I made an appointment today to get my 17' Golf R tuned to a stage 1. The gentleman that I interacted with was very professional and knowledgeable, 2 huge factor points in my opinion and review. After a short while he came in and said that he determined that I already had a tuned car. He checked APR 1st, nothing. He went back to look over the car again and plug up Unitronic and sure enough it has already had stage 2 tune and upgrades. They didn't charge me at all! What an honest business!! They easily could have charged me for the tune and or just diagnostics, but didn't. I'm definitely switching to them for my regular service needs and any future upgrades. I told them my budget of $5000, and instead of reaping all of that revenue by simply recommending modifications, they told me to go car shopping because I'll get more "smiles per dollar". I've been going to Achtuning for about 4 years. I brought my 2011 Jetta in there as well as my 2014 A4. I will never go to another place to service my car. Not only are they cheaper than going to a dealer, these guys know what they are doing and have never failed me. During peak season, I've had waits of 2 weeks for installs such as exhausts and downpipes, but it's always worth the wait. For my A4, these guys have installed an exhaust, a downpipe, and have done a carbon cleanup (valves). For the carbon cleanup, they sent me before and after pictures of my valves, and used walnut blasting to clean them up good. If you ever need any help with any vw or Audi, I would contact Achtuning. Kelly is the guy I usually talk to at the front counter, and he is the greatest dude. If you ask for recommendations, he doesn't push you to buy things you don't need, and is super honest. read more

After being lied to about things that are actually happening with my car by the local Volkswagen dealer, as well as a shoddy independent mechanic, I was looking for a new mechanic. I will admit, I am quite OCD about my car. I drive a 2012 GTI, and I LOVE my car. If I had the facilities to do everything myself, I would. Unfortunately I do not, which means I needed to find a mechanic that specializes in Volkswagen/Audi vehicles that I could trust. I ended up emailing what felt like a dissertation to Achtuning. It's not so much that there was anything majorly wrong with my car. However, I also know that when German cars get to a certain age, you need to do some preventative maintenance to avoid catastrophic problems. Kelly answered my long essay of an email with care, honesty, and extreme knowledge. With his answers, I knew that this was the place I would be taking my car for future maintenance and care. I had my first actual experience with Achtuning today, and the experience further solidified my initial impressions. Kelly and his team clearly have integrity, knowledge, and operate in complete honesty. I was brining my car in for an alignment, a service I had had done about a year ago from a different place in the Bay Area that specialized in Volkswagen/Audi service. I found it a little odd that I needed an alignment again after only a year and 10,000 miles, but it was pretty clear that I needed it. Achtuning had great availability. I was able to schedule an appointment via email, and get in the very next week. I dropped the car off at 7AM, walked to a local Starbucks, and the car was done an hour later. I picked up the car with ease, during which I was told that my alignment was "all wonky," particularly with my rear cross camber. I paid for the service, and even asked a few questions on some things that I was thinking about doing in the near future. My questions were answered with knowledge and care, and I felt extremely well taken care of. Then I drove my car after the service, and it felt like the car was brand new. I drove it all the way back home to Seattle taking the long way, as well as side streets to just test everything out. I had not realized how bad my alignment was, until after the fact. Kelly and his team aligned my car probably better than how it came from the factory. So based on this experience, I will be brining my car to Achtuning for all further maintenance. I've been having trouble with my gear shift and brought it back in to Kelly and the team and they took a look and replaced a worn component in my gear box to make it all better. They also recommended some additional work be done (replacing the timing chain and tensioner, fuel filters and injectors, as well as cleaning the carbon build up in the engine) to ensure that my car would continue running smoothly for years to come. I thanked them for the recommendations and looked into it seeing as it was a lot of money to be spending on my car. Sure enough, there were reports of timing chain tensioners breaking on the 2010 GTI's without warning (basically ruining the engine) and known issues regarding carbon build up that make the car run slower and less efficiently. I called them and scheduled to drop off my car while I was out of the country. They worked on it and kept me informed via email. They even offered to re-flash my chip since it had been a few years since I had gotten it installed. Who can say no to free HP and torque increases? They even worked it out where they would leave my car outside so that I was able to pick it up without waiting for them to open after the new year! Went to Achtuning for an alignment on my e90 M3 after being turned down by two alignment shops. One said I was too low for their machine, and one said they didn't do BMWs. Ok. Achtuning did a remarkable job. I needed the alignment because I lowered my car a bit so it wasn't a huge change, but the car definitely tracks better. Achtuning is a top notch establishment. Through them, I have done three mods (all installed by them). On one of the installs, I did have a question on how the exhaust should be/sound. They asked me to bring it in and essentially went above and beyond trying to rectify a product issue (not one that they manufactured, but they installed). Bill and Nate spent 4 (FOUR) hours of their time and essentially left no stone unturned. Problem has since gone away. They made sure I was completely satisfied every single time and I'd entrust my car to them more than I would my car dealership. The guys on the Sales side are vastly knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with every time (Dion and Skyler). Never worried if I had a question (simple or hard - they'll get to the bottom of it). Mods done by them: - ECU flash (free install and overnight shipment to and from tuner and stored my car in their garage in the meantime) - Brakes - pads, lines and race fluid. Walked me through break in as well. - Catback exhaust. Installed and troubleshooted (at expense to them). Bought from them: - Cold air intake. I am a 3 time customer here. The last visit was about a month ago to get my Audi re-flashed with the latest ECU software. The re-flash that normally takes about 10 minutes ended up being a 3-4 hour task due to some complication with my car. I recently found myself in a bind as our Audi had developed a leak in the vacuum system. As it turns out, this leak not only effected the way the car ran it also effected the braking system. I limped the car to Achtuning on an afternoon when they were swamped. Kelly at the front desk, realized the car was not in very good shape to drive, and was willing to lift the hood and quickly identified the problem. He ordered the replacement parts and got the car back in our hands.
