Just found out this location will close as of November 4, 2019. Well...it certainly wasn't the same since Food Emporium left. Slowly, each of the original employees that made this place so great...also departed. Vera, Sue, Jeff, Jeff, Kevin and yes of course, Matt. ACME was the worst of the 3 stores (but I never had the heart to leave a bad review as some of the aforementioned people still worked there). I go there frequently and I like selection and workers are nice for the most part, however, stay away from salad bar or any food they are serving. I do like there freshly backed bread! read more

It is unfortunate that this is the "new store" in town. The company has not even made an effort to do something creative or innovative. This area is desperate for a terrific supermarket with great produce. Too bad they didn't move the Fresh Market into this location. They kept some of the old staff. The parking lot is excellent. This place is horrible compared to the A&P it was before. They are always out of products (shelves look like a storm is about to hit), the products they do carry are lower quality than before, and there isn't much selection at all (specialty items are almost nonexistent). Other than a handful of employees (most of whom stayed on during the transition) most people you deal with are rude, careless, and uninterested in helping...sometimes all 3! The kicker is that they removed the 4 self checkout registers so now, no matter what time of day you go, you are guaranteed to wait on line for at least 10 mins. Oh how I wish A&P would resurrect from bankruptcy. read more

Horrific experience ! I recently purchased 3 food gift cards totaling $1500. I did this for humanitarian reasons ! Upon receiving the gift cards , only one out of three worked. I have called numerous times, spoke to Jessie and Shay, both of whom clearly don't care and can not get resolved. To date , after three months , still no resolution as I am out $1000. I'm so disappointed in Acme markets and will not shop there again. Not only for their inabailty to resolve a basic customer service issue , but for being so insesnsative towards a good deed. read more

Haven't shopped here since Food Emporium/A&P left. Never the same customer service, shelves not stocked with the products I purchase, Deli counter had awful looking food whereas the Food Emporium always looked fab and delectable. Such a shame. Miss the caring and kind people that the Food Emporium had from the 30+ years I had been shopping there from the time I had moved here purchasing baby food for my new family. No local supermarket to go to now. Kevin at the Deli counter still there but not the same quality food, Matt still there to ask, "how are you?" but not the same corporate culture, and cashiers who never smile, don't say thank you, cannot do math unless it shows on the cashier, etc,etc, etc. Just so sad. I have shopped here a few times. I never will again. I bought turkey meat 2 of the Times, first time it was rotten- I thought it was a fluke. It's almost a year later, I tried again..... ROTTEN. The meat was not expired nor did it look weird. When I opened the package it smelled like it had been sitting out in the sun for 12 hours. It's -10 degrees outside. This is terrible. You should be ashamed to sell food. Your staff is mean and rude. No one is helpful. read more

Fresh fruits. Hit or miss on the vegetables, same with the meats. Some of the same folks that worked at the previous A&P/Food Emporium work at Acme now - good customer service. But some (all I'm going to say is that it's a "she") of the folks at the deli area can cheer up a little. I do like the option of using smaller carts. Very convenient to pick up basics like milk, snacks, etc. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand, it's well kept and reasonably stocked. On the other hand, I have some major reservations. So, I get it. This is in Scarsdale, a fairly upscale area. I don't really feel this excuses price gouging, which is exactly what is happening in the meat department. Prices for chicken, for example, are running 300-400% above the local Shoprite, for EXACTLY the same brands and cuts. Their beef and pork are running 200% - 300% above. This is ridiculous. I discussed it with the management there, who are well aware of it, and whose main response was essentially, "We don't set the prices, we put it out and people buy it or not. " They don't seem interested in improving things. Some staff shared with me privately that they shop elsewhere. read more

They need some basic customer service training for their staff. There was an item that was placed too high for me to reach (I am an average height woman). I was already annoyed that I would have to waste my time finding someone to help me get it. The male employee I politely asked for help continually mocked me copying me in a high-pitched voice "I can't reach it...I can't reach it" while he grudgingly got it for me. This was right after he had politely helped a male customer. When he located the item I wanted he waited another minute saying "are you sure this is it?" And again repeating "I can't reach it, I can't reach it." Just so he could continue to humiliate me a little longer. Maybe he thought he was being funny?? Hilarious. read more

When this place opened they lowered their prices to attract customers and soon after they raised their prices on virtually everything, and by a lot. I will only go there to purchase a single item but never to purchase numerous items. It is far cheaper to go to Stop & Shop over in Eastchester. People realize this and ACME does very little business compared to Stop & Shop. It is a matter of time before ACME goes out of business. There is also no self checkout line at ACME. I can get rid of my spare change at the self checkout line which is convenient. Not possible at ACME. read more

I give this store 5 stars because the staff could not be more helpful or friendly - and the speed of checkout is impressive. In addition, the displays of food could not be more attractive - they are camera-ready - the produce is always fresh. In addition, the circulars point you to great bargains. [As an aside, I believe Brendan F. (another reviewer) must be from a competing supermarket because his review in no way reflects the reality of the store.] My only suggestion is that you have some p/r to attract more customers to see what a great store you have. I don't know about how other people think, but if I didn't know Acme was replacing Food Emporium, I would think "Acme is probably a hardware store". You might have costumed actors at the bottom of the hill to introduce the store. (I have from time to time had to direct people to the location of the store from the bottom of the hill.) I also think a tasting bar would be very helpful - in addition to the value of introducing products to customers - you have the value that everybody loves something free - no matter how small. In addition, people love special events - e.g., a guest cook who would demonstrate ideas for product use that might be new ideas to some of your customers. Or perhaps boards on large tripods featuring recipes that use your products. (Some of this could be comedic) Or even earphones next to products to give info on the products, and again suggested recipes. In short, I think this is a model store, but it needs to be advertised. read more
