I came to Kane's through referral and went directly to his shop. He might have been a great…read moremechanic back in the day OR with his friends he knows well. BUT, I felt like an inconvenience. He told me he was busy and would call me. 1 week later, I called him, he apologized and said he would call me next week for sure. Never did, I called again, reminded him, he came by referral and asked if he wanted my business. He apologized again, then booked me for a Monday appointment right away. Since he came by referral, I trusted him and told him money was no object. My truck has been meticulously taken care of since new. My last mechanic worked for me for 20 years before retiring to another State, (I so miss his integrity). I provided Jim with all the maintenance records / history, including the issues written out in hardcopy. I had 2 main issues and some enhancements I planned for later. The rear brake drums appeared to be out of round but working good and a misfire, stuttery acceleration issue between 1000rpm - 2000rpm. He kept the truck for 1 week. He charged me $800 to turn the rear drums, add new shoes, new cylinders, fresh fluid. But he did not check the front breaks. He then replaced the, (not old) spark plugs because he didn't like the brand and adjusted the timing. Evidently, they never took my truck for a test drive before or after. The breaks still have an out of round, stopping issue, (not as bad). And there is no change in the stuttery acceleration between 1k-2k. SO, I received $200 in parts that I potentially didn't need and $600 in labor costs that did not resolve the issues I brought the truck in for. I really feel taken advantage of by Jim Kane and will NEVER go back there! "Fool me once shame on you" Never again, Honest.

I was refered to Kane's Automotive and was pleasantly surprised by their professionalism. The techs at Kane's went above and beyond: pressed out the old wheel bearing race, cleaned up scratches from my removal attempts, pressed in the new one & even put in the seals. It was all done within 45 mins of dropping it off & cheaper than what Pep Tards wanted to charge, of they would have done it. Thank god for Kane's, I'll definiately have the do allmy automotive machine shop work; highly recommend these guy!
