I went with the chicken shawarma bowl on rice, with extra tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta cheese (you can choose four toppings). For sauces I did the garlic and hummus (you pick two). You can tell everything is made fresh. Waited about 12 mins but the owner told me as soon as I ordered (another sign of freshness). As my order was being prepped the owner struck up conversation, a very nice man! Told me that I would like this meal, and I agree. Everything came together real well. I shop at 99 Ranch often enough, and finally decided to get to go from here. The cashier was friendly and asked if I had any questions. I ordered the shawarma combo- chicken & lamb, which also comes with salad, hummus, and a piece of pita bread. It came out quickly. My favorite part was the rice. I have eaten at many places that have served Mediterranean fare. However, there are only a select few whose food is of such great quality that I return for more. Falafel & Shawarma Planet is one of those select gems. I found this wonderful restaurant during an outing with my son. It's right next to the 99 Ranch grocery store. I enjoyed Falafel with a Jerusalem Salad while my son enjoyed lamb and beef Shawarma. The falafel was crisp, light, and oh so fresh. I could tell the establishment ensures their frying oil is very clean which definitely contributes to how delicious the falafel are. The Jerusalem Salad was well put together and not overly dressed. My son raved about how well seasoned the shawarma was and how wonderful it tasted paired with the accompanying rice. We were given plenty of wonderful sauces and a sample of what I will vouch as hands down the best hummus I have ever tasted. The service provided by Mr Raed was timely and very welcoming. My reading for this restaurant is a four. I called the establishment and a gentleman answered and he was very nice and patient about describing some of the meal options to me. And then ordered through DoorDash. I ordered the lamb Shawarma plate. It was a very generous plate. It came with hummus, pita bread, a very nice salad, rice, and the lamb. There's a Halal place that I go to off Stockton Boulevard. I can't remember the name of it but their rice has a spice in it. That is very flavorful and I do wish that this rice had that spice in it. The lamb was very tasty. The garlic sauce was also yummy and tasted fantastic. Poured over my lamb. The lamb was very tender and was not dry. Everything was great. Joe K and I consider ourselves International food aficionados. We were planning and preparing for friends to visit his family who are Greek descendants, so we decided to try this restaurant out and sample the cuisine for a future order of larger portions. The facility is located front and center of the 99 Ranch Market. When we entered, it seemed that the owner was the only one working. But he handled our orders quickly and efficiently even while more customers started trickling in. He definitely had control and knew how to run the restaurant. Right off the bat, I noticed their sign recommending the Falafel Sandwich that states it is "organic, healthy, and vegan". It definitely sounded appetizing for a vegetarian like myself. Joe ordered a Lamb Shawarma in a pita bread. He also added a side of Dolma: vegetarian stuffed grape leaves that comes with a dipping sauce, and Baba Ghnouge. When I checked in on Yelp, we also got a free slice of Baklava! We took our food to go and couldn't wait to dig in! My Falafel Sandwich was everything I had hoped for - delicious and flavorful. This is not Greek food fyi. Our food was dry and bland, and no vegetables came in the wrap despite the pictures showing it. Greek fries came with hot sauce and some mayo like mixture. We had to throw the top part off to get to the plain fries because the toppings were bad. We hated all of it and wish we could get our money back!! So gross and disappointing. OMG-best falafel in the 916 I've tried so far! Fresh, tasted great and totally hit the spot. The baba ghanoush was perfect-you can taste the smoked eggplant and salt! A lot of places either miss that smoky flavor, eggplant portion or salt. For him, he likes Babylon's Shawerma plate better..when I tasted his plentiful meat portion I noticed it did overwhelmingly taste like cumin coriander which would go better with a taco. Further from us, but definitely recommend. Oh right the Greek fries were great as well.
