My first time on a train in the US! This was a great experience. I took the train from Penn Station in NYC to Philly. Sure beats driving and flying depending on the distance. It's predictable, comfortable and takes you right to the center of the city. The train itself was very clean and comfortable. They also have a food car where they had some decent food and drink options.

I wanted to take my daughter down to DC from Boston on the train as an experience in our American history tour. It is $400 per person for one way, total it was over $800 for us both, not cheap. We did the first class on the Acela train. Curtains were threadbare and service was abysmal. I don't think they pay their people enough to care, or at least, that's how they acted. We had fruit when we got on. No one asked us if we wanted more food or let us know we could ask for more at any time. We politely waited for lunch. New people got on at NYC and all of a sudden they were being served lunch before our order was even taken. The assistant literally walked past us to assist others. People finished their meal before our order was taken. Starving and smelling food and hearing people eat is hard, especially knowing I paid $800 for this and can't even be fed enough without starving. I let the assistant know we were new to this (from California) and asked how things are done. She told me that people who got on the train at NyC get served first, not the ones who have been on the train since Boston for the last 4 hours. She said, I served you breakfast in Boston. I said, we ate fruit in Boston 4 hours ago. She said, you can ask for more. If you're hungry, you can get food before we get into NY. She never told us this. She took my menu after I ordered fruit in Boston and didn't mention that. How was I supposed to know or know what to order. Where I'm from, if they take the menu, that's it. Very disappointed. My advice, fly! It's 1/4 the cost, 1/4 the time, and 1/4 the aggravation - as bad as service is on a plane, it's never as bad as what I had on Amtrak. And I used to travel with my fam on Amtrak all the time as a kid. We loved it. Not anymore. I will say, here was another assistant who saved the day. Listened to my grievances kindly and assisted me.

You know I get it with the reviews .... It's super expensive.... And it only sheds off 30'mins or so- BUT being in the middle of COVID and wanting to be as far away from as many people as possible when traveling has been a game changer for how money is allocated. The drinks in first class were nice and honestly the best part as you could have get some of your moneys worth through the cocktail selection... the meal attempts were ... decent - but at a $300 ticket you'd expect more... the CLEANLINESS of the train .... :0/ that was the most disappointing - food stains on the wall and when I wiped my tray and seat (myself) was definitely grimy - service was awesome and again as long as it's COVID ... minimal people interaction is definitely preferred ..

It amazed me how much worse Acela has gotten over the years. The business coach used to a true business oriented experience whereas now you barely have enough legroom and nowhere to plug in your computer unless you reach deep underneath your seat. It's just not worth the $200 you pay for. When it comes to express train service, the United States of America is truly a third world country.

Business class seat. Tons of leg room and the seats are wide and recline. It's equivalent to first class seats on domestic US flights.

2 and half hours from DC to Newark for a cheap fare was quite impressive and a killer value. I recommend using this travel option which only had 4 stops between my origin and destination. The train moves at 150mph at some points which is quite an experience. Better and faster than a plane.

First off, I have been on Amtrak many times but never had the chance to travel aboard the Acela. I have to say the experience is more than satisfying. The seats are real comfy and the coach I was in was clean. It's amazing how much you can miss riding the train if you haven't been on one for a while. For a short ride like mine was (NY to Boston) I would say I really enjoyed myself. You can look out the window, read, sleep and do whatever you feel like. The ride got scenic as we approached Providence. I don't know how I feel about comparing this experience to taking a flight over to Boston. It's probably not fair to compare the two but the Acela for sure had better seats that recline all the way and it did help that I didn't have to show up an hr in advance and go through security. Also, if you are traveling alone do yourself a favor and get the window seat. They have curtains installed and you can always pull them on if you get tired looking out the window.

The ride was typically 1/2 hour long (barring delays) starting at 7:30am, since it was a local train. I can still remember all 9 stops along the way. The 1/2 hr ride was also good for finishing up last minute homework, reading assignments or just a quick nap. Sometimes we would meet friends along the way that got on at intermediate stops. As the train went uptown, it gets more and more crowded, so we were lucky to get on towards the beginning of the route to get seats. Back then, there was no air-conditioning, just a fan built into the roof of the subway car and during the summers, it was unbearable. If you sat at the end of the car, you can open up the sliding door, just to get a breeze. It was also fun to ride in the front car next to the motorman's compartment and look out the front window as the train is rolling through the tunnels at 30 mph.

Let's say you are trying to go from 1st stop to uptown like 125th street station, it might take 35 or 40 mins on this local train and it can be less crowded than an express train and you know what, maybe it Is possible to get a seat as well. It does get crowded ( depending on the time of day or night) though as well during rush hour especially at busy stops like Union Square 14th street, 42nd street grand central station or 86 TH street ( one of the busiest).

Because Amtrak has changed my reservation three times in three months. I booked my trip to Boston early because it was July 3rd and America's 250th so I figured the train may be crowded. Since then, I keep getting canceled trains and car reassignments. I don't understand why as these are trains that run daily. Additionally, the emails give me a link to use in the app if I would like view the changes or make other changes. The links never work! Hence, my ongoing communication with customer service. I found out this last time that I can't access the app until the changes are confirmed. Isn't that the point of the link in the email? At this point I'm ready to book a refundable backup airline reservation as I'm getting leery that Amtrak may just cancel everything at the last minute.

It connects over 500 destinations, including big cities like Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Portland, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Washington, D.C. and more. One time I thought I wanted to arrive in NYC by train from Miami Florida. It's the old romantic movies I had seen creating visions of glamour and excitement as you are welcomed in Penn Station. Even though I was being met by my daughter I anticipated the glamour of arrival. I also remembered my train ride from Florida to New York with my Mother when I was little. I had so much fun and my mother had motion sickness the whole way! As I should have known a trip of that length would be uncomfortable unless you had a sleeping car. The train was crowded too because I decided to attempt this in July. All the kids were out of school and going to theme parks. The bathroom became filthy in time and the children impatient with the ride. The parents impatient with the children. I sat with my headphones music blasting and looked out the window during daylight hours. The experience was miserable on the return trip also because I cried all the way back to Florida. I had plenty of time during that train ride to make a decision and a plan to move back to NYC. The experience is not one I want to repeat. We were held up in Florida by railroad crossings during Florida tropical downpours. In Washington D.C. we were held up by train problems and train traffic trying to get in and out. When I finally arrived my daughter greeted me with a look of chagrin because she couldn't find me. This was pre cell phones. By the time I arrived I was traveling a full 24 hours at least. From then on I took a plane! I'm not saying I wouldn't try one of their travel packages for a short excursion. I do think car travel is still my favorite!

They handled our pickup from LGA to our Midtown hotel and later our return trip back to the airport, and both rides were flawless. This was truly 5-star service and one part of the trip I didn't have to worry about at all. The vehicles were clean and comfortable, communication was clear, and everything ran exactly on time. It was worth every penny compared to mass transit or other ride services. What really set them apart was their customer service. When we were dropped off at the airport, my son accidentally left his phone in the car. Umar went out of his way to drive all the way back around and personally return the phone to us--no hesitation, no attitude, just genuine care and professionalism. I can't recommend Precision NY Chauffeur Service enough. If you want reliable, stress-free transportation in NYC, this is the company to use.

I just want to make sure that I'm clear about the failed "Lowest Price Guarantee". After making two separate efforts to clarify why Precision's price quote was so high and why the Lowest Price Guarantee wasn't being honored, I went with another company. And, I'm really happy that I did. The company that earned my business, was not only comparable, but, in my opinion even superior. Muhammad's response appears to indicate that the companies that gave me price quotes were somehow inferior. Precision has been in business 18 years, and the company I went with has been in business longer. Precision's price quote was much higher than the competition and was for a Cadillac or Volvo sedan, not the beautiful new black SUV that picked up my girlfriend. Lastly, the professional chauffer that was our driver, was impeccably dressed in a black suit and tie. Our driver had over 30 years experience as a licensed, professional chauffer. This gentleman even showed up 25 minutes early! What an incredible experience! Muhammad, I truly appreciate your response and your generous offer. The purpose of this updated review was to clarify that the company that we went with, was not inferior in any way. For some reason, you referenced Uber or a taxi service in your response. I hired a superior, licensed, insured and incredibly professional competitor. Price was certainly not the only deciding factor. I'm hopeful, that this could be a learning opportunity for you and you organization in regards to your " Lowest Price Guarantee". Thank you again.
