New Restaurant Alert!! https://safagyroskabab.com Our little family loved their flavorful Lamb Shawarma that came with fries and Lamb Gyro! This small business is a window ordering service with outdoor dining only! We took our food to Baeking located across the street to enjoy dessert with our meal! We'll be back to explore more of their menu! SYOY! :D *Song Credit: Bay Bridge by mr. hong (from Audiio)

We doordashed from this new afghan restaurant here in Natomas. We got a variety of food to try and we were not disappointed! The highlight of the meal was the mixed platter which had chicken and lamb chunks. Both of the meat were very tender and were properly seasoned. Definitely would come back for this. We also got the chicken corn soup. While the flavor was good, it was too thick for my taste so I'm not sure if I will get again. The wings which had a very light buffalo flavor with some light herbs on top. Overall the meal is 4/5 and I'm excited to visit the restaurant and try their other menu items!

This is definitely not the mixed platter

Their lamb is really good. My only complaint is that the hummus was a little bitter. The gyros and platters were my favorite.

I decided to visit the restaurant based on Yelp rating. I normally don't select a restaurant because of the rating. I decide based on the menu. Their menu definitely got me interested. The food was very good. Upon recommendations from the cashier, I selected their Chicken Combo which had chicken and beef. I was happy that they offered between chicken breast and thigh meat. I also ordered à la carte of the Shish, lamb shank, chicken souvlaki, and Koobideh (ground beef). The different kabobs were seasoned well. The Shish is cubed beef kabob. They will cook it to your preference. I chose medium rare and it was cooked to my liking. The meal came with rice, pita bread (sorry if it's called something else) and hummus. I should have asked if the meats came with some type of sauce. Over, my kids and I enjoyed the flavor of the meats. The shank was very tender and fall off the bone as described by the menu. I loved that the restaurant is family owned, not something like a restaurant group. The restaurant is clean and the staffs are friendly. It is family friendly.

Took it at home and ate the entire dish. It was refreshing and nice. I'll definitely come back to this one. I find it funny that I was told the limitations on my protein. It's chicken/falafel or Beef/lamb. I wanted chicken and beef but the counter girl said it's not done that way. So I just ordered the chicken falafel. It was actually really good anyway.

I especially wanted to see if their lamb shank was still the "star" from my last visit and to try their meat kabobs. So what did we order. 1) Lamb shank (2 orders): again, i believe this entree is one of the best items here. The shank is braised so well that the meat comes right off the bone without any efforts. The flavor is exceptional. it arrives on a bed of rice, hummus, greek salad, and pita bread. This is an item i would order without hesitation. 2) Chicken kabob skewers plate: 6 pieces of boneless white meat that is grilled once the order is placed. The chicken had a nice char and looked great. But the flavor was very mild and grilled a little too long which made the meat a tad dry...perhaps the chicken needed to be marinated longer for the spices to penetrate but the dryness was in preparation over the grill. 3) chicken and beef kabobs skewers plate: again the chicken was grilled a tad too long which made the pieces dry. the beef was moist and had a nice flavor. It also comes with rice and a salad. 4) mixed plate: sliced meat from a rotisserie spit on top of a bed of rice and topped with tzatziki sauce and hot sauce, hummus and greek salad. the sliced meat was a bit dry but more tzatziki sauce on the meat helped. The side salads were very basic. The pita bread is not as soft and fresh as the ones from Jayna Gyro on Alhambra blvd. But I would give 4 stars for the lamb shank and 2-3 stars for the grilled and chicken and beef kabob and rotisserie chicken sliced from the spit.

We got our favorite Afghan dishes: Chicken kabobs with extra chicken (charbroiled chicken with brown rice and crispy salads), Bolani (with chives and mashed potatoes), our most loved mantoos (ground beef with tomatoes/yogurt sauce), our favorite rice dish Qabuli (basmati rice with lamb, topped with sweet carrots and raisins), and hummus (the best creamy chickpeas). She'd noticed my growing curiosity about Afghan cuisine from a previous visit elsewhere and gently pointed me toward Chopan Kabob House, insisting it was worth the experience. There was something comforting in that recommendation--like being guided toward a place that already held meaning for someone you trust. When I arrived, I was immediately struck by the restaurant's clean, welcoming atmosphere. The space felt intentional--nicely furnished without being overwhelming, simple yet warm. I mentioned I was ordering takeout, and the gentleman behind the counter handed me a menu. At first glance, it seemed straightforward, but the more I looked, the more it felt thoughtfully curated--each item carrying a sense of tradition and care. Wanting a proper introduction, I chose the Combination Kabob with Tikka and chicken. It felt like the right balance--a way to experience more in a single meal. I was told it would take about 20 minutes, and as I sat waiting, I found myself appreciating that detail. In a world built on speed, those 20 minutes felt reassuring. It suggested intention, freshness, and the kind of cooking that isn't rushed. When I finally brought the meal home and opened the container, I was genuinely surprised. The portions were generous--almost abundant. A vibrant salad added a refreshing contrast, while the long-grain rice was fragrant and perfectly cooked. Then there were the stars of the meal: the Tikka beef and the chicken, both beautifully prepared. Each bite carried depth--layers of spices and seasoning that felt both bold and comforting. It wasn't just flavorful; it felt rooted in something deeper, something traditional. By the time I finished, I realized this wasn't just a satisfying meal--it was an experience that lingered. There's a certain nostalgia in discovering a place like this for the first time, especially through the recommendation of someone close to you. It feels personal, almost like being let in on a secret. I'm already looking forward to returning, perhaps next time to dine in and take in the full experience. And with a menu that promises more to explore, this feels less like a one-time visit and more like the beginning of a new favorite.
