I have been frequenting fresh market since it opened. Don't think of it as a typical grocery store but more of a specialty type of store and the prices match up with that theme. You will find specialty coffees, fresh fruit and vegetables, a large selection of artisan cheeses, as well as a variety of global pantry, staples and healthy pantry options. They also have wonderful prepared salads as well as roasted chickens, sandwiches, pizza, and sushi made the day of. The main reason I come here is for their meat. They have incredible sales, so I'm often in here on Tuesdays for their ground chuck and chicken special. The chicken is always super tender, and I've never found woody breast. Their sausages made on premise are also fantastic. When we are feeling like grilling, this is where I pick up my steak. And in case you have a sweet tooth, their bakery is also A+ . read more

There are so many food markets in this area that it's hard for Fresh Market to differentiate. The prices are generally higher for most things than Wegmans and Whole Foods has a better selection of healthy items, as well as more consistent sales. However, sometimes you can get good deals at FM. And I always enjoy looking at their specialty items, frozen foods, bakery and chocolates. If you have a full grocery list you probably won't fulfill it here. I'd also say that the service is generally "ok." Parking lot is typically very open. read more

Over the past decade I've seen big brand supermarkets come and go in my neighborhood, but Fresh Market has weathered all the waves and changes, and I have come to believe that it will be here forever, even if Wegmans and Whole Foods may shut their doors :-). FM is what you may call a "niche" or "boutique" ( albeit not small in size ) grocery shop, for everything they offer can be described with one word - "Artisan". From coffees, cheeses, chocolates and breads, to cooking oils, tinned fish, jarred soups, and even snacks, one can find so many gourmet items that one won't find in an average store. Shopping here can make one feel like a snob (in a nice way), or an Europhile, for a lot of things are imported directly from Europe, with tasteful packaging. I love their holiday gift sets - one can never fail to please the recipients with such unique and delectable treats. There are also two walls of all kinds of nuts. When you join their loyalty program, you get a free piece of cake from their marvelous bakery on your birthday every year. Asked a family member to pick up chicken salad on their way over, thinking they'd get it from Shop-rite or Trader Joe's. They bought it at the store I refuse to shop at and, once again, they failed!!! The store, that is. I took a chance and opened the container. Carefully tasted it and it was terrible. The chicken was stringy, not chopped, mostly strings. Also, and this was a first, the cartilage was dominant. But that's not all. The entire container was turning. A bit sour and lacking any chicken flavor but who cares. I would never take another taste. But it was bad. I paid my niece but chucked the whole thing. Goodbye 11.99 a pound for gross "unfresh" chix salad. FYI, I tasted it the same day it was purchased. Avoid this overpriced market and go anywhere else. We have Wegman's, Whole Foods and LIDL nearby. The inside had a country market feel. The produce fresh! Unfortunately my shopper picked out some of the hardest avocados, but redeemed on the apples which was bruise-free and large. Let me preface by saying - this is one of my favorite markets! It's got a wide variety of artisan foods and fresh organic things you will have difficulty finding anywhere else. It's an easy shopping experience and the staff is very good, helpful and friendly. The Fresh Market carries my favorite Squid Ink Pasta and my favorite spaghetti sauce - Michaels of Brooklyn Arrabbiata Sauce! I have always gone here on and off since it opened for random things. Let's face it, it's pricier than most grocery stores. So it's not always my go to. They do however have some of the loveliest flowers at a pretty nice price so when I need flowers I do head there. Over the weekend they had some great Valentine's Meal deals - brunch or dinner to order in advance and pick up Vday weekend. I went in Saturday to pick up my brunch and the nice gentleman informed me that he'd checked the bag and everything was in there. So I didn't bother to check myself. I got home and realized the lox was missing. I called the store and was put on hold for about 12 minutes which added to my already high level of frustration. A manager named Ed got on the phone and was so pleasant, apologetic and just plain warm. He seemed so open to helping however he could. I honestly expected a credit or for him to tell me to come back and get it. But Ed said himself or someone would drive it over and how quickly did I need it. I didn't need it till the next day and told him there was no rush. I was really floored by his immediate offer to go above and beyond. He dropped it off at my home and included a flower. He took my negative situation and turned it into such a phenomenal customer experience. I will keep coming back to this store because of Ed. I love The Fresh Market. It's my favorite place to shop. They have great meals for $25 that feeds four people. They're called the little big meals. There's a different one every week and there are specials throughout the week in general. The meat is absolutely wonderful. You won't find any food store better than this. When I walked through the doors I was impressed with the delicious smell in the coffee area and cozy ambiance. I normally want to run in and out of a grocery store as quickly as possible but I actually enjoyed exploring the wonderful displays, especially in the chocolate aisle! I ordered a pre cooked dinner for Thanksgiving this year and loved it. The price was reasonable and I no longer will make my own turkey since theirs was juicy and done to perfection! Most of my experiences at Fresh Market have been very positive. I love the selection of prepared foods and sweets. They are very pricey, so keep in mind this more similar to a Whole Foods than a Shoprite. The vibe at Fresh Market is much better however. What I do appreciate is the meal deal that they have. It's 20 dollars for a meal for 4 people. It usually has a protein, veggie, sauce, and dessert or bread. From the prepared foods section (not included in the meal deal), my favorite is the baked potato salad. It's so unique and so much better than regular potato salad. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. I'm deducting a couple stars however because an employee during one of my previous shopping trips, was coughing into her hand at the prepared foods counter! She also told us that she doesn't eat the prepared salads because they made her sick, which is a little alarming. If you cough into the glove and then touch the food, then what is the point of the glove! I understand that you are putting yourself at risk to germs anytime you eat food prepared by someone else, but stores and restaurants should still strive to be clean. One employee isn't representative of an entire store. Most of the people who work behind the prepared foods counter are very nice and appear to be practicing good hygiene standards. However, I will be avoiding the potato salad for some time until I feed comfortable again or reassured that no one is coughing into the salads. read more

I've visited The Fresh Market a few times in the past two years. I won't go out of my way to stop, but if I'm in the area, I'll swing by. I can usually find a good amount of gluten-free items, plus they generally have some unique buys that you can't typically find elsewhere. The store is never packed, which is great. The layout is easy to navigate and the store is very neat and tidy. My biggest issue is with the cashiers. My first visit there, the cashier was chatting up the woman in front of me, but when it was my turn, I was completely ignored, even though I spoke directly to them. It was extremely awkward and I left a little more than miffed. On my most recent visit, there was an issue with the computer and the cashier was acting a little funny over it. Finally, they called their manager over just as my receipt popped out. They ripped the receipt out and thrust it at me as if it was a major inconvenience, so of course, I made a comment about it. I love The Fresh Market! Their produce section is always plentiful. Working next door, gives me an opportunity to come in and try their soups of the day, hot items, and fresh baked goods. They have prepackaged prepared boxes with tuna salad or buffalo chicken- think of an adult elevated Lunchable! You can't go wrong with their salads, sandwiches or wraps either. I'm telling you this supermarket takes their role of serving freshness very seriously. As far as pricing goes, in my opinion it is affordable. The food is great but the customer service needs improving. Hint: a Who,e Foods is opening down the street soon. Time to up it or lose more clientele at this already SLOW location, which has a lot more potential to do higher volume. Cashier Jaime is downright nasty and gave me attitude when I asked for plastic bags. My mother and law also wife also experience a very snotty attitude on their first trip by her also and vowed never to return again. They are regulars at Wegmans down the road. I personally, own and operate a local competitor to Instacart. I needed plastic bags for easy delivery, which were available at another register. She refused and I had to demand she cancel my order, and I go to another checkout line. Mind you I gave Wegmans over $120,000 in volume last year, and yours is a pittance compared to that. Out if my 300+ regulars that all live within 10 miles of the store, only a HaNdFUL have ever even heard of the store! While I watch Pluto and other Roku channels at home 5 miles from the store, I am constantly being bombarded with Wegman's commercials! Maybe with Who,e Foods opening down the road soon, Wegman's thriving, and a local customer base that really doesn't know you exist, and bad customer service, you may want to up it a bit in Montvale to SURVIVE?! It is a WEALTHY community but I see much WASTED opportunity to capitalize on that. You could be a lot busier. read more

When this place opened its was a high end specialty market that seemed to scratch the itch for those hard to find items all in one spot. The coffee selection is still unbeatable and even though we go to Wegmans for just about everything else, we still stop in for the specialty while coffee beans. It's very pricey with limited variety in breads, and paper products. Several times we had rancid nuts from the bulk bins, to the point I just don't bother anymore. It's a great place if you're in a pinch, but honestly you can get all they have at a lower price point at Wegmans right down the street. read more

Came here for lunch one day while I was in the area running errands. It reminded me of a mini, mom & pop cross between Wegmans and Whole Foods. This Market IS a pleasure to shop in...it's like smaller, more attractive version of Fairway but with a bulk section and friendly staff. I appreciated the eye-popping variety of specialty items and unbeatable prices on a few specials. My heart sank when I started to read the ingredients on the house-labeled refrigerated prepared foods and the baked goods, which contain artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, and all the low-grade sweeteners and fats that you'd expect in cheap packaged goods. At least the label of the item I brought home said "Manufactured for the Fresh Market" instead of "Baked for." Second beef: this store has serious sweet tooth problem. The one bulk item I bought was date pieces, which should be coated in date flour to keep them from sticking, but for some reason the Fresh Market's version is coated in DEXTROSE and the result is way too sweet and has barely any date flavor, just tastes like sugar--useless in recipes, not even nice as a snack. As far as prime space devoted to candy, they're only upstaged by Cracker Barrel, but even they don't have the type of display devoted to Jelly Belly. In the end, a disappointment because the "food" didn't seem to match up to the name and image. read more

Let's be real, I'm doing a bulk of my grocery shopping across the street at A&P as 3 items at Fresh Market costs me $20. But when you need a specialty item or just food of a higher quality, FM is your store. I usually only go to three places in Fresh Market: the meat department, the bakery, and the nut aisle. Although I've been known to stray and test out ready-to-eat items from their deli (their twice-baked potatoes are insane - in taste and size). Meat department: high quality cuts of anything and a lot of great pre-marinated/prepared options as well. A must? The bacon cheddar cheeseburger. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. So much bacon, so juicy, so delicious. Get on my grill immediately. Their turkey burgers are great as well and packed with plenty of flavor. You pay around $3-4 per patty, but these are HUGE patties and well worth the cost. Bakery: I have a weakness for FM's black & white cookies. Their fresh breads and rolls are great too and they must make their sesame seed buns to specific to the size of their hamburger patties because they are a perfect fit. Nut aisle: Offers everything under the sun. Different flavors of peanuts, delicious trail mix combos, chocolate covered everything. This is snack heaven. I don't recommend stopping in here hungry because you will be shelling out a lot of dough to accommodate those cravings of yours. Another plus? I saw a woman who wanted 10 veal chops, pounded. Must have been $16 per pound! The kid at the meat counter had to ask the guy behind fish counter about it. The fish guy said they couldn't. I was shocked. I told the manager who was stacking water cases in the outer lobby. He thanked me and continued to stack the water. This is a pretend upscale place. The Fresh Market has really grown on me, so much so that I prefer it over Wegmans. TFM seems to work hard on finding unique brands & seasonal items. I really enjoy the weekly meal deals and buy this get that for free specials. The store brand itself is high quality and just as good as name brands for staple items. Bakery offerings are always fresh & meats top notch. They even pay attention to diet trends by offering Keto snacks & drinks. The store footprint is small but they have enough offerings to make this a weekly visit for me. Highly recommend their meat section for excellent steak selections. read more

Located in the same strip mall as "THE GYM," The Fresh Market is a smaller grocery store with a very Whole Foods-ish feel. Wide selection of lunch food options (sushi, deli, salad bar, meals) at a decent to small premium to standard prepared. Good selection of fruits and veggies again at reasonable prices. I was here quickly to snag food for lunch, but a cursory walkaround showed a good selection of meats and organic foods, all at prices better than Whole Foods. I'll definitely come back in the future to check it out. Tables outside too for summertime eating. Biggest negative is the somewhat loud classical music playing at all times - can be annoying. read more

I like this place. It is a granola muncher kind of place, so the food is good, sometimes niche, and high quality. The produce is fresh, and you can get some cool stuff. I got a bag of balsamic and rosemary chips that were delicious. They have some cool assortments of nuts and stuff like that and they make sandwiches too. I have made the mistake of doing some food shopping at the A&P down the road, but I am no longer making that mistake. The employees are helpful and always try to minimize wait times to check out. I've been shopping the Fresh Market for years and always enjoyed it. When Wegman's opened a mile down the road a year ago I was enthralled and my visits here waned a bit. However, I have recently been stopping back in more and more just because it's always an easy pleasant experience. The one thing I love about Fresh Market is it's always impeccably clean, the produce stocked is always fresh and appealing, and the meats I've purchased have always been super fresh. Also, all their bakery items I've had have been great. The presentation throughout the store is always spot on. It's also a perfect sized store to get in and out of under 20-30 minutes. So while I'm still a huge Wegman's fan, every store has its different appeals for different reasons, and I do think the Fresh Market lives up to its name and I'm glad they are in my area. You may pay a little more for some items but they also have incredible sales with 2.99 Tuesday, and great meals to make for a family of 4 for about $20. Finally, some of the staff and cashiers have been there years and are pleasant and super fast at checking you out which is a huge plus. read more

I went to The Fresh Market expecting some awesome FRESH food. Hmm. On a positive, the produce was displayed very nicely, but the freshness factor pretty much ended there. Ever on the search for great bakery items I was initially excited to see the tables piled high with breads and baked goods. One quick look at the ingredient label told me that nothing there is actually made from scratch. I'm pretty sure a baker wouldn't put malodextrin and high fructose corn syrup into their banana bread! Peering over the bakery counter I saw an employee scooping muffin batter from a bucket. The center food/deli/sushi thing was kind of a clusterf*ck and the prices were a bit high. I work right across the street and The Fresh Market is a fun store to spent at on lunch break, looking at all the different food items they offer, which many of them you can't find at a regular supermarket. The butcher on one trip i took there, was very friendly and offered his expertise on many of the different cuts of meat they offer. If you're in a rush, and the gigantic deli area is a little busy or workers are busy doing their everyday restocking tasks behind the counter, don't expect to get service too quickly. I have too many times waited by the "order sandwiches here" sign for up to 10 minutes and watched multiple workers look at me, then look away, not even acknowledging my presence. The store made rotisserie chicken salad often has bones in it, and other bone like debris. Generally, the service and staff is friendly, and a often times, uber-friendly. It can be a little strange sometimes. Thankfully, there is a huge A&P across the street. I have too many times found myself just going there, after searching around The Fresh Market to make something as simple as a tomato sauce to no avail. Want to make red and green cole slaw? You'll have to settle for radicchio and shallots instead of red cabbage and scallions. I told someone the other day "I stopped by The Fresh Market to shop for a little, but I'm heading over to A&P to buy food." Overall, I do like the place - based on its variety of food items, but find it frustrating to create a "whole dinner" from the items they have. Made my first visit to The Fresh Market and was not impressed. It was early evening and the place was empty. Walked out with a few small bags and a wallet that was $ 60 lighter. NY Strip Steaks: Good quality but be careful because the price posted toward the front of the case ($ 10.99) was PER STEAK not per pound. There is a second price that shows $ 14.99 which I assume is the equivalent per-pound price. Peaches: Let them ripen at home. Tasteless. Empanadas: Meh A couple of other convenience items were good but priced sky high. The one standout item was a box of flat crispy cookies that were really good and worth the $ 5 for a small box. The meat and seafood dept is great, I like that they don't use pink slime in thier ground beef. Google that one if you want to..... They have some hard to find items like Hatch chili products and mexican coke. The Music is kina annoying, as is the inability to push your own carts to your car (they have kids do it, because the parking lot is a cart luge to grand ave.)
