I rarely leave poor reviews as I believe in supporting all restaurants knowing how difficult the industry could be, but today I could not let this disrespect go unmentioned. I called after I was concerned there was a bug or spider in my food after picking it up. The man who answered responded with, "oh that's weird that's never happened before," then hung up. I called back again and then the man claimed they did not hang up on me and pretended like he was answering a new call. These interactions obviously began to make me upset and on top of that the man kept defending themselves saying they don't have that as a problem and that my claim was weird. He then proceeded to state that I shouldn't be rude and instead of apologizing or offering to replace it or refund me, he said what do you want us to do about it? So of course after all this, I wanted a refund. Then he tried again to defend himself and say that my husband ate the same thing and didn't have a problem. But how do two separate foods (bought at two different times) mean that one cannot have a problem? Finally they claimed okay I'll give you a refund and when I asked if they were doing it as we speak or how I would have proof, they changed their answer and said I had to bring it back in and show them proof before they would give a refund. What if I left the area? Overall, I felt I was met with horrible customer service. And I can understand if a bug "accidentally" slips in to food during preparation, sometimes things happen. I can "forgive" that, but to be so unapologetic about it and even defensive and accuse me of being rude because I was upset after finding a bug or being hung up on was rude in itself. read more

First time coming and the food was really good. We got the mixed shawarma and beef/lamb gyro. Portion size was great, meat had a lot of flavor, produce was fresh and sauce was good. The man that was restocking drinks said hello but the lady at the register was grumpy and refused to speak, couldn't be bothered with saying hello. Parking was available in front of the restaurant, place is clean, location is great, and there's a dining area inside. We were DESPERATE for Mediterranean food tonight and always struggle with finding a great place to eat this type of food in Midtown. We unfortunately had a terrible experience at another local Mediterranean spot in East Sac, so we took a chance at Ace's. This may be the best chance we've taken with food so far! Their food was fresh, filling, and packed with the flavor we were craving! The husband picked up the food and ordered there. He said the staff were friendly and the food was prepped quickly. We opted for the lamb plate, the mixed plate (which comes with lamb, steak, chicken) and a side of fries. When we opened up our plates, we were in awe of the massive portion and presentation! Everything was delicious and perfect in every way. Fresh salad, perfectly spiced meat, buttered pita, and amazing white sauce and hummus. And don't sleep on the fries! We always order them at any gyro spot and these were crispy slices of gold! Rude owner and nasty rancid food. I came here a few times, I thought at first the food was really good. The fresh cilantro, the yogurt sauce and hummus seemed fresh and good.The flat bread however was stale and hard, like a cracker which is a symptom of a bigger problem. A lot of the food just sits out on the grill, the meats are prepared in bulk and just sit on the grill to stay warm. The meat on top becomes stale and dry and tastes like, rancid, gamey, fishy, old meat at first I didn't notice and I enjoyed my meal but the next couple of times, it tasted worse and worse. When I would order during slower times the meat still sat on the grill, still prepared in bulk but sitting for extended periods. The rice is just plain white basmati it's sometimes plasticy and hard. The prices are also on the high side for cheap and mediocre food. When I got two plates the cost was nearly 45 dollars. They seem nice, they have their whole family, even the kids there. I thought it was a very wholesome family business but the owner does have a bad attitude, he has a holier than thou attitude and sometimes refuses to say thank you. Almost like he does you a favor by taking your money. The way he's bashing and bullying other customers who've had similar experiences makes me feel obligated to leave a review of my own experiences. read more

As seen in the pic the chicken shawarma wrap and the chicken gyro were identical (literally--even the chicken itself (ie the seasonings and the way it was sliced) except the gyro was in a pita and the shawarma was in a thin wrap. There was no hummus in the shawarma and WAY too much tzatziki which had become soupy and hot lettuce was drowning in it. It also had hardly any meat on it (in the pic the chicken is only the bottom layer; the top layer is tomatoes). The chicken was bland. The fries were soggy. Edit: The chicken is not supposed to be the same for both. Ridiculous. A simple internet search will show you that. And it absolutely should not taste bland without a certain level of spiciness (don't u use seasonings besides just spicy ones?). Look at owner's replies to other negative reviews and u will c that he NEVER takes responsibility for problems--he either makes excuses or ignores things (eg small amount of chicken in shawarma wrap as shown in my picture). read more

Awesome local spot. Great casual mediterranean spot, perfect for lunch. Their gyros are very interestingly presented in a crispy, grilled wrapping. The grilled wrapping keeps everything neatly inside. I got the lamb steak gyro, delicious. I ordered medium and I found it on the hotter side. Even the mild was a bit lively, so be careful. Falafel was among the best we have had. If you are in the area for lunch, I would recommend. It is not fancy, but the food is really legit and the staff are really friendly. I often come here for lunch since its near where I work. Its usually busy. I do have to say their fries are always a hit for me. They make it fresh so its super good. The last time I came I order the combo salad. It was pretty good and the salad part was already made with some kind of vinaigrette. The day I came it was less busy... and of course probably because I came here after 1:00. The service was really decent. The person at the cashier was really nice. I was skeptical of this place at first but decided to try it anyway. We were in the area and needed to get some documents apostilled at the Secretary of State building a block away, and my boyfriend was in charge of looking for a place to eat. We got here, and there was a table or 2 that were occupied. We ordered the mixed shawarma (marinated slices of lamb, steak, and chicken) meal and lamb steak gyro meal. Their combo comes with a choice of fries, Greek salad or basmati rice, AND a can of soda. You get to choose the level of spice that you want (mild, medium, or spicy). I got the mild, which had a little kick to it. My boyfriend who loves spicy got the spicy, and he said it was good. But it wasn't like Carolina Reaper kind of spicy where he was sweating. Their food was really good and it had a lot of flavor. The portion was big (for me), but my boyfriend said it was a decent portion. Our food came at a reasonable time. After we placed our order, more and more people came. There was always a line. Some ate there, and some ordered to-go. This place does get busy, which tells you that it is good.
