Dreadful experience. This ShopRite is located on a main road in Hillsdale. Plenty of parking. That's where the joy ends. Yes, you'll find many of the expected items here, but will struggle with finding stuff you might see at your favorite supermarkets. I asked the front end cashier who was managing the self checkout registers where I could find charcoal. She hesitated, then asked two others standing around by the front. They all concurred that it would be in the front hall, on your way out. I checked that location and only saw firewood. Guess they might not know the difference. Then I went to customer service to ask them. The guy working there asked me to hold on, said he'd be right back, then must have disappeared to go watch a movie or something. He, not anyone else, ever returned to assist me. I returned everything I had in my cart and left the store, annoyed, then went to my usual ShopRite. I won't be going in here again, but if you need grocery store basics, maybe you can find it here. read more

A little frills, typically lower cost grocery store with more mainstream items. This Shop Rite location is pretty dated but a good size. Others seem to complain about the parking lot which is long, rather than boxy, but since it never seems that busy, I don't think it's a real problem. Haven't had any real issues. read more

This is the absolute best Shop Rite, from the amazing, friendly woman who works the seafood counter to the butchers who always make sure my marrow bones for my dogs are cut perfectly for them. My absolute favorite department is the floral department. I absolutely love the women who work there. I'm so stupid for forgetting their names, as they always remember mine. They were so helpful when I needed to order a large amount of flowers for a bridal shower I was coordinating as I am an Event Planner. My client requested a flower bar and those women were so knowledgeable and helpful. I'll never use any other florist again. They even helped bring all my buckets of flowers to my car on a busy Saturday afternoon. I can't thank them enough. The absolute best and the flowers literally lasted for weeks. The greatest value for your money with the absolute top notch service. I'm going to update this when I get their names. Love them!! read more

The cold cut counter is a nightmare! I dread going there, so lately I have been going to Stop & Shop in Emerson.

I said it should not be there and should be removed at which time she ran over to remove sign. She would not honor the discount that was posted even when it was their fault. Produce could be better handled and fresher. I would never buy berries from here because they are usually mushy from probably improper handling and the strawberries always have mold on them. My biggest issue with any store is shopping carts with garbage in the them. I understand people are slobs and leave their trash in the cart sometimes, but whoever collects them could clean them out. Yesterday I pulled three carts out before getting one that was clean. One had used tissues in it and one had 4 EMPTY CANS OF BEER laying in it. Don't get any of the prepared foods. Might as well get canned foods, open it in the parking lot, kick it around and eat it off the ground. Would probably taste better. The sushi tastes like two day old rice...or rice being thrown out by the takeout Chinese place across the street from last week. Inserra corporate...fire the prepared food crew. I shop in this store often and find that there are two or three check out employees who are usually courteous . One gentleman in particular is helpful He's the only one who helps bag my grocery, I am 76 years old and have tendonitis in my wrist and elbow hence would need help in bagging grocery. Can you tell me why your check out employees don't bag the groceries anymore? If Covid is a concern, then you should have your employees go back to wear masks and gloves. The online shopping experience was highly disappointing. (1) My pick-up order was 1.5 hours delayed. I waited in the store as a flustered employee gathered my groceries from the aisles. (2) In my order, I noted "No plastic bags, only paper bags please." Every single item was in its own plastic bag! It was overkill. I asked the staff if they'd read my note. The response was "We only use plastic. I have to ask my manager." I wish the staff read my note when I placed the order and told me that paper wasn't possible. It never use plastic since it's terrible for our health and the planet. (3) Most of the fruit was missing from my order. I noticed this the next day and called to inquire. Alas, the crate of fruit was sitting in their fridge. No one from Shoprite noticed this overnight. (4) When I picked up the fruit, no staff was attending to the pick-up counter. The store itself is ok. It's the parking lot I have a problem with. This store happens to attract a ton of seniors - especially those who are a good 10 years past the date when they shouldn't drive. Most of them in 1970's Lincoln Town Car, Cadillac Sedan DeVille & Ford Crown Victoria - all trying to maneuver their boats in this sea of spaces. In front of the store they have a gazillion and a half parking spaces for handicap. Directly behind those (with a small passageway for cars to drive through) is another row of parking for those who are too lazy to walk. What happens is the cars in the handicap section always seem to floor it out of the spaces and hit the cars in the lazy section. Every time I go there, the cops are always there for hit and runs, dents, dings and other "people who shouldn't be driving" kind of stuff. When I shop, I literally park in the last spot closest to the exit of the lot. read more

When I go to ShopRite of Hillsdale I get the home town feeling right away. Everyone is so helpful and courteous, from the cart people to the Management and all associates in between. They are organized here and have taken all Covid precautions from the beginning of this horrendous pandemic. I feel comfortable and safe there. But my favorite part is the selection and prices. Their prices are lower than other grocery stores in the area but I find no compromise in quality. read more

SCAM ALERT! Shop Rite of Hillsdale heavily advertises great sale on coffee (for a full week before sale occurs), noting additional savings w/ digital coupon. Sale is Wed. through Saturday. By Friday morning - not even halfway thru sale - ALL sale coffee is gone. NO rainchecks, NO more shipments - then they tell you the large bags, selling at regular price are available. This is classic BAIT and SWITCH and they do this EVERY WEEK with different products. This place should be looked into by the state Attorney General's office. read more

"Horrible" is an understatement to describe Shop Rite of Hillsdale. The parking lot situation alone is a deterrent. The store is a layout that's been in need of an upgrade since 1982. I also find that shopping cart etiquette is a little aggressive there. The meat and produce sections are horrible. NO effing bananas?.....are you kidding me? This is a store that truly forgot the customer. Foodtown in Washington Township is a true shopping experience. What they should do is lift Shop Rite of Hillsdale from it's foundation- air lift it overseas and drop it over North Korea. The damage from that alone will be catastrophic. read more

Not the greatest supermarket, Fresh Grocer in Washington Twp and Wegman's in Montvale are far better. The worst self check out I have ever used. Rarely can you check you self out and not end up needing the employee who over sees the self checkout area to come over and clear your register. read more

Specifically a review for the floral department: I used the floral department at ShopRite for my wedding flowers and had a wonderful experience. Jeanice was very attentive and understood what I was looking for. She made some wonderful suggestions when it came to color for centerpieces and bouquets. The flowers were fresh and came labeled the morning of (so the groomsmen knew which boutonnieres were theirs versus the ones for the fathers, etc.). ShopRite also delivered and set up the centerpieces at the reception venue, so that was one less thing for us to worry about the morning of. I highly recommend she floral department at ShopRite in Hillsdale! read more

Whoever is the Chef or Cook right now making the hot food and the to go food you need a raise! The food is literally amazing and far superior to other grocery store chains or stores. My daughter is such a picky eater ( she is 4 so yes thats usually the case) she absolutely loves the penne, the mac & cheese, the seasoned potatoes, and many others! Kudos to the chef! This Shoprite is horrible. I don't buy anything from here accept cold cuts, frozen items and stuff that comes in some sort of package. Produce is a joke. And all the meat is crap. I recently bought chicken wings from shoprite and they were smallest wings I have ever seen in my life. They were so embarresing I had to put them in the freezer and go buy wings somewhere else for my party. Here is a pic of a Hillsdale shoprite chicken wing. Here is a pic of shoprite brand bacon. It's basically all fat. The only red color u see when you buy the bacon is the only red color you get. All the fat is hidden.Plus it's most likely died anyway. Long story short I was recommended to use the bakery at The Hillsdale location to get cupcakes in the shape of a cross for my step-sons first Holy Communion... I place my order showed the baker exactly what I wanted and when I came to pick up my cupcakes I was disgusted to say the least. It looked like my 8yr old could have done a better job. Not only was the cake completely sloppy it wasn't even in the shape of a cross but a plus sign! I was livid. Ring that the party was the next day I hoped they could do another and at least make it look presentable. Went back to pick it up for the second time & again nothing like the photo! This time it was like a sheet cake! Nothing like the photo! Luckily, the baker that was there tried again and this time it was more like what I wanted. It definitely wasn't up to par with my standards but I guess you get what you pay for. Lesson learned I will be using a cake maker the next time I want something done right and pay a little more for it. read more

There is no other store in the Pascack Valley with comparable prices (other than, of course, Emerson ShopRite). If you head to A&P or Kings after ShopRite, you'll fall over when you see the price difference, and Stop&Shop is still generally well behind. ShopRites as a chain are not generally pretty, and honestly, who cares? The staff -- many of whom have been here for years -- make a good effort to help you, the meat, fish, and produce are generally very fresh and of good quality (the poultry is always a very good deal), and the bakery does excellent custom orders. The regular prices are very good, particularly for this area, but the sale prices just can't be beat. Kudos to you if you can afford to pay extra for bells and whistles, accent lighting, and a fresh coat of paint every few years, but for most people (and the full parking lot confirms this) shopping here has always been a no-brainer. read more

The meat,produce and deli salads are horrible. Deli meats are sliced very thick and spoil much faster than meats from other stores. The cashier's talk to customers and each other creating longer lines. I have seen them showing cell phone pictures to customers while waiting on line. They advertise sale products but never have them in stock , get a rain check and it will expire before you see that item again. I would rather spend a couple of dollars more and go to Stop and Shop, Trader Joe's or Kings. Inserra employees are intgrates and complain constantly about the store and company which is probably why customers are treated so poorly my most . read more

The new renovations are amazing! It's bright and organized and clean! The new shopping carts and hand baskets are nice bonus, no faulty cart wheels haha. I love the basket at the front offering fresh fruit to kids while you shop. It's the same great staff but with an updated look. I go here sometimes twice a week and the new self check out stations are so helpful when you only have a few items. Love the store! read more

Do not get ur cakes made at shoprite....if you see the picture of the cake with the Italy flag and American..u can see how poorly it was done. The lettering is supposed to say "best of luck Joseph"... you can't even read it! Their prices are good compared to everyone else in the area and the staff is usually courteous. That being said, this place really needs a makeover. Unless you go during off peak hours, it can be massively crowded and the lines get long. The store is very old and has not aged well.
