Great food, service and atmosphere! The staff here is top notch and the outdoor patio is very nice. 10/10 would recommend!

UPDATED REVIEW! I still believe that Petra Greek is one of the best Greek places in Sacramento. I used to love Cafe Europa in the Arden area, but it went downhill in my opinion when they changed owners. Petra Greek is conveniently located in Midtown next to the new Casa Lola. We got lucky with metered parking right in front last night. We dined in last night and ordered 2 Chicken Souvlaki Plates and a Kids Plate that came with Chicken Souvlaki and a Chicken Gyro with Fries for $12. My husband also ordered a Veggie Souvlaki - it was so much food. None of us finished and ended up taking the leftovers home for lunch today. The interior was nice and clean - even the bathrooms and their back storage area. Staff were friendly and the food came out hot and fresh! Petra Greek was pretty pricy last night, but considering the amount of food and leftovers - you are technically paying for 2 days worth of food. We will be back soon - check them out!

In Sacramento for a work trip and decided to go out with the crew to get some Greek food. So we decided to go to Petra for lunch since it was a close walk from our hotel. The food was delicious, I got the chicken skewer plate and substituted the rice for some tomato and cucumber salad. Everything was very tasty and fresh. Loved the sauce that came with the dish. Pita bread tasted really good, like it's freshly made. Ambiance is nice, small restaurant with some tables inside to enjoy your meal.

I think Petra is fine for what it is. A fast casual and quick lunch spot to hit a bit of your Greek cravings. But to me, that's really all Petra is. Patra also doesn't actually appear to have a private parking lot. Your Greek staples, but when did French fries started finding its way into gyro pitas? I know it's becoming a thing, but I don't like it. It seems "lazy" and doesn't appeal to me as much "Mediterranean". With Petra, you get a bunch of fries in your gyro pitas instead of any real Greek salad. No where on the menu does it say what's in your pita either. The rice dish was fine, but nothing about the dishes we ordered seemed special. But again, fast casual. Service was friendly, but in a fast casual way. They will still bring you your food and I never saw anyone bus their own table. Petra was fine for a lunch bite. Definitely not for dinner or a date night.

As someone who is Greek Orthodox and married into a Greek family, I can say without a doubt that Petras is the best Greek restaurant in the Sacramento area. They make a delicious souvlaki using the most tender meat and their Beef/Lamb pita and plate are to die for. Also, their Grecian Beefteki Burger was juicy and I opted to upgrade my meal with Petra fries. The Petra fries were super crispy fries topped with Feta, herbs (oregano), olive oil, and a hint of lemon and were outstanding. Make sure you get the fry sauce as well it's a welcome addition to anything you are eating. The service is always friendly and quick. Finally, I was at their downtown location which has a pretty chill vibe.

Opa! You will utter this word with every bite you take... We were hitting up the downtown area for theater and food, and decided to try Petra Greek since we hadn't been here before, and let me add, we have now been back several times. We arrived early enough to enjoy happy hour, and happy hour we enjoyed! If you're looking for a good happy hour food place this is it, my friends! Petra fries: I'm a sucker for really good french fries, and it's a challenge to find fries that are perfectly made. These fries, not only were perfectly made, but with the added seasoning and feta cheese, I could've made this into a meal all by itself. When you're dining in, they have an area where you can grab some extra napkins and a variety of sauces. Avoid the ketchup grab the house sauce is divine! It's also perfect for the french fries. Dolmades: outside of Athens, it seems challenging to find dolmades that are enjoyable. These were good, but not my favorite. Avgolemono soup: one of my favorite soups, and another dish that unless made it home, seems to be a charge to find a really good bowl of it. This was pretty tasty though! Gyro pita: yes this is an absolute must try! It makes me want the pricey lamb chop plate, but I love the gyro pita so much! If I could order this to go and just drive by and someone would bring it out to me, I would be there a lot. We all like our food the way we like it, but when I have this, it's all about hold the lettuce, hold raw, onions, but keep a little bit of tomato. It's a strange moment where I don't want produce messing with the texture, the flavor of each wonderful bite. The beef/lamb Gyro pita, is filled with perfectly seasoned meat, fresh parsley, and tzatziki sauce. Yes, they put french fries in there as well so I'm in heaven! The meat is thinly sliced/shaved and the pita is just stuffed with this tasty meat. I usually ask for extra tzatziki sauce because it's so good! Did I mention that the Peter is huge and a challenge anyone to be able to eat one in an entire sitting along with some fries. It's a big meal with lots of big flavors! The restaurant has been here, definitely for a hot minute, and from the exterior. It looks like it's a small little place. It is relatively small inside, you do order at the counter and they bring you your food. So if you're looking for full table service, this isn't your place. It's also not a huge restaurant, but there definitely is much more seating than I anticipated when I first walked in. The restaurant is kid friendly, and it's definitely a spot that you can go to with a date, friends, or family. Most of the tables only accommodate four people though. Staff is nice and they'll answer whatever questions you have when you're ordering, or staring at the several different iterations of baklava that they have in the case that will call your name. It's downtown, so y'all already know the parking is dicey. Depending on your timing, it's not absolutely horrible, and if you're craving a really tasty gyro, you should check out Petra Greek!

12/2/24- Haven't had a decent Greek meal in a while (except our towns Greek Festival).. Lots of errands and finally decided I'd just do an online delivery- Ordered a kids gyro- Greek fries- and the lemon soup ...avgolemono! First time with Uber Eats- and very impressed- Satisfying just enough food! Glad I ordered!

Petra Greek is a solid spot for authentic Mediterranean flavor. Their gyros -- like the beef/lamb and chicken versions -- are cooked just right and served in warm pita bread with fries and tzatziki. Their Petra Fries? Yep, they hit -- crispy, topped with feta and oregano. Vegetarian options like spanakopita and dolmades are really tasty too, so there's something for everyone. Service is friendly, and portion sizes are generous. On the downside, it's not quite fine dining -- but you pay for the flavor, not the frills. Would definitely come back for a casual, satisfying Greek meal!

My husband and I have started a Dash diet and its mainly greek foods so we googled places that were dash friendly/healthy and this place came up. We were slightly in doubt with the pricing but we believe it was worth every dollar as every bite was delicious. Not only that but the Customer Service was spot on they where super friendly and boosted the ambiance. However there is one individual who stood out far and above her name was Xochitl (pronounced so*cheel)! She was bubbly met us with a smile and great attitude. She looks like enjoys working there which tells me that the other staff and management are just as amazing. By far the best waitress/server thats served us in awhile she was very attentive and kind.

Wow. This was probably one of the best gyros I've ever had. A generous serving of meat served with a fantastic tzatziki sauce, tomato, and topped with French fries. For this one, I even added feta cheese crumbles. The meat was full of flavor and and the sauce complimented it perfectly. The service is fast and friendly, and I'm sad I'll have to wait another year for the annual CTE conference to come here again.

Don't be fooled by the nice picture, this was the worst food I have ever had in a long time. The spanakopita plate was the oiliest Phyllis dough I've had plus it tasted like it had been sitting there for days, the rice was old and hard, the only thing that was semi okay were the cucumbers and tomato salad. The gyro was dry and lacked flavor. Only thing good were the fries. And on top of all that these two plates came out to fifty dollars??? Absolutely save yourself and go anywhere else next time.

I got the tikka combo which involves skewered lamb and chicken over rice. There's some hummus, a big piece of bread, and a salad involved. I have found memories of all the prior Moroccan restaurants I've eaten at in SF and San Jose, and the fun watching the belly dancers that makes it all a festive mood. The service was prompt and attentive but when we asked about the spices used in the carrots appetizer he was unsure of the ingredients, we asked because they were outstanding in flavor. I offered the Sultans Feast meal which gave a large variety of appetizers to include wonderful Lentil Soup, tasty Hummus, carrots and beets are an option depending on the season, and a very unique tasting dish made with filo bread, almonds and eggs called B'Stela Royal that was both rich and light. For the entrees there was a the vegetarian Couscous called OUJDI, and to share also the traditional Moroccan Stew called Tangines, and I wanted the beef stew after having it in Spain as it was delicious, it's called BIDAWI. You must have the Mint Tea, it's a bit sweet here but always refreshing and a taste treat, the meal ends with Baklava and was mouth watering marvelous! Overall a good experience, though I was surprised given the quality of each plate that the peas in the beef stew and couscous seemed like not fresh but canned peas, as they were so squishy and lacked much flavor. All the other meals were tasty, unique and plentiful in serving size. Also a must have is the Honey Sauce and Almonds chicken had an amazing sauce and not to be missed. The chicken was a little overdone and not as moist as expected for a sauce based chicken but still tasty with a bounty of different flavors mixed in and that sauce was addictive , and had some yogurt added ! Casablanca was a fun and satisfying experience and with only one other small group of guests, I hope their business improves as we need unique ethnic cuisine to improve the variety of foods and styles we eat!

Server did offer to let us choose 2 different meats for our two #41 Koobideh plates (2 beef skewers for $25), but I think we would have been better off just ordering one #61 All Koobideh plate (3 different meat skewers for $34). One plate has plenty of basmati rice for two people to share. She suggested the two #41 orders, instead of answering how much an extra order of rice would cost. Maybe you can't order a side of rice? Rice comes with each entree. By ordering the 2nd plate, she offered or included the $8 Bread Basket for no extra charge. It was my friend's birthday. I wanted to pay, and she wanted to order extra to go, so I wanted two separate bills, but it seemed too complicated to explain or disallowed. After the food was delivered to the table, server didn't check on us anymore. I guess the restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays. My friend thought all the koobideh tasted the same. I liked them in this order: 1) Lamb, 2) Chicken, and 3) Beef, but they're the same texture, so they aren't all that different. I should have ordered a different 2nd entree, instead of two Koobideh plates. The #18 Bademjan Borani eggplant appetizer was yummy. It did come with some bread, so you don't have to order the bread basket. The bread is served warm. The basmati rice was light and fluffy, but not flavorful or buttery. You can pay a $4 upgrade to switch the rice to salad or a fancier stir fried rice. Read the Vegetarian Dishes menu section to learn about the various fried rice or polo preparations. Our server suggested the Fava Bean Rice or Baghali Polo because it is a Persian New Year dish. Yelp reviewers recommended the Zereshk Polo, which includes barberries, a fruit similar to currants. $10 to add a skewer of veggies. $4 to add a salad is mentioned under the Vegetarian Dishes menu and Seafood & Combination Plates menu. I didn't like how the sugar cubes for the Persian Tea were served. It looked communal and exposed to the elements. You could see sugar dust on the serving bowl. Other Persian restaurants serve the sugar in a smaller covered bowl. Formal dining room. Lunch specials are Monday to Friday, 11 am to 3 pm, excluding holidays. Lunch prices range from $16-$20. 3 different $8 soup offerings: chicken barley, ashe reshteh, or green lentil.
