It was raining really hard that day so he wouldn't be able to go up to my roof to check out the problem, but he scheduled me in for the earliest date possible when weather was good. After coming to investigate, they determined it wasn't a flue problem and so they waived charges for the visit. This is a fabulous company ~ my furnace made a horrible noise and then stopped working at 2 pm on a Friday afternoon. They came out at the end of the day to assess the problem, even though it meant they had to work until after 6 pm. The motor that needed to be replaced couldn't be picked up over the weekend, but Monday morning they let me know what time they'd have it and kept me informed throughout the day. They prioritized getting it fixed since I had been completely without heat for 3 days over a cold weekend. Then Tuesday morning they followed up to be sure all was working well. We had them back out to give an estimate to possibly move the furnace into the attic and put in new ducts to the upstairs of our 1908 Victorian duplex that we rent out. With all the hot weather the portable AC was ok but couldn't cool enough. Greg knew we were going to do some remodel in 5 years and convinced us not to spend the money twice. He was able to come up with a very creative solution to make the mismatched system we inherited when we bought the place work as best it could for now. His solution solved the problem of the whole system freezing up and stopping and it has added enough AC airflow to keep it cool enough. I have the highest praise for Ace Heating & Air Conditioning! We have two AC units that run with separate furnaces. Our downstairs unit died at the end of last summer. Last year, we had a different HVAC company come out and give us an opinion. It was a company that was highly rated on Yelp and mentioned on Nextdoor, so I trusted them. They told us that the unit (which is 20+ years old) was totally shot, could not be repaired, and needed to be replaced. We had planned to do the replacement in March of this year, but then COVID-19 hit and everything got delayed. We had that other company come back in June to give us an estimate for the replacement. They kept adding more and more problems/tasks on to the work that needed to be done, and it was getting very complicated. We were so concerned that we decided to get another opinion/estimate. Wow, am I glad that we did! I contacted Ace via email and Greg responded within hours. The next day, his two technicians came out to take a look. I totally expected the same story (that the unit could not be repaired), but to my astonishment, THEY FIXED THE UNIT AND GOT IT RUNNING AGAIN!! Not only that, they serviced it and cleaned a bunch of dirt out from the inside (blown in by the gardeners over the years). We were so impressed that we asked them to also service the smaller AC unit that we use for the upstairs (also 20+ years old). Although that unit worked, turns out that it had a part that was about to break (same part that was broken on the larger unit). They replaced the part and didn't even charge us for it. As I write this, I am still astounded that, instead of spending tens of thousands of dollars to replace the unit (and possibly the furnace), we spent only $500 for them to repair the broken unit and tune up other one!! Aside from all of that, the technician, Ricardo, took the time to analyze the coldness of the air coming from our vents (to calculate the efficiency of the unit) and gave me a few important tips to keep the system running well. He said that if we take good care of things, we could get another 5 or more years from the system before it would need to be replaced. The two technicians took all of the proper precautions due to COVID-19: they were wearing masks and gloves, kept their distance, and were extremely polite. I felt at ease with them in my home. We plan to have Ace come back annually for an HVAC tune-up, and they are at the top of our list for any future HVAC projects in our house. I immensely appreciate their skill and honesty. I first contacted Ace Heating in January 2018 when my furnace stopped working. Greg called me back within an hour and sent someone out the same day. Esteban identified that the motherboard was bad and was able to replace it. I had contacted multiple companies and Ace was the only one that replied. I kept their information and called again in 2020 when it became necessary to add air conditioning due to the increasing heat and wildfires. Due to the pandemic, parts shortages and the busy schedule Greg and his team had we weren't able to get it done until this summer. It is now Tuesday, 8-23-2016, 0200 hrs (2AM). My wife arrives home from her work. She attempted to take a Shower because her line of work; Nursing Demands Twice a Day. Well, unfortunately, all she got was Cold Water so she woke me up to notify me. Anyway, the next morning I had attempted to light the Pilot with negative results. Immediately, the Wife gave me the GREEN Light to call Greg at ACE Heating and Air. This was a Rheem Heater put in by a Competitor back in 2001. Steven told me that they usually last about 8 to 10 years, so I got about 15 years out of it, a good thing. I was worried about what this might cost me since I paid about 1350 originally. The Good Thing is that with my Furnace which has been working FLAWLESS and EFFICIENT, I enjoy Greg and his Expertise he brings to the Table and I Trust Greg that He would never take advantage of me. My home needed asbestos ducts removed and replaced, a new furnace and a new hot water heater. Our heater wasn't working, called these guys because they had a great review and glad I did. They came out that morning, asked a few questions and figured it was the igniter and gave me a general quote if it turned out to be the igniter. He was great to work with and knocked off $25. The bill was $200. It was pretty messy under the house and they cleaned up around the furnace. He gave me some tips on closing up our ducts that we could do ourselves to save money. My furnace would start heating and then stop completely after a few minutes. I sought of help of another shop, whose technician was nice enough but fell short of properly diagnose the problem, and at the same time he kept nudging me to replace the entire furnace because it was "old". Note that my furnace is around 15 years old and the manufacture warranty is actually 20 years. After replacing the pressure switch and the motor, the problem remained and the nudge continued. So I cut my loss and found Ace. After one email correspondence, Ace called me back and showed up the same day. They ran a sequence of tests, found the problem and fixed it. It turned out that the furnace condensate drain was clogged, and the water in the tube created enough pressure to halt the system. The repair was to remove the water and clean the drain. So I wasted a lot of money with the other shop replacing parts that were probably perfectly fine. The Ave crew are professional, competent, thorough, and best of all, honest. These guys were amazing. I was recommended to Greg from a friend of mine and called them to fix my furnace. The call went to VM but the greeting left an email address to send them a note. I described the issue and sent over some pictures. On the same day, I got an email back with a few helpful suggestions on things I might try first and perhaps address the issue. In any case, my case required their on-site attention, and they were able to efficiently come and do the job. The guys that came were very polite, professional, and thorough. The price was reasonable and they took the time to fully make sure the system was back running properly, and also made sure the problem wouldn't re-occur by getting to the root of the problem (it wasn't something that was obvious to me). I really appreciated that they first tried to see if I could fix my own issue without spending extra time or money, and once they arrived, I genuinely felt like they were trying to help, keeping in mind that nobody likes to spend extra money on this stuff. A lot of suggestions centered around, "just keep this for now, don't put more money on it until when/if you decide to remodel the house and/or swap the entire unit." They have done work for my family in the past on our heater and I was pleased with their efficiency and responsiveness. When my furnace stopped working, I called Ace Heating and their work exceeded expectations. Fast response time- initial phone call directed me to email and I got a prompt response. After arrival and a short time of trouble shooting, Greg discussed short term and long term options. I chose replacement since the furnace was old. The work crew of 5 arrived as scheduled and worked efficiently on replacement and duct work. Kept me informed throughout the day. Work areas were cleaner when they left than when they arrived. 3rd party duct testing was done and passed before the end of day. Documents were emailed to me two days later. My part was scheduling the San Mateo building inspection, which I did within a week with no issue. Overall it was more work than I expected. The level of care and attention Greg puts in here is really amazing. His team fixed a leak in our AC (it had slowly been losing cooling power) a few months ago. Given the recent heat wave and then crazy lightning storms, we had the capacitors in both units blow out - as in, seriously bulging and looking like they would explode. Greg came out on a Saturday, figured out what was wrong, called around to find a different HVAC company that had our specific weird capacitor model in stock (on Saturday), then came back late Saturday afternoon to repair it. Came in early Monday to replace the other one. I spent a lot of time talking with him during the troubleshooting and repair, and it's clear that he is a high-integrity person who cares about his customers. It came through in little things, like him taking a minute to wash dirt out of the insides of our units, just because. No matter where you live, if you own a home you will have lots of little problems that require professionals to come in to fix, and over time, you get a good sense of the people who care and do it right, vs. those that don't.
