I'm actually disappointed I have to write this review and stop coming here. But this is the second time I bought a marble pound cake and found aluminum embedded into the cake. The first time there were large bits of aluminum on the bottom so it was easy to avoid. This time I'm certain I ate some as I noticed it in my mouth and then saw small bits of aluminum on it. Not sure how they're handling these cakes and I am a big fan of them but I will not be returning. That is unacceptable. read more

Atrocious service. I bought a slice of cheesecake and brought it back because it tasted spoiled and sour. After I explained what happened the woman took the box from and told me I did not need to return it and she said she would throw it out as she told me to calm down. No I am so sorry how can I make this right? I asked for 2 items both lower cost than the cheesecake and she comp'd one and charged full price for the other. When I pointed this out she said it was only a dollar less and she has no way to apply that to the second item. This bakery in Scarsdale was nice and cozy. I stopped in for a quick sweet treat and was impressed by the variety of options available. They had a wide range of cakes, pastries and sandwiches. I chose some macarons, and they were incredibly fresh and delicious. There isn't much indoor seating, but on a warm day, the outdoor seating would be a lovely spot to sit and enjoy your treats. I had a slice of tiramisu and a cappuccino. I was very disappointed. The tiramisu had no flavor, no decadence- it was strange that stop and shop's version has more flavor! The cappuccino was burned tasting and also pretty awful. I don't think I would ever suggest this establishment. We go to Martinne's as a break from the day-to-day and lately it's always been a wonderful experience albeit a little pricey. A few years ago, staff outright arguing with each other behind the counter then projecting it to the customers kept us away for a while. We were happy to find that there's completely new staff and these women are just ON it. Friendly, professional-- always a pleasure. So many beautiful desserts; the danishes make me weak! The BEST bake shop in Scarsdale for all your pastry needs. We have Buon Amici for great sandwiches and the Parkway Dinner for omelets. Located next to the Parkway Cafe I'd Martine's. They have good coffee and even better pastries. I personally am a scone lover. There chocolate chip scones are great but are blown out of the water by their raspberry scone. Hands down is now my #1 top pick for scones. My ultimate favorite scone in existence was a chocolate chip raspberry scone but sadly that location no longer exists in the Hamptons. Their biscuits are dangerously good. Just a perfect biscuit. If you are looking for a good Challah or Babka, they are amazing here. For Thanksgiving, their pies are amazing too. This location of Martine's features some mighty tasty baked goods--sweet and savory alike! So check it out if you are nearby. Most recently, we stopped in for breakfast, which was great. I got the ham and spinach quiche (definitely recommended and a huge portion). Tony got one of the English Muffin breakfast sandwiches, which he also enjoyed! I actually tasted of his and can vouch for its yumminess. As for their desserts, I can attest to those too! On the visit described above, we got a Key Lime Pie to take home and eat later. It was super tasty! I definitely recommend this particular sweet! Note that this location is small, but they do a good Job with social distancing! In other words, you might have to wait outside because there's a limit on the number of people that can go in at one time. But, I'm glad about that because it keeps everybody safe. read more

I love to go their to grab banana nut bread or a cake (this time I picked up a blueberry lemon crumble cake) before visiting a friend. It's a lovely item to bring to someone's house. I come here probably once every couple weeks often times to pick up some rather toothsome macaroons, and a banana strawberry smoothie for my daughter. Knowing that she probably won't be overly grateful, I preemptively treat myself to cup of coffee to enjoy whilst she gullets down her food. Somehow, going into a fancy French bakery and getting a coffee seems to imbue it with a sense of sophistication that might not be quite as possible if you were to drive through Dunkin' Donuts. So bearing that in mind, the coffee did not have the strong bitterness, that I often find a Starmucks [sic] or the cosmopolitan flavors of a Dunkin' Donuts. It was smack them in the middle. They also put in the exact perfect amount of skim milk, and Splenda. Samplings coffee for this review, I chose to add no flavors, no fancy, powders, or off the beaten path types of milk. It had a very smooth texture and had a richness and depth to it that I found quite enjoyable. It was served piping hot. Frankly, it was delicious. Getting to the actual store, it's a Parisian bakery. At that, it was very small, and there were no seats inside to sit. Is this the way it is in France? Maybe people and friends are a little skinnier or otherwise diminutive. If you were to try to peer into the glass display cases at their wonderfully fancy baked, the area in front of it could really accommodate just one lane of people. Or maybe if the people were not so generously sized, just possibly two lanes. Maybe. There are about a half a dozen tables outside of the coffee shop/bakery, but it was pretty cold when I was there. Maybe that works during the spring winter or fall, but just not today for me. That said, the baked goods were absolutely to die for. I've sampled them many times, and each time has not been a disappointment. Yes, of course, things have gotten very expensive and this place is no exception. That said, if you're going to pay three or four times what you thought something should cost--at least here they are absolutely delicious. The service is quite excellent, and the folks at the counter very dutiful, purposeful and always get the order just right. read more

Not a big fan of the chocolate mousse or the tiramisu. The sticky label was quite challenging to peel off. The creamy mousse just wasn't quite worth the extra work. The bubblegum topper didn't quite jive with the mousse and whipped cream would have paired better.
