First time at this location. Unfortunately, if I could give it zero stars I would. I had one of the most horrifying experiences I've ever had. My husband and I proceeded to the self check out line. My husband started to scan our items. She first had an issue with him using the hand scanner then the issue was we had over 15 items. When she approached us to tell us we couldn't use the handheld scanner my husband was holding it she then grabbed it and twisted his wrist. Completely unacceptable! You never as a worker need to use aggressive physical force to let a customer know the policy of your store. We have contacted the manager (Dave) on duty this evening. We will see if acme is proactive when handling the safety of their customers. We will follow up. read more

would like to give zero stars. worst acme. displays are always blocking aisles. they have now made the entrance an aisle stocked with crap that is available inside the store. this creates a hazard along with the parking they allow in the fire lane. they have all these extra displays clogging up the aisles it's hard to navigate when it's busy. they also allow dogs/pets - NOT SERVICE - and they don't care that they are selling food & it is unsanitary to have dogs in your store - especially on weekends when they have uncovered open bags of bagels sitting out. Brigantine Location only: Horrible Horrible Horrible Food. I live on Brigantine Island full time. Shop here constantly thinking some day the Manager will get the hint and do better - But No. Its impossible to get ahold of any Manager, District manager, VP, CEO, etc.... your phone calls are routed to the Philippines. What a joke. Everytime I purchase meat or chicken (if they even have steaks that day - which usually they don't) I bring it home, open it, and it's already rotten and smelly. At first, I just kept throwing the meat away, got sick of that and started returning it. Even the pre-packaged meats are expired. All chicken is old, expired, already has an old greasy film on it, except Perdue brand (which they are always out of). Oh forget going there on a Sunday, Mon, or Tues. There will be NO lettuce, or organic berries, brown rotten bananas. Whomever is the buyer for the Brigantine needs to do his job and step up to the plate. Don't you hear out complaints ? all lines were busy so I went to self check out and no one was there. A employee at the checkout said I had too many items. The sign said about 20 items, I had 23. Are you kidding me. The only grocery in town, apparently, and during COVID times in the middle of winter, honestly the easiest place I could find to park and use the loo. YES, I ADMIT IT, I WENT TO ACME TO USE THE LOO. It was clean and easy to find and who needs to say anything else when your bladder is bursting and you can't find a public restroom in an unfamiliar town. Only 10 minutes over a little bridge from A.C. It has everything we needed, even dog pads. Prices were good and sales too. Just don't buy the store brand salted caramel ice cream, horrible and way too salty. Buy another brand. read more

To say Acme Brigantine is a cruel joke would be an insult to cruel jokes. By far, this has got to be one of the most poorly designed Acme's ever! I gave them one star mainly for their checkout experience. Not enough stations, long lines and sales register staff who all seem to suffer from the same malady, rendering them incapable of even the tiniest of niceties or facial gesture remotely resembling a smile. I try to avoid this grocery store shit-show as often as possible, opting for the ShopRite, or Acme offshore. Whoever the architect was for this store's layout should be made to shop here for the remainder of his or her life, and only on weekends! read more

I give this store 1 star. Had an altercation with guy in deli when he sliced the wrong cheese and I told him I didn't want it. Made reference to "I must not be from around here because that's not how it's ordered! Are you from Philly? I told him NY and I think that really set him off. Very confrontational disrespectful and rude. He then walked into the back and refused to serve me. My husband who ordered the cheese got the manager of the store and the the guy still insisted on being right. I'm not from Brigantine but to all of you who are, No need for your harsh words. My tourist dollars pave your roads supplement your taxes and keep the beach clean. I'm from the beautiful Hudson Valley in NY and we embrace our tourists because of their economic support to our farmers and businesses. Shame on all of you who embrace this deli workers view. My family loves Brigantine and will continue to come back. The other store employees were gracious and helpful. I won't paint them with the same brush. This deli worker clearly has issues since the store clerks knew exactly who we were referring to. Look folks. It's the only game in town and you can tell that they try. But sale items sometimes force you to buy like 4 or 6 for a slightly lower price. The isles are tight. The ceiling is old which can mean dirty and the place needs a makeover badly. They could also use another 60,000 square feet of space. If you have a choice bring what you can and supplement here. I visit Brigantine Beach Resorts almost every year. When I settle down in my condo with my Acme staples I am so contented, watching television, resting and planning my vacation week. Acme is part of the vacation experience. It is clean, has a beachy vibe, people are friendly and vibrant. I love the place. The Brigantine Acme has so much energy - it exudes a positive expectation of good things to come during my vacation. Keep the good vibes going! read more

As the only standard supermarket on the island, it's not a horrible option. I regularly shop at another Acme location and feel this one is consistent in terms of products and pricing. Of course, I still need to fully learn my way around the store, but that's expected as each location doesn't have an identical layout. I've found this Acme to be slightly chaotic towards the front of the store. I've seen a few bottle neck traffic issues when trying to enter/exit. I've also never seen an associate working near the self-checkout. Maybe that's the difference between a "city" store and a "suburban" store, but it was a little frustrating, especially during the Monopoly game piece giveaway times. Supplement your shopping with Acme and the island pharmacies, and you'll probably do A-Okay. read more

I was in your store for the first time yesterday. I cannot express in words how delighted I was with the experience. I travel 30 minutes to get to your store and I will gladly do it again. The store is set up so I can easily find every item I needed. Every employee I came in contact with from grocery ,to meat ,to produce ,to Bakery,to Deli, to register,we're so Pleasant,and helpful !! All of the items I purchased were fresh,and the prices were wonderful!! The store is immaculately clean,and we'll stocked. I just wanted to let you know what a great job you're doing. read more

Truthfully, I despise this Acme. It is insanely small and the aisles are far too narrow. There is no possible way for two people walking opposite directions with carts to make it down an aisle comfortably. It's just insanity considering how packed this Acme gets in the summer. There's nothing that irritates me more than attempting to manuever my cart up and down crammed aisles with three overweight women in bikinis flanking me on every side so I can pick up some overpriced produce. That's not even an exaggeration. The people at the deli have no idea how to slice lunchmeat. They also package it really sloppily. That being said, this Acme has some of the nicest and friendliest employees I've ever encountered. And it's soooo close to my condo. Why leave the island if all I need is a few (price-gouged) avocados???? read more

I am rating this for the hoagies/subs, and the convenience for the location. They are a typical beach grocery joint, but I will say that their subs to go are to die for! If you are coming to the beach for vacation, and just need something to have to bring to the beach, or something quick for the kids and family, I would highly recommend grabbing a few of their subs for the house to have on hand! read more

Acme is the only grocery game on Brigantine, and I am grateful that we have this market on the island. In the summer it is a bit of a madhouse; I suspect these reviews are mostly by summer visitors. In the summer, I find a sharp increase in rude, inconsiderate and, selfish conduct in the store. My suggestion is go late at night or early in the morning- fewer people, easier to navigate. The store has great specials in produce (nice selection) and meats. The fish selections are usually great, especially the fresh and local catch. Yes, it's small. Yes, it's cramped for a full service grocery. Yes, canned good prices and some staples are more expensive than high volume stores. But you'll find what you want at the Brig ACME. And if you just take your time and relax, you will probably enjoy the trip. read more

Yes, the isles are small. They don't have too great of a selection. These are the things I would expect from a sleepy beach town grocer. The prices are higher than I am used to on some things. I have had good luck with the produce here. This place will work for your groceries on the island, and no one would ever seeking this place out otherwise. So, it does it's job well enough. read more

I went to Acme in Brigantine last night and purchased a hunk of Jarlesberg Cheese which I have done many times. I was planning on grilled cheese and some chili on this frigid evening. I opened the package and it looked old and dry, took a bite and it didn't taste right. I looked at the date and it said it was packaged on 12/15/17 and best if purchased by 1/29/18. Upon closer inspection the tag was simply covering the original tag which said that it was packaged on 11/18/17 and had a best purchased date of 1/2/18. Mind you, the price was $2 cheaper per lb than the original tag but non the less not edible. I took it back and the clerk at Customer Service was perplexed by my inquiry, she affably returned my money despite not having the receipt, being that I had just purchased lottery tickets from her on my first trip. She also said that I may get a new hunk of cheese at no cost, which was great. I grabbed a smaller hunk thinking I didn't want to be a pig. Upon getting back to the counter, I discovered this hunk too had been re-tagged in the exact same method. People were called and the first to arrive said, "that is Deli's". The manager was called but did not arrive by the time I had no thanks to an offer on 'something else'. Be aware, this may not just be happening to hunks of cheese. read more

If I could give ZERO rating I would! Racist place myself African American & my boyfriend Puerto Rican. Idk who's more racist the customer or WORKERS! Been in this place 3 times! 1 time a customer wouldn't move when I said excuse me 3 times to the point I had to tell her move or I was going to hit her w/ the cart! ( while pushing my cart through their extremely small aisles) #2 the cashier didn't greet me but was definitely engaging conversation w/ the "white people" then kept saying my card was declining for 10cent? Which was false had $100 of dollars on my card wasn't understanding why she would blurt that out in front of a bunch of white people. ( oh yeah I know to humiliate me ) #3 their bags are 10cent adv cashier I didn't want bags as I was putting my groceries in the cart the cashier literally looked over the register to see if I was stealing until my boyfriend called him out. I had to ask a black worker how does she even deal w/ the racist! My son even cried when I told him he couldn't get chips bc these people don't like the color of money skin & I wasn't putting more $ into their business! 3 times the charm I'm so done w/ BRIG & BRIG ACME! Prices in this store are outrageously high and they constantly have a scam with their chicken breasts. They charge 5.99 a lb for chicken breasts and sometimes offer a special bogo free, and keep the difference from the price of the 2 items. Most reasonable stores offer the same chicken breasts for 3.99 a lb ALL THE TIME!! The temperature that they keep the meat at is also high, I've had my chicken spoil before. I'll try my best not to give these clowns my business, although it is hard because it's the only supermarket in Brigantine. read more

Nothing unexpected for a small town grocery. Not the worst place in the world. Definitely not where you want to be on the weekend with the nutty out-of-towners. Selection is fine enough. Produce is lacking but not terrible. Not a fan of the meats - prices are better I think at Ernest and Son. The prices do seem to go up markedly in summer, but I guess that's to be expected.
