I like that they are always running good sales but I dont buy meats here as they don't have good selection. Same with frozen food. I haven't shopped in ACME for years, I really only grocery shop mainly at ShopRite but I came here because Carvel didn't have anymore square ice cream cakes and I needed a large one for my family for Fathers Day. They had it and I was quickly in and out on the self checkout line. I came in here looking for just one thing so I can't comment on the whole store but it seemed cleaned for the most part. read more

Out of all the supermarket chains in White Plains like Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Stop & Shop, Hmart and ACME- I'm not sure who's the fiercest competitor- because each of them make a play for our daily food dollars in different ways. But as we are all taking every precaution on being safe during the Coronavirus pandemic, I recently visited my local Stop & Shop in N. White Plains and noticed they were all out of sanitizing surface wipes, not enough water, limited canned goods or TP (I still don't get that part but yeah....I drank the toilet paper kool-aid) so I came here. Let's talk about the elephant in the room- their rating is just low and I'll admit, this location is outdated, ceiling panels are outdated, I feel closed in and sometimes the produce doesn't look happy. Anyhow...even though I'm in the 100A Rt, Dobbs Ferry Rd and Knollwood Rd. area like daily, somehow, that's still not enough to make me want to shop here- perhaps all those reasons? Located in the Greenburgh Shopping Center, ACME isn't as large as most supermarkets go but it does the job. Especially when I recently visited to stock my pantry and hallway closet. ACME's layout still remains the same since taking over the old A&P, produce shelves and all others don't look that empty plus aisles are ok and workable I guess. Their dairy section- especially the yogurt, is one to rave about when I noticed the same Chobani (dairy) yogurt brand I swore by, has a non-dairy, coconut milk-based option- which my local Stop & Shop doesn't have or my much-loved Trader J's. Sometimes I even compare my most commonly purchased items, and how they compare price-wise at each competing market. Quality and variety is important to me so when stacked up against Stop & Shop, I think ACME might be the most economical (for certain things) out of the two- plus their non-dairy supply (in my case) is much better- as I noticed. read more

I was so disappointed when I cut open my avocados and all four of them were completely rotten inside. I purchased them from Acme in Yonkers two days ago. They were still too hard to eat, so I waited until today to cut them open and they were absolutely inedible! Avoid the man who stocks the food in the frozen food aisle. He is mean and nasty to the customers. On several occasions he has behaved inappropriately to me when I asked for help. At first he completely ignored me and so I had to repeatedly ask for assistance. When he finally did help me he never spoke, pointed to what I was looking for, and then turned away in disgust. After doing this to me several times, I witnessed him do this to another woman today. She was very upset at the way he treated her and I went over to talk to her. We discussed how we were both treated and agreed that if this man does not like his job, then he shouldn't be working there! I try not to come here, only when I have to. I used to buy firewood from here but when I'd load it into my car I'd always get asked if I paid for it. Then I'd have to wait for a manager to come out and look at my receipt. So I stopped. Today, I went in to buy Halloween candy on my way to work. I went to the cashier who didn't have anyone in her lane, her name is Evadney according to my receipt, she encouraged me to go to the self-service check-out instead. I told her I was good where I was because I already put everything on the conveyor belt. She then scanned my items, became unfriendly, didn't say anything as she looked away and handed me my receipt. No goodbye, good day, after I thanked her. Evadney, if you don't want to work, don't. If you are standing behind an open register with the light on and all you are doing is having conversations with coworkers, I'm sorry it's expected you help customers right? It's always a messy encounter inside this Acme. But always a fun review to write. read more

Store open until midnight. Tried to return an item at 10pm prior to shopping this evening, but Customer Service was closed and "head cashier" was absolutely no help. So you can take money until midnight, but if I want to return something - I must return in the morning? And this "was" my local store. Will drive to Stop&Shop for better customer service. read more

This is the former A&P Super Market. The good: The cleanliness and the visual appeal of the store has improved somewhat since the takeover by ACME. Prices have also improved somewhat. The bad: The parking lot, the lighting outside of the store, and interior still leave a lot to be desired. The ugly: for the most part the service level inside of store is still atrocious. read more

Its convenient and for the few products that I do buy, mainly milk/yogurt/OJ, it works. I buy organic and their prices are competitive. I shop here as well as whole foods, trader joes and stop and shop. The store is dingy and needs updating. Check out has improved (as guess not that many people are shopping here). They FINALLY fixed the door where you don't have to go through the wrong exit at night that was a REAL pain. No complaints with cashiers. Customer Service is hit or miss. The entrance stinks because of the bottle return. read more

ACME is well-stocked for a small neighborhood grocery store. The cashiers are a different story.....in particular the constantly nasty cashier who this week got offended when I placed the separation bar on the conveyer belt. She snatched it off and told me " I'm not a moron". Seems the like the nasty cashier torch has been passed from the old A&P to ACME. They can use a self-checkout lane to avoid this cashier's perpetual drama. read more

Conveniently a 5,10 minute drive from my apartment, I stop by here mostly nights after work to pick up a few things. This location is open until midnight on most nights. It has a similar selection to what the A&P had in my opinion. Service is good, have not had a bad experience here. read more

I'll say it right out loud! All of you naysayers haven't been to the Knollwood Acme in Greenburgh where they are doing EVERYTHING right! The new store layout, their private labels-- Lancaster (Meat) Lucerne (Dairy) and Signature (everything else, including ready to eat foods)--are simply outstanding and at prices way below ANY OTHER MARKET in the area. While it's not a huge footprint, it has everything--from inexpensive and fresh live lobsters to meat bundles (4 for $19.95) that can add up to $36 purchased separately; to wonderful piping hot mini meatloaves that amply serve 3 for around $7. Add in their wonderful produce, dairy, on-premises bakery departments you'll also find ethnic specialties and brands plus prepared soups like the Thai Coconut Ginger for $6.99 serves 4!. And you can get in and out pretty quickly. Judging by the constant flow of orderly traffic throughout the pandemic, and the fact that they were mostly always in-stock, I'm not the only one who has a great shopping experience at Acme. Some of these old and nasty/fictional reviews should be expunged from this site. No one can see inside a hard avocado...so if you get bad ones which I have lately at Stew Leonard's, Trader Joes, Stop and Shop, Whole Foods and ShopRite, just bring them back. It's a worldwide produce issue, not the fault of the supermarket. At Acme, they are 6 for $5 for the minis and usually 3 for $5 for the large size. Check my restaurant reviews and you'll see I tell it like it is. BTW, Acme is part of the 63.5 billion$ Albertson's family that also includes the legendary Randall's that was my go-to place in Houston when I lived there, as well as Von's, Plated, Safeway, etc. The company is 81 years old and listens to its customers. read more

Very bad experience this morning. After one of the guys who stocks shelves took care of the faulty "bin full" issue with the plastic bottle machine, I had requested he stay close in case I had an issue again. And i did. When i reached out to him while he was stocking shelves, he ignored me, as if i were a ghost. As did other employees there. The short manager, Nick, whom i've had the misfortune of having to deal with in the latter days of A&P closing & becoming ACME, copped his power trip Napoleon complex attitude again with me. He felt the need to tell me the limit on returns in a day is 240, seemingly ignorant to the real issue that the machine has issues, as i clearly had less than 100 empties to return. Got to the store by 9 AM. Spent over an hour waiting for them to take their sweet ass time addressing the issue with the machine & then finally being able to do my shopping. This happened 12 hours ago, & I still have not cooled down about it, & don't usually go out of my way to write reviews on anything, positive or negative. I'm outraged & disgusted by the poor customer service, especially from a manager with a bad attitude. read more

The supermarket is irritating. It's not ghetto or dirty like some of the trolls leaving reviews for likes and attention are saying. It's the products they stopped carrying when they took over the A&P. The "sales" are still really expensive. The quality of the baked goods are subpar. The store brand line isn't that great. And yes the produce like fruits and vegetables are not that fresh. It doesn't help that when they first opened, the team that put things together there weren't very friendly and we are a small community. The elderly have stopped coming because they don't like it there. And I miss the little discount key tag cards because they don't have them here. We actually go to other local towns to supermarkets like stop & shop, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and ShopRite now, some of them are literally just a few extra minutes drive away. Acme had big shoes to fill and this chain doesn't seem to fit our neighborhood. They're redoing the store now and I honestly don't think it will make a difference. It's just off. read more
