I am on my way to a meeting and it completely escaped my mind that I needed to bring a dish for the potluck theme. So I was half way up shitzcreek and luckily my lack of a paddle was of no consequence because Jeremy in the bakery department came through with a delicious double fudge chocolate cake. 2.5: The former home of an A&P market, Acme recently took over, keeping the structure within pretty much the same. The prices are lower than A&P was in general but the service is poorer. With a tagline like "getting better every day," I guess they know that they need to improve. The staff at the Starbucks also seems less trained and knowledgeable than previously and the people working at the checkout lines seem like they don't know what they're doing in general. This may be because the staff is completely new, but then management needs to put in better training. They also didn't seem very accommodating, when I had a coupon that wasn't applied to my receipt and I didn't realize but brought it back, the checkout person said they couldn't do anything but didn't check with a manager. I come back here sometimes because of the prices and there's never a crowd (which probably says something). However, I don't like it that much and hope that they improve. They should also bring back the self-checkout lines. Why get rid of them? Overall, I don't think it's a HUGE step down from A&P, which wasn't that great either, but there's definitely a lot of room for growth. read more

I've been going here back when this was and A&P market, and ever since Acme took over, it just continued to go downhill. When you walk in it smells of bad seafood mixed with a zoo... and it looks disorganized and outdated. Floors and carts are dirty, and some isles are completely void of products. The arrangement of the isles and produce isn't really thought out in regards to the flow of everything. They have a Starbucks which is nice to sip and shop, and sometimes they have really good discounts to compete with Wegmans such as free milk, eggs, or a bag of avocados in addition to 10% off your shopping order. Wegmans has these as well however, so it takes a lot to make it back to this place. read more

Is there an option for zero stars?! This place has gone so down hill since A&P shut down. This Acme constantly has expired food on the shelves. Doesn't matter what department, it's expired. Countless times I've found myself coming back to return expired food or leaving it at the register after realizing its several months old. This place is useless, just go to wegmans, it's only a mile down the road. read more

This store is consistent with selling EXPIRED food. Every single time i go i find expired food. It doesn't matter what department, there is always something being sold beyond the expiration date. NO ONE CARES! the manager didn't care when I complained, he complained right along with me! I'm done with this place. I'm reporting them to the health department. Thank God for Wegmans. read more

Same A&P bricks and mortar, same old poor Acme service. The deli counter is excruciatingly slow! It took me as long to get 1/2lb of meat at the deli as it did to complete the entire rest of my shopping! The snail's pace continued with few registers open (closing 4 self-serve and replacing them with 2 manned registers doesn't help), long lines, and then to complete the poor service, a cashier refused to let a customer use the bigger cart to carry out her bagged groceries which bagged, no longer fit well in the smaller cart. The cashier kept calling customer service for a cart to be brought in from outside, making the whole line wait. The customer kept telling the cashier that if she could just have the cart SITTING RIGHT THERE EMPTY, she could move along, stop holding up the line, and the cart being called for could just replace the one SITTING RIGHT THERE EMPTY. Hope employees will use logic in the future and not just blindly follow procedure (esp. if it is a minor rule being made exception to which would have a large service impact). In a business of razor thin margins and Amazon Pantry increasing the pressure, customer service = repeat visits and increased volume. Bears keeping in mind as Acme enters Northern Bergen County. read more

Awful awful awful! The frozen seafood is often thawed. The fresh seafood weighs less than it's labeled. I bought their fresh salsa and upon opening, it tasted radioactive and clearly was teaming with bacteria. If blindfolded, you'd never know what their deli egg salad was supposed to be. To say this should be your last resort is an understatement. read more

they have no customer service the jerk at the customer service desk is a moron, bar none. I bought a few items and when I picked up the plastic bag with 1/2 a gallon of milk in it, the bag broke, so i threw it in the trash can by the front door and went back and got another, I paid for it at the customer service desk and told him that the bag broke when I picked it up, he said 'well you could have pushed a button and the turn table would have moved around and made it earlier to pick up' as he was ringing up the charge for the milk. I said I didn't know you could push a button to move it around. Well duh! he should have out of customer service said no charge for the milk as the bag broke, I will never shop or step foot in this store again after 16 years of doing business there, before it was Acme it was A& P. They wonder why they are suffering for business, they don't train their employees in any customer care skills. read more

Purchased a dressing mix in May 2016 that expired in January 2016. They have expired items all over the store, so check dates carefully. Got rid of the self checkouts, which I used all the time, and they never ask for your My Mixx number. They actually often get impatient if you try to give them one! Produce quality is awful - flavorless pineapple, and when I tried to buy strawberries there was literally at least one moldy strawberry in every single container. Plus they do not carry a lot of items that other markets have - variety is very limited, and very inconsistent. Not a fan. But the staff is generally very nice. read more

This new acme replaces the a & P NOW BANKRUPT. This is not the kind of supermarket we like in this area. It is absolutely pathetic. Where the old store had a beautiful produce dept., this is a nasty and dirty area with no upscale products. Furthermore, they are not going to carry the grocery items that we are used to. What were they thinking when they bought this market? TTHE OLD EXPRESSION ABOUT ACME IS NEVER MORE ON THE MONEY, A AND P FRESH, ACME STALE. Stay away folks!! read more

very confused by this store - went to the one in Montvale and looked at the gray roast beef in the deli counter and left feeling nauseous. Tried this one in WCL and picked up a few things - when I got to the cashier who rang up Applegate Farms turkey breast for over $9 when I can order it from FreshDirect for $5.50, I decided not to buy anything. Any organic items at this store are double what you would pay somewhere else. We're not stupid Acme and also not going to pay over $7 for a box of organic cereal. read more

This store has now been officially opened for the past 8 months. This used to be the A&P. I've tried giving them some time to sort out their kinks but the truth is, it's poorly run. There seems to be many people in charge just walking around all the time. The checkout lines are ridiculous in the middle of the day. They've stopped carrying many brands. Their produce department is over priced and quality is poor. Fresh Market up to the street has much better priced produce and organic. The only reason I've continued going there is mostly for Starbucks and having said that, I only go when I know the good baristas are working. Zuhra and German are the only ones there that can prepare drinks the proper way. They are constantly hiring new staff for deli department, most of the new people are LAZY and pretend they don't see you so they don't have to help you. I have started driving further distance to other markets to do my shopping. I honestly find going there very frustrating and since several of our home daily items are no longer carried, I've moved on. read more

Acme bought a perfectly good A&P and ran it into the ground in less than a year. They have no regard for the customer they're supposed to be serving. They either ruined or eliminated the store made items in the deli and bakery. They changed to lancaster meat which has an unpleasant taste. They stopped carrying many, many, many everyday items in the grocery, snack, and cleaning product aisles. And a lot of what they do have is outdated. They had ham steaks advertised as buy one get one free and the use buy date had past. And the once immaculate store looks dirty. I feel sorry for the store employees, all they get are complaints. In the meantime, we have a Kings, Shop Rite, Fresh Market and Stop and Shop nearby. read more

I am really not happy, the produce section was nice but I picked up a gallon of milk and didn't think of looking at the expiration date. The dang thing was set to expire in 4 days! I bought it on Tuesday, March 29th, by today (Friday April 1st) it smells sour and had to dump almost all of it out ,,aot of it, The expiration date was April 2nd, most grocery stores pull their near expired stuff a week before no one wants to buy a gallon of milk that will expire in a couple of days. I used to work in a grocery store, maybe even more than a week before. If I had my receipt I would go back but I threw it out. Do not need to go there again, if you go check your expiration dates. read more
