My daughter and I traveled from Los Angeles as Concert Tourists to see The Pretty Reckless at ACL Live. It was our first experience at this venue and we will be back. From asking for help to an ADA accessible elevator to the incredible sound system to the amazing ushers and staff. When we asked for the ADA accessible entrance and elevator, one the staff walked us to the entrance and made sure we were on our way. Texas hospitality! Then taking the elevator to the top was easy, but slow (some elevators are that way). The only issue was the the stair to our seats were a steep grade. UGH! My fear of heights kicked in and it was a little unnerving even though every one around me was fine! When my daughter brought our merch and drinks, the usher helped her. And when I got up to use the restroom, a fellow customer and the usher helped me. The usher then suggested as the seats at the top were empty to sit there. He even went to tell my daughter that we were moving. Texas hospitality again! This is a beautiful venue and we hope to be BACK!!! read more

I went here for an Ella Mai concert. I never knew this venue even existed. It feels like a club but intimate at the same time. There is a bar in each section and there are spectacular views. I sat in the balcony and the seats were so small. Next time I will sit in the mezzanine section instead. The staff was so helpful and friendly. I had no trouble getting in. This is my favorite venue in Austin! It is small, with amazing acoustics. No matter where you sit, you feel like you are part of the show. From the Entry process to scanning Tickets to the staff working the Barr, everyone is friendly and helpful and will make sure you know how to find your seats. There are plenty of restrooms on each level of the venue, which are kept clean throughout the show. If you have the opportunity to see a band here, do not hesitate. ACL Live is an amazing venue! I've been here multiple times. They have great artists come through here and you can see the history of artists that have performed there on their walls. I've gotten standing room tickets where you can be right in front of the stage. I've also had seats in the balcony. Either way, both spots offer great views to watch shows at this venue. They have solid options for drinks and food as well. The only hot food option is hot dogs. I haven't tried the food personally, but it looked good. And the lines to get drinks is usually short and the staff is friendly. read more

We went through the line into security (where they confiscated all my snacks from the day lol) and into the venue quickly despite the long line. Once inside my friend and I walked around looking at all the memorabilia and history of the place. We were seated on the balcony right in the middle, which turned out to be a great seat! You can really see from everywhere. The venue was nice and seats were comfortable. They had a variety of local beers and a full bar as well. The event was very family friendly. They created Willie bandana and braids for participants who wanted them, making it more fun to walk around. I've been to ACL Live on multiple accounts, and if you ask me how the venue will be, I couldn't tell ya! ACL Live is an event planner's dream. The venue can be configured for whatever you need. Billboard's Peso Pluma Concert? Standing GA on the lower level and the standard seating on the upper levels. The iHeartPodcast Awards? A free Christmas concert with a full orchestra? Auditorium style. Surprisingly, even though the seats are mobile, the chairs are surprisingly comfy!! Depending on the staff the event hires, the seamlessness of security check and lines can vary. If it's a SXSW event, you can expect experienced line managers and heavy security. But, if it's something on a smaller scale, it can be tragic and lead to chaotic, lost crowds. I've had the pleasure to be invited to the PNC Hall for an after-party event, and I love how easy it is to access as it's right next to the exit. The space is a bit tiny, but can hold a solid catering spread and reduced bar. IN: the permanent photo booth located in the open air is a nice touch for a keepsake. Also, the bathrooms are well maintained, (but wishing there were more stalls!) OUT: Parking is available via street or in nearby paid garages. The City Hall Garage is the preferred option due to its proximity and sometimes has a reduced rate for event goers. read more

My husband and I went to ACL Live at the Moody to watch Sawyer Hill and Yungblud perform. It was a great show. Both artists did an excellent job and were very entertaining. We sat where you could easily see the artist but we've sat in several areas in this venue and can usually see no matter where we sit. That is one of the reasons I enjoy going to there. We usually get water before the show at one of the bars. The service is usually friendly and fast. The bathrooms are mostly clean but there is usually a line at the ladies room that moves along quickly. Overall it's a great venue to catch a show. There are friendly people working there, the artists are always entertaining and the view of the show is good from most areas. read more

First visit to this venue and was pleasantly surprised after seeing it on TV. It was larger than I expected. Lots of stairs and a very slow elevator to get beyond main floor. Sound was just ok but guessing clarity depends on performers not just equipment. Floor with all the LED pics of celebrities that have performed there was awesome. Usher sent us to the wrong seats and hassle moving since most other seats were occupied by then. Didn't know view would be blocked by large black tubing from the ceiling. Parking that was associated with the tickets ended up being about 7 blocks away and scanner wasn't working at the exit so paid double for parking since nobody staffing the lot. read more

This venue is fantastic. From checking in to finding our seats- everything was a breeze. We won tickets to an ACL live taping of Samara Joy. I didn't know much about her before this taping but I'm a huge fan now. She has the voice of an angel. Her range is incredible. They say she is a once in a lifetime kind of singer. She's about 26 and she didn't know much about Jazz until she was a jr/sr in high school and she's already won a Grammy! Watch this taping when it comes out! :) We were luckily on the mezzanine floor; which is my favorite place in the whole venue. To each his own right?! The bathrooms were clean. The drinks were a bit pricey but that's to be expected. We are so lucky to live in a city with this venue. read more

I'm not sure if there is any better live venue than this one in Texas. Holy smokes--I've never had a bad time here and this is why: Security is no frills & super easy to get through. Will call is also easily accessible upon walking up the steps. The merchandise line block is super smart as it removes congestions from such a narrow floor. The views from the stairs to the second floor are great for visiting people to take photos. The acoustics in the venue are insane! Not even a bad seat and I saw a show in the nosebleeds once. The staff is nice. The bartenders are not arrogant. They serve non alcoholic beverages and sometimes have a specialty cocktail of the night. Wow, idk what else to say. Not a single thing is bad about this place. Look for tickets to a show and grab a ride share there! No more clunky experiences at Moody Center! read more

An unforgettable experience! Not my first time and won't be my last. Venue, Service, Artists, ..energy. Not the original ACL Theatre, but I swear the spirit of what it represents carry's through. It is truly a live music icon, and yes OF THE WORLD. They have check in down to a science. Quick, efficient, and friendly. ***I got the tickets before my son was on crutches. Knee surgery is not conducive to stadium seating.*** 1. They were super accommodating. They recognized his need before I even asked. Elevators are available otherwise you're gonna climb a few flights of stairs. The ushers, without asking, were so emphatic that they gave me the pro tip...go to will call, and they will provide ADA seats. There IS NOT. A bad seat in the house! Just know that floor seats are not stadium sitting.. so if the crowd decides to stand and you are height challenged... your view will be obstructed. Not an issue on the balcony. Watch the videos and you'll see it's still amazing. Sooooo we went From balcony center stage to the side and back row. We didn't miss a thing. THANK YOU SO MUCH WILL CALL! We sat next to each other and didn't feel guilty about taking someone else's seats as there were more available. We thought it would be fun to be tourists in our own city and do the ACL Live Tour. What fun! It was so cool getting to go deep into the history of ACL Live and how it began, etc. Our tour guide was amazing. She knew the answers to even the most obscure questions from other tour attendees. We got to tour all of the venue, including backstage, green rooms, etc. Lots of memorabilia adorn throughout the backstage area. During our tour there was actual work going on behind the scenes in preparation for a performance later in the evening. I don't usually go for the photos places take and want you to buy but did this time. They were fun and awesome. My boyfriend and I bought two to give our moms as Mother's Day Gifts. The next time we have friends visit from out of town, we're going to bring them so they can get a taste of Austin music history and learn about the original location as well. I absolutely adore the ACL Moody Theater as it's an intimate spot that literally doesn't have a bad seat in the house. As folks may see from my last review of this spot, I was sitting in the balcony, yet this time I had floor seats to see the Empress of Soul, the one and only, Gladys Knight. The check-in process to the service at the bar service... all top notch. ACL Live had their first annual Community Day where visitors local or tourist could explore the whole facility free of charge. I was a great way to checkout all the seating options and vantage points for your next show here. There is not really a bad seat in the house since reasonably a small venue. There was some freebies for visitors young and old including food and drinks, but could purchase Chick-fil-A sandwiches and chips. There was also a bar open too with live music in the newly built PNC Hall. It was very fun to attend even though been here many times, and the staff were so inviting and friendly. You were provided with a Passport card to explore the 3TEN, Mezzanine, Balcony, Backstage, PNC Hall and ACL Live Shop where completed can win tickets to a show. You also got your photo taken on a stage setup and could purchase it too. The Moody Theater is the larger venue at ACL Live complex where the smaller one is called 3TEN. It is the best place to enjoy live music and other performances in Austin were the sound is like a recording studio. The atmosphere is great and has gotten better with the minor renovation to display more musical artifacts on each level. Parking is not a problem in the Second Street District where most park at the Austin City Hall or make a night by staying next door at the W Austin which also completed a major renovation. If attending a show then recommend arriving early where the Austin traffic seems to be getting worse and after your park walk around before going inside. read more

This is a review for the ACL Tour that they do Fridays through Mondays. I would HIGHLY recommend going on this tour during the day. It might have been one of the main highlights of my trip to Austin. Since there was nothing playing that evening, we were able to get full access to the place, including the stage! I think the best part was the tour guide who could have easily let us loose on the pictures and exhibits and just let us read. Instead, she pointed out some of her favorite photos and the history behind them. They also have a souvenir photo area which is a little touristy, but the picture came out really good and its only $10. If you are a fan of music and the history of music, I would HIGHLY recommend checking this tour out! read more

Went here for a comedy show and while the show was great the seats were uncomfortable. There was barely any room for someone to pass you by to get to their seat. We sat balcony area 4 in the middle and while we had a clear view of the stage we couldn't see the screens as clearly which kind of ruined some of the bits for the show. I bought two mixed drinks, a coke and rum and a Moscow mule. The coke and rum was terrible, it tasted just like cough syrup even when mixed and lime was added. The Moscow mule was decent but definitely needed to be mixed quite a bit. While the drinks were just okay, I will say that there was quite a bit of alcohol in there for a single. While there are quite a few bathroom stalls, the toilet flush is terrible. I had to flush three of four times to clear the bowl. On a positive note the staff are very friendly and the venue is clean and close to a lot of delicious food. Would I come back? Probably but it would have to be for a performer that I REALLY like. read more

After 13 years, I still hold the Duchess title (an old timey Yelp achievement for being a frequent visitor), so it's a good time for an updated review of ACL Live at the Moody Theater. I seem to be here at least a couple of times per month and it's still one of my favorite places to see and hear live music concerts. Last night, I had the privilege to attend a "taping" for the iconic Austin City Limits television program by PBS, now in their 50th year. The crowd at these shows is always so great, each attendee a true lover of the art form and thoroughly engaged in the performance from start to finish. The artist on stage was as as happy to be there as we all were. After the show, which had 2 encores, I skipped down the stairs to snap a pic of Willie to celebrate his 91st birthday and made home in time for PJs by 10:15p, not bad for a school night. The 3-story, 2,700 capacity Moody Theater can be physically demanding in that most shows involve standing-for-hours GA tickets on the floor, or walking up 2-3 flights to reach the steep, vertigo-inducing mezzanine or balcony rows. Luckily, they have some decent accommodations for folks who need them. Be sure to check out their accessibility services before ticket purchase. My first experience here was to see my favorite band, Nothing But Thieves who, for some reason, refuse to ever coming to Houston. This means I'd have to either drive to Austin or to Dallas to see them. In this instance, I went to both Austin and Dallas to see them. Yes I love them that much. But let's talk about my experience here at at The Moody Theater. Although it was only my first time here, I could confidently say that this is probably one of my favorite venues ever. Why? Because of the size! It's so compact where the back end of the theater is oh so close to the stage. If I had to guesstimate, the very back wall of the theater is probably about halfway of where you'd stand if you were to go to, say, 713 Music Hall in Houston, TX. Getting into the venue was easy. There was a line before the doors opened but it moved fairly quickly once the doors were opened. I had to climb up the stairs to get to the theater, but I'm sure they have elevators somewhere for those who can't use the stairs. My main concern before coming here was parking. I wasn't familiar with Austin's parking situation, but I managed to find parking in a garage nearby for only around $12, which I thought was super reasonable. Drink prices are pretty typical of what you'd pay at a concert venue. Yes they are expensive in comparison to your typical bar, but they are average when you compare it to other concert venues. Would I want to see another band play here? Hell yes!! read more

Went during SXSW & got in line, got a wristband, and after what felt like an eternity, finally entered. The lighting and sound completely depend on the artist, and when Benson and Rema performed, I was blown away by the sound quality, lighting, and the energy of the crowd. I usually go for beer since the liquor they use in cocktails isn't great. You can choose premium liquor, but let's just say premium isn't exactly premiuming (#iykyk). The only downside ---- If you're sitting in the middle with a beer, expect multiple bathroom breaks lol just a heads-up. The theater is huge. The bottom floor is for standing, the mid-floor is VIP, and the top is the balcony. Every floor has its own bar bathroom and lobby and little patio too.. read more

Came here for the Louis CK 1/21 show. I recommend you walk or get dropped off so you don't have to deal with the traffic jams in a tight area of town like this. It's also best to arrive early because it seemed lots of people showed up right before the show started or were late, so the lines to get in got long as I looked over down to the street. This delay of people getting in pushed the show start about 40 minutes out. But this location has lots bathrooms, merch areas, lots of bars, and ACL history exhibits all around to keep you occupied. The venue is fairly big. I wanna say around 2500 people. My friend and I had front row seats and it was amazing. The performance felt like it was just for us. Louis CK was yelling jokes right at our faces. Epic! read more

I finally made it to Moody's after walking past Willie's statue so many times! I was the lucky winner of two tickets to Amos Lee's Live from the Heart performance benefiting Joy RX. So it was really nice to be able to offer a friend a chance to see Amos Lee for the first time. My boyfriend and I absolutely love his symphony acoustic shows so we really liked the idea of another intimate storytelling experience. Unfortunately, the sound was too loud and they didn't really make proper adjustments - Luckily el Camino was perfect but overall I was really disappointed with the sound board crew. Joy RX is wonderful cause to support and Amos Lee always speaks from the heart. Unfortunately the seats are so small and the arm rests are not adjustable. I'm only 5'3 and I felt so crapped and had no leg room. I don't know why the venue passed on comfortable seating but I'm guessing greed played a large part in that poor decision making. Another note for improvement- despite the rainy weather, there was a long line of devoted fans waiting when we arrived. The security outside was very helpful updating fans as they encountered a few delays (the charity auction ran long). But it would have been nice to receive a text or app notification to inform everyone of the delays and entrance location changes. Overall the venue was nothing special but if an artist I love is playing at this venue I would consider going back. I prefer venues like the Ryman and the Opry where the venue is part of the experience and not just a building. read more

We keep our house at 68, and my husband is always hot but also was complaining about the cold. I didn't even want any more drinks because I needed to keep my hands balled up for warmth. Wear pants, long sleeves, a jacket, and warm shoes when you come here. Other than being extremely uncomfortable, the seating is nice, the floor is also roomy enough to not feel crowded. I've seen shows both ways here. Everything including the restrooms are clean. There's a bar outside and upstairs inside for mezzanine. Sometimes they open more bars if it's busy. For one, there's lots of stairs, not very accessible harder for those of us in heels and in short dresses. The seats are very close to one another. There's no space for anyone with larger bodies or who just don't like to touch strangers. They charge $40 for one alcoholic beverage, insane, and there aren't even cupholders on every seat they are only on the end aisle seats.
