to Home Depot had great service they shook the paint help me buy the supplies I needed. I guess ACE did not need the $200 in sales. From now on I'll just go to Home Depot I try to buy from small local vendors but can't keep waisting my time it with poor customer service. read more

This rating is with regard to a specific experience I had at this location. Took a sliding door to Ace to have a screen replaced with a more durable pet screen back in July. Picked up the door in late July and the screen came off within the first couple days after my small dog barely touched it. Took it back and it was fixed with a larger screen spline as they indicated the one used was not large enough. Got it home and it was coming off again within a week to 10 days. Have now taken it back at least 4 times and it has yet to last more than one week when they fix it. Picked it up last Sunday and was told by one of the employees that they would charge me if I brought it back again. Can't figure out why I should be paying for their incompetence. Had a screen replaced the Ace Hardware in Littleton and never had any problems and they used a better quality screen as well. Was not very happy with the employee and told him that it was a bunch of crap that I should pay for their inability to do their job. In the future I will get my screens replaced elsewhere even though it will be an inconvenience. read more

WORST GARDEN MANAGER EVER!!!! I bought a hanging basket for Mother's day for my mom. I had to leave town for the weekend and gave it to my brother-in-law to bring to my mom on Mother's day. When he brought it home he sat it down and the bottom of the plastic bottom cracked and broke, no allowing any water to remain in the basket. Not wanting to kill the plant, he called me asking me what I should do. I explained to him that I bought it at that ACE and unfortunately had the receipt on me and asked him to exchange it so he could give it to my mother on Mother's day. He tried to return it on Saturday before Mother's day and when he went up to the counter, he explained to me that the clerk was rude to him first and blamed him for breaking it. He explained why he didn't have the receipt and got the manager to come over and he said the manager was just as rude. They blamed him for breaking the pot and accused him of not buying the plant there. He left upset, and returned the plant to me. I went in a few days later and exchanged the plant. I spoke to the same manager - got the same service. I explained to her what happened in a very calm tone and she gave me attitude. She told me that she said two things to my brother-in-law and he stormed off in a rage. She sat there and told me that he came in on a very busy day as if it were his fault that he needed help on a busy day. She was extremely rude to me and boyfriend, never apologized and blamed my brother-in-law for everything. I came in expecting a very different outcome as I have always been greeted from very kind people at the store as we visit there at least once a week. I came in expecting nothing less than an apology but the garden manager (short, older, glasses) clearly wanted nothing less to tell me I was at fault. I will NEVER shop at this ACE again. I am not one to review for poor service, but the customer service we have received from this location was APPALLING! My sister purchased a hanging plant for Mother's Day here. She gave it to my husband to give to my mom as she was going to be out of town. As I took the plant out of the car the bottom of the container broke off! So in order to make the date my husband asked them if he could exchange it or replace the $0.25 plastic planter. Not only was he accused of bringing something in from another store, he was then accused of breaking it himself, and refused any sort of compromise without a receipt. He was treated horribly and rudely by the "manager". When my sister got back into town the next week she encountered the same miserable manager. While she was obligated to return with proof of receipt, she was horrible and made rude comments throughout. I will NEVER shop at this location again. People that rude and miserable should not be in customer service. I will gladly spend my money and influence others to go to any other store' read more

I bought a portable stain remover. I got home and open the box and realized that the unit had been used. I took the stain remover back to the store 10 minutes later and explain to them that the unit had been used and there was no instructions in the box. I asked if they I could exchange the unit and they said that would be fine but there was not another one in the store. I said OK just give me a refund. They said it would be 7 to 10 days before the money would return be returned to my card. I said I just bought the sprayer 10 minutes ago. I said how about a cash refund. Jim the manager said he could not give me cash because my card might not go through. I showed him my telephone with the bank statement stating that the payment had already gone through my debit card. Jim told me this is how they do business and I said that is fine I will never shop here again. Whatever happened to customer service. read more

I worked at this Ace Hardware for a number of years and recently quit. I loved most of the employees I worked with but there was the problem child of the bunch- Actually an assistant manager. He was never fired and seemed to be a shining star in the eyes of upper management- This, however, was not the case. He was SO rude, very hostile, and never cared about his employees. Some of our best employees quit because of this guy. He was often called out for his poor behavior but was recently granted a "field trip" to Vegas with the owner. I was disgusted. Not only did he have over 30 complaints against him from past and present employees, he also embarrassed multiple employees over the radio, in person, and in groups of people. The H.R. department is a whole other story. Not only do the women up there not solve any issues, they create them!! When I left, I was told I would NEVER be welcomed back if things didn't work out with my new job, I had lost all trust in the company because I was recently promoted (if you want to call it that) and was taking the skills they had taught me elsewhere. HELLO?! Its called bettering yourself with past experience. In another situation, I had gone upstairs to discuss issues with my assistant manager, and her response was "What would you like me to do about this?" Oh I don't know... HOW ABOUT YOUR JOB? Resolve this issue by FIRING the problem from which all these complaints stem. Not only does she have store managers and GM's eating out of the palm of her hand, she is taking over all stores with her diamond fist. Yes- I am talking about an H.R. department running a store, WHAT A MESS IT IS NOW!! During my last two weeks at the store, I was shunned. No one ever talked to me, asked about where I was going, what could they do to retain me... Nothing!! What a disappointment. Keep in mind I spent over 5 years with this company. I received a card on my last day that was signed by all employees and no managers. Truly shows what this place runs on... The only reason I give this store 2 stars rather than 1 is because of the other employees that kept my spirits high. Since the new store manager started, the store has never been the same. It is a complete mess, the training program is worthless, and their retention is embarrassingly low. read more

Purchased a very nice Weber grill here versus bigger competitors due to their advertised services of grill assembly, delivery, and haul away of your old grill. The grill is great but their haul away service has failed. Despite weeks of repeated phone calls and promises, they have repeatedly failed to make good on their promised service. Returned home today with the slim hope that Ace had finally followed through and removed the old grill. No such luck. This place is very mixed: good grill and poor service. read more

Just moving into the area, I wanted a quick stop for my home needs. I dislike Lowe's and Home Depot because they're so large. This Ace on University is conveniently located. There always seems to be staff available every couple of aisles and the setup of the store is very modern, but natural. I went there to buy some stain/protector for my deck and the saleswoman had a variety of options for me. Unless you are doing a massive home remodel, going here would be your best bet. read more

My husband and I have been shopping here for the last 5 years or so with no issues and a helpful staff. Something has changed in the past couple of months. Perhaps the most irritating thing is how the sale items in their flyers often do not get reflected at the cash register. We check the receipt carefully, point out all the errors, and work through it with the cashier, manager, etc. A couple trips ago, the cashier was rude and argued with us as we literally SHOWED her the flyer. She sent an employee back to check and he confirmed we were right. Then she couldn't get things to ring up correctly so she called over the manager.....who ALSO had the same argument with us. It took a long time to correct the receipt. The first cashier, clearly angry at US, snapped at us that "she'll get your receipt corrected on a different register" and made us move our items. I almost called to complain later but since the store manager was equally rude, and could also barely work the register to get the price corrected, what would be the use? We gave them another chance yesterday and again had an unpleasant check out with a very rude teenager. I think we'll be shopping at Home Depot from now on. read more
