I can't believe I forgot to review Ace Mart until now... This place is amazing. It's like being a kid in a candy shop for me! I went there for cake-making supplies... a 12" cake pan (big ass cake pan, btw) will run you over $40 at LEAST at a Michael's or similar, if you can even find one over 10".. Here I paid about $15. Sweet. I got 2 cake frosting tools, each for about $4 (at Michael's for $10ish each), not to mention the huge ass pack of cake boards I got here for a few bucks. You can't even find plain cake boards like that at Michael's.. and if you could, they'd probably be 100% markup. I also got an amazing rolling pin (with no handles, so you won't accidentally screw up your fondant) for something like $4. Seen elsewhere for over $15. I came in here for those few specific things on my last visit... but I was here for well over an hour, just wandering around and looking at all the neato stuff. Going to Ace Mart really makes me wish that my kitchen were bigger. As it is, my 12" cake pan has to live in the laundry room as no cabinet is big enough to hold that bad boy. I might be heading back there some time this week as I've got a cake to make for weekend after next and need some inspiration... and I know I'll get it from looking at all of the different cake pans they have available. I mean, really. Damn. Now, you can't get food colorings or anything to stabilize your cake's internal structure here- you'll have to go to Cake Carousel in Richardson for that. BUT if you happen to be throwing a big ass party and want a margarita machine? Or if you're craving dozen of ramekins in different sizes? Or if you have a thing for mustard and ketchup squeezie bottles? Or you need a new tray for your industrial Hobart-like dishwaser?.... the list goes on and on and on. I love me some Ace Mart. Only downside, as mentioned previously: The hours kind of suck. Not open on Sundays at all, close at 5.30 every other day. Aim to go here on a Saturday and you're set. Went here a few days ago and I loved these people . The layout of the store was clean and inviting and the staff were incredible - almost too helpful but I loved it. Ace Mart, how do I love thee? From kickass chefs' pants to cheeselcoth on 75 yard rolls (don't ask - the cashier did and was surprised!). This is the place to come. My favorite pans are from there - an 8" skillet for $11 and a 10" fo3 $23. I bought the (previously forbidden) blowtorch here and spare gas cylinders. Pizza stone? Of course. I wish I could find a spot for the 12 burner stove complete with wok burner. Luckily I don't go often. It would be all equipment and no food at our house! read more

I love to cook. It is my passion. During Farmers Market season (Easter to Thanksgiving), I get up early every Saturday to buy fresh, locally grown produce. I try to prepare as much of my own food as possible, but I also have a lazy side. When I prepare something that takes a long time, I want to make a BUNCH of it to freeze so I don't have to make the item again for awhile. My chore today...chicken stock. Last time I made chicken stock it was a total disaster because I didn't have the right equipment. I realized that I needed one of those gigantic stock pots, but I had no idea where to get one. I went to Costco and Wal-Mart, but neither had anything bigger than 16 quarts. I searched online and found Ace Mart, a Restaurant Supply Company. It is just across the street from the Seafood Shak and Two Guys from Italy. I'm in that area all the time, but I had never noticed Ace Mart. Even if I had, the name is not much of a descriptor of what you will find inside. Ace Mart is a chef's Disneyland. Everything you have every had on your wish list for the kitchen can be found here. I easily found my 30 quart stock pot (several varieties as a matter of fact!), the lid, and the colander that fits inside. Heaven! Unfortunately, I found about 100 other things that I want as well! My stock has been cooking for several hours now and will simmer thoughout the night. With this much stock, I will be set for the many soups I prepare in the fall! Ace Mart ROCKS! read more

In a nut shell: I don't have to have a membership in order to get restaurant supplies. YAY!!! My husband has a super bad habit of not rinsing his Tupperware and then leaving it in his desk drawer or car for days on end. I don't want any part of that because frankly I toss many a containers due to his nasty habit. Come to the rescue is the Ace Mart. I purchase 1 oz, 2 oz, 4 oz, 5 oz, 8 oz and 12 oz, containers and lids for lunch items, dressings, soups etc. I don't care if he brings them home (so he doesn't) and it's a win win on the disposable vs. spendy Tupperware (being tossed before it's time) and the fact that I have way less dishes. The staff is ALWAYS super friendly and helpful. I have never had a person who seems like they are there simply for the paycheck. The prices are reasonable for the public and I am happy they are there. They always have great deals on items I need for my kitchen too. Don't hesitate to go there and check out some of the items. Some of my favorites glasses to use come from there. Treat yourself and find one of their locations near you and see for yourself. The only thing keeping them from a 5 is they could have a a few more items to offer chefs coming in, but it's not necessary for me and there are specialty kitchen stores for that sort of thing. read more

Super friendly and knowledgeable sales people! I went in not knowing much about containers for cakes and pies, and came out feeling like an expert thanks to these guys! They have EVERYTHING you need to spruce up your restaurant supplies, and much, much more! This location is open all day on Saturdays, which is a bonus for anyone needing to shop later in the day! This place is open to the public, though it has kinda sucky hours if you work 8-5 like I do. However, they are open on Saturday. Forget all the expense kitchenware stores that sell you uni-taskers that you don't even need. This place has all the gear you could want - and at prices that will make you dance a jig. My most recent purchase...a high-quality, heavy-duty nonstick pan for omelettes and such. I had been searching for ages, but could not bring myself to pay the $100+ that other stores were selling. I finally remembered to stop by here...$30, and it is heavier-duty than all the others, meaning it will retain heat much better. Not to mention a great silicone non-slip, oven-friendly handle! Love it! Also, if like me, you love to entertain and just delight in having all those wonderful specialty serving items (need a condiment buffet complete with compartments for ice underneath, anyone?), this is the PLACE for you! A culinarian would be a fool to not like Ace Mart. I'm not a shopper, but at this place, I can't help myself. I go down every isle...shhhh. I usually have good service, but when I went on jan 31st, the service sucked. The lady manager is always rude, and I usually avoid her. I made a comment to the staff about her, and they said that she really cares about the quality of the store. That makes me feel better, but my she should hide in the back. read more

I was in need of a very large salad bowl, so I came to this business at the suggestion of a friend. It isn't a particularly large store, but I found the item I needed at a reasonable price.
