I used Aceable as an online tool last September to get my daughter her driver's license. Little to my knowledge they started charging me $5 a month after that for road side assistance that I do not need! I called twice to cancel this and I was charged yet again this month! This online course took my son forever to get through. He said it was exceptionally boring and 'cringe.' He hated it so much it took him months to finish. Once finished they take a last opportunity to grab some more $ by saying that you can wait 5-12 business day for them to mail out the certificate of completion or expedite it for $25. First of all, how is this not printable and second, are they planning to walk it to us? 12 days!!! We will find a better course when it is time for other kids. read more

Texas Online Defensive Driving Course needs serious editing, as it took approximately 12 hours including a 1-hour break for lunch. That is 2X the duration of other courses, so I wouldn't recommend this one. Much of the material was presented redundantly 2 or 3 times, and sometimes repeated yet again in another section just for good measure. The material presented often made no distinction between Aceable-recommended driving rule-of-thumb versus Texas State Law. For example there was a statement that the left lane was for passing only (does that include 30mph driving through our subdivision?), you should never pass on the right (true but is that a ticket-able offense?), you should never park on shoulder unless vehicle has broken down (law?), you should stay with an injured animal (how long do I hang with that rabid squirrel?), you should carry a flashlight (recommendation?), etc. As much as material was repeated, additional material could still be added: For example, there was no mention whatsoever of the the TX Motorist Protection Act allowing a handgun to be carried in vehicles (is that OK when waiting in the Carpool Lane?). There was no mention of cellphone law in school zones (is bluetooth OK?). There were no examples of multiple turn lanes (can both right-turn-only lanes turn right on red or just the far right one?). There was no mention of where to find tire pressure (on the door frame, NOT on the tire), and to always check pressure when cold. There was no mention of cars that come with a can of stop-leak instead of a spare tire. There was no mention of Texas annual vehicle inspections (and what is checked during such an inspection). There was no mention of a front license plate (law?). And are bicycles legally allowed on sidewalks? Material said that "Pedestrians ALWAYS have the right-of-way", but in a later section that "Pedestrians must use the crosswalk, otherwise vehicles have the right-of-way". Which is it? The chapters on jump-starting a car battery said "don't worry it can't kill you" but fails to alert students that a spark on a battery post (e.g. if directions aren't followed) could cause a car battery to explode, sending sulfuric acid in all directions. There was no mention of symptoms of a dead battery (if engine cranks then it's not the battery). Aceable was very quick to mail completion certificate (mailed it the same day as I completed the course, and I received it in next day's mail). Course worked fine on PC, and using apps for iPad and iPhone. Didn't encounter any issues with two users in the same household taking class in parallel. I liked having the option of having the material read aloud to me. I could have done without the "sale countdown timer" when purchasing the course, e.g. price will go up $10 if you don't purchase in the next so-many minutes, tik tok tik... I also would have liked to see some example course material before purchasing, but there is a money-back guarantee if you don't like it after you start (unless you fail to get 3 out of 4 questions correct on one of the 11 exams [your money is lost after 3 failed attempts]). I would never choose the Aceable course again due to its long duration versus other options. read more

The only positive thing about Aceable is having a UI that doesn't make it seem like the website was made in 3 hours. Unfortunately, everything else does. Horrible customer service and half of the information they teach you in the hundred page lessons are just "fun facts" that you could go without knowing and not knowing it would have no impact on your driving skill. On top of paying $115 for the parent taught course, they make you pay extra if you want the option to have the text read aloud. On the final checklist they send you, as of 6/20/2022, they straight up don't tell you that in order for you to get your provisional license, you need to bring your birth certificate. They do however tell you to bring your Social Security Card which they never end up asking for. If there is another alternative, I'd recommend that. read more

My teen finished their driving school and it was all right, but now Aceable is charging me $5 a month for "roadside assistance" that I never asked for. Liar liar pants on fire. Just used them to dismiss a ticket. Lied to from min one. The app is glitchy and takes about twice as long as they say. The info is way outdated and largely inaccurate. They are also not allowed to email certificates to the court. They screw you on shipping it. They are so horrible I can't even express it. They will tell you all company's have to do it this way. Nope. They seem to be the only one. Just waiting to see how they are going to screw me over now that I'm finished and had to purchase expedited shipping to avoid more court contact. read more

I am a teenager trying to get their permit, and Aceable is decent. Very nice website and easy to configure unlike the boring websites that use one large piece of text you read. Great app as well. Although this course is very long around 40 hours, but 50% of it is useless stuff California makes them put in, so I skipped most of it. TERRIBLE! I cannot resolve my issue. The phone number is bogus. I cannot EVER get through. I've emailed SO MANY times trying to resolve an issue. I bought the program, linked my daughters account and now it wants her to pay. A 5 minute call could resolve the issue but I'm a month into emails and no solution. I would give them a zero or a negative star if I could. The information on the website is not even accurate. Never got the permit as promised after the course completion!! Call and put on hold for HOURSSSSSSSS and ended up giving up. We tried the chat feature and was informed we will get a text but nothing, did not hear from anyone. I've taken about 20 drivers safety courses (embarrassingly) and I always take defensivedriving.com so this time decided to switch it up but im only halfway through and I've been working on this thing ALL DAY with aceable! it is DEFINITELY not 6 hours!! The questions are random and don't pertain to real life, (who drives in a roundabout in America?!?!) and they jokes aren't even CLOSE to funny! Aceable will sign you up for a $5 month roadside assistance without permission. Their website has a very misleading link that basically says "email with the billing email you signed up with and we'll cancel your subscription." However the response you get is that your email is invalid. There is no one to talk to but they offer an email address. Guess what? Someone replies with the link for your email address, the same link that bounces back invalid. I see replies below regarding some gibberish about paying full price or a discounted price. I did pay full price and they still signed me up for $5 a month subscription. I suggested via email that they might need my credit card information, since obviously they have that information to bill me but I received no response back. read more

WARNING: Credit card fraudulent charges happened after the use of online payment of aceable course. My experience was two attempting fraudulent charges on my credit card one month after the card was used ONLY for paying their online driving safety course (that wasn't used for any others). I can't tell if the hacking was the fault of using their website. I just give the fact that the fraudulent charge was happened after the use of online payment to their course and warn the online users to be aware of it. I fortunately got the warning Text from the credit card about two fraudulent charges within one day, one was Target.com and another was Bestbuy.com, I rejected it and the card was then blocked. P.S.: It's true as many users complained here that the discounted price for the course is a very tricky one that if you buy the roadside service, it's confusing that many users weren't aware of that trick and got charged. Just clearly tell the public the regular price on your web. I was charged $44 for the online driving safety course. Also, dishonestly telling just 6 hours to complete the online course, just trick you in to pay their courses. Very unhappy with my experience with Aceable! Nowhere on their pages does it tell you that you have to pay the State of Texas $20 to register to use their program. They just state repeatedly that the offer "EVERYTHING" you need for your child to get their permit and their license. They also will take 1-2 days to send you an e-mail so you can receive a refund and then tell you it will take an additional 10-12 to receive your refund. read more

I could not imagine a better service for something that is usually so dreaded. I was looking for the least painful way possible to get a Drivers Ed certificate after moving to TX recently as an under-25-year-old. I am so happy I stumbled upon Aceable on one of the DPS websites. The course was super interactive, informative, and catered well to the humor of teenagers (I felt a little old for that part but I can see how it makes the content relatable). After having taken numerous in-classroom Drivers Ed courses (the certificates expire yearly in NYC and I just never took my road test), this was truly a breath of fresh air. I took the course, took the test, and the certificate came right when it was supposed to. They even gave me a link to track the package. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! My 15 year old got her permit on Friday due to Aceable.com! The process was very easy and aceable allowed us to do the parent-taught driver's ED, where she takes all of her classroom tutorials online then proceeds to take the actual driving road signs test. She passed with a 100, and we proceeded to go pick up her permit at the Texas DPS. All she had to do there was take a vision test. Just make sure you have all of your paperwork ready + $16 and your child will bring home a permit! Aceable emailed her certificate within 24 hours of completing her road test. THANK YOU ACEABLE! My experience with ACE was outstanding. I spent most of my life overseas and never had a need to learn to drive or get my own vehicle, so I never bothered. I'm 25 now and I had no idea what I was supposed to do or what it would be like to apply, no friends or family here to really guide me either. I feel like ace gave me clear cut instruction and how to proceed. The lessons were a bit tedious, but a lot more innovative and probably more interesting then a regular 6-7 hour class. When I finished, ACE gave a list of what to bring and how to proceed in the DPS. Because of them I only spent 20 minutes in the office and didn't have any issues (the cubicle next to mine were shouting at the poor lady processing them, yelling "no one told me we needed to this or that") read more
