I got a call a few hours later with results from a thorough diagnosis as well as Al's recommendations. Best repair shop I've found in a while. We have a 2006 Volvo V70R which was showing engine faults. They diagnosed the problem and rebuilt the timing belt, saving us almost $8000 over a previous diagnosis. I took my wife's Audi A4 in for its 55K service. Also noticed a small coolant leak so I mentioned that to Al so he could check it out. As it turned out, I needed a new water pump so I had Europa handle that as well. As with all of my repairs, the service and work was excellent. We took our 2019 Volvo Xc60 in for its first service after the first 3 free services provided by Volvo. They seem super knowledgeable about Volvo cars. We've heard a squeak for a very long time shortly after I drove the brand new car off the lot. We've asked Volvo to find out why multiple times at multiple Volvo dealerships. And they swear we were crazy and there was no squeak. We've had to just live with it. Europa immediately explained to us how Volvo brakes work and potential reasons why new brake pads could make a squeak!! Mystery solved! read more

These guys really know how to knock it outta the park. My main contact was Al, who was very calm and easy to communicate with. I had a few issues with scheduling and he made everything so easy on that front. I've never had such a good experience at any other auto appt, including the dealership. Al took his time getting all of my info and concerns and then was very detailed explaining everything they found, fixed, suggested - it was a true full service. He gave me good info on care and maintenance until the next appt --recommending great solutions I can do at home. Then he gave me a first-time discount, wow! My car is performing well. A good shop for your older Volvo but customers must schedule weeks ahead as they are busy. My car has been there twice and they fixed it right the first time. They are very helpful explaining what they did and any other questions I might have. They cleared the service indicator after I brought it up before driving off. No problem. Confirming what all the other reviews are saying, Al and the Europa shop are AMAZING! Brought my Volvo in for my first factory maintenance since the manufacturer provided maintenances. Scheduling was super easy, quote was under what Volvo was charging for the maintenance. When I went to pickup the car, Al printed out the invoice and saw that there was a mistake on the invoice and I wasn't charged for the whole job and even after offering to pay the right amount, Al didn't budge and honored the price that was printed on the invoice which is unheard of. I came here to get second opinion about repairs on my 2010 Audi Q5. Another independent shop had told me during a routine servicing that there were three major issues, which needed to be addressed immediately, or my car would seize, overheat, or worse. Have been visiting Europa since I moved to Seattle. Al and his team are wonderful. The service is always great, they NEVER overcharge, the prices are much better than the Volvo dealership and all the part are OEM. I had to get my glass replaced as it was broken into; the dealership quoted $770 and they quoted $360 for the same glass + labor. He always manages to give me some discounts on labor or something to mAke my cost come even down. They even suggest how to modify your driving habits by seeing the wear and tear on the car and how to keep it running smooth for a long time. read more

I always DREAD when my service light comes on, but Europa made everything so simple. The owner was so nice and got me and my older Audi A3 in right away and was accommodating to my schedule, he didn't try to sell me anything I didn't needed, and he got the service done in just a few hours. 10 stars to Al for providing great customer service and solving my issue. My x5 had a driver seat panel over the seat adjustments break loose. Seems like a common issue for X5 as i found youtube videos about it. I couldnt find a shop to fix it for 3 months. I searched in my local community in facebook with no luck. I decided to give Europa a try based on other reviews. Each of those reviews are very true. AL is very kind, fairly priced and was able to accommodate me in 2 weeks. Promptly called me to let me know when the car was ready. We ended up charting beyond the car and I learnt so much about his journey of being the business owner which was pretty inspiring. Al is a solid guy, he knows his Volvos, and he's not out to drain you for every penny. I'm a veteran of odd and painful cars to own, a long standing Volvo Club of America member, and I spent some years flipping weird euro cars, and as a result, over the years I've dealt with my share of good and bad shops who "specialize" in all sorts of things, so when I say a mechanic is a solid guy, I mean it. I bought a 17 year old V40 Wagon from a curbstoner, knowing I was taking some chances, and I had Al do some tidying, fix a turbo oil return leak, and do a full timing service since I had no real records on the car. His work has held up with no issues for months. I love my V40 and it was relatively dirt cheap. I don't know that I'd recommend a first gen V40 to anyone else, but I knew what I was getting into. And that's where a solid, honest shop comes in handy. Some shops would try and soak you to fix every nagging little issue, or track down every bug, Al is not that guy. Best example of Al's professionalism is, when faced with a weird intermittent transmission issue that another shop in Bellevue wanted $3k to fix (full rebuild, a transmission shop? you don't say! what a shock!? lol), I popped in and talked to Al. When I asked what *he* would do if it were *his* car, he said "other than change fluid? Drive the darn thing and keep an eye on it, if it gets worse, it gets worse, otherwise just keep driving it." Will I need a new slushbox one day? Probably, most first gen V40 Wagons eat one in a lifetime. Whatever. The point is I was ready to go source one at a yard and blow my fix-up budget on this used car to the tune of another $1500-2k after already doing a full 120k service, and Al convinced me just to wait and see. I'm still daily driving it, living on a cobblestone street in downtown and abusing the crap out of the car on uphill starts and, four months later, I've not felt it slip again one time. Pretty sure I'll *still* get another 10-15k out of this box before I bother with a swap thanks to Al's prudent advice, which means just knowing Al saved me a ton of cash short term. With that kind of time I can justify putting the cash into a LevelTen built box if I still plan to keep the car for the long term. I have some adventure plans for this chassis, and for certain when I do finally break down and put a new gearbox in this car, Al will be the one doing it. Al, being the ridiculously honest guy he is, will surely tell me not to dump the money into this body, he'll tell me if it were his ride he wouldn't, and that's exactly why I'll keep trekking out to the 'burbs to see Al every time I'm stuck with a problem I don't know how to handle. Anything I'm not comfortable doing myself on this brick will go right to Bel-Red Road, even if it's an expensive Lyft home. The best mechanics don't tell you all the things you need to do, the best mechanics tell you what you *really* need to do, and what to come back and have done when you're a little flush with cash. Al is that kind of guy, a rare find these days. read more

Thieves! I left my BMW car for their diagnosis and soon after received a phone call stating a coil had failed. After paying the charge I phoned other shops and learned I was overcharged. If you are fortunate enough to live near this auto shop, don't hesitate to use them. They've worked on my 2011 BMW X3 for several services and proven themselves to be competent and honest. I inadvertently tested that honesty on my last visit. I was in Portland and had car issues over a weekend which necessitated my having to stay there through the following Tuesday. Took the car to Kuni where it was originally purchased. There were two significant issues; they said one needed to be done immediately if I wanted to get back to Lynnwood safely; the other could be deferred. I had them do the work. In my fog of stress I thought I'd only had them do the one repair so scheduled the other with Europa. The called me the next day and asked if I was sure I needed the work done as the part looked new. I cursed Kuni in my mind and said thank you! They did, however, notice a small issue with the other repair and they did a simple fix on that. I pulled out the Kuni receipt and that's when I saw they'd done both repairs! Boy, did I feel silly, but I was grateful that Europa had caught the belt issue and fixed it. My work office closed permanently and I no longer have a coworker to help me get my car from Lynnwood to them and back, so I'm sadly searching for a closer mechanic. I've checked their invoices on all the work they've done for me and compared pricing. They are in line with what I'd expect to pay for competent labor; not cheap or expensive which is fine with me to keep this old baby (my car) running smoothly. read more
