These folks care about my trees and shrubs as much as I do. I've had them out 2 years in a row now and both crews were polite, professional, and thorough. They actually prune the tress and shrubs as discussed ... it's extremely helpful to NOT have to keep checking to see if what was agreed to is actually what's being done! It's also nice to be able to discuss future planning with knowledgeable folks so I can keep all my yard denizens as healthy and happy as possible. Yeah, they cost a few extra dollars, but if you actually care about whether your trees are healthy it's totally worth it!

We had the tree trimmed several years back but I had lost his information. He looked the job over and gave me a verbal estimate. He said he would email a written estimate. I had it before I went to bed that night. His price was in line with the other estimates I got, he is licensed and insured (I checked several and found only two on the CSLB website). We agreed on a time and day, he showed up EARLY with his crew and finished the job in a couple of hours. All the branches and leaves were picked up and removed. This service did everything right. I am glad I used them and will use them again when the tree grows back (if I don't lose his info again).

We decided to move forward, and we left it up to him to provide and plant what was needed to create a perfect space that was both functional for entertainment and really pleasant to just relax and enjoy. Gio and his team did not disappoint. He met (and exceeded) our expectations, and stuck to the schedule and budget. And he didn't just create planter areas and new lawn, he also installed a paver walkway to match our existing patio stones. When he was finished with the original scope, he offered to maintain the rear yard to make sure our investment (and his hard work) would continue to look as good as the day he finished. Marvin and Acotillo Tree Service....GREAT!!!!! I've used Marvin for four jobs at our house In Venice , from full on Tree Removal, to topping and thinning, and even one sidewalk repair. I will use Marvin anytime I need tree work and will recommend him to anyone who asks. He is Honest, Skilled , Courteous, and Timely and Efficient. And Safe! He will tell you what his best judgment is on a job, but also listen to the customers concerns. His crews clean up after the job is done and he has come back and checked on trees that need radical haircuts. I am so thrilled to have found a quality tree service after wasting an entire day being stood up by a competitor. Acotillo immediately responded to my frantic phone call, gave me a great bid, and then showed up...on time, imagine that!...and removed the dead tree and stump in short order. Great job!! I've used a few different services over the years and I'll go back to Acotillo in a heartbeat. Marvin was on time, very informed and had some great input. Carlos went above and beyond to research and find the safest and most effective treatment for our trees, which he found from a vendor in northern California. He worked with the vendor to make sure CP & Sons application was correctly done. Carlos also was careful to only slightly trim only the affected parts knowing that the summer is the worst time to do a major trimming. His communication with myself, the homeowner coordinating the project, was excellent and his follow-up on the project was as well. This was a two day project plus he returned about a week later to lay mulch. He took pictures of the trees to show me the new growth. We will definitely use Carlos and CP & Sons for our annual maintenance and any issues we have with our trees. Also, Carlos and all the workers adhered to COVID-19 guidelines and rules re: masks and other safety precautions. No issues in that department.

Midway through, he asked me to come out and let him know if I was satisfied. They put up boards to protect flowers and a window. The trees were crowned/shaped very nicely! After the work was done, they used a grinder for the branches, and removed them in 2 commercial vehicles. It was a lot of resources for a pretty small job. So happy to have located them!

Later, we had several trees removed to install a new fence. Jesse and his crew handled those tree removal jobs without any hassle. The landscaping included a stunning tree canopy -- planted in 2005 -- that gave us a lot of privacy despite our location in a highly urban area. The garden was a magical oasis and one of the features that sold us on the house. My husband thought the trees needed trimming, and called in Jesse (I was out of town) given our positive experiences. In one day, Jesse managed to destroy the canopy and butcher a number of trees. In the attached photo, the "toothpicks" you see behind the garage used to shield us from the tall building 1/4 mile away. No more. My husband had thought Jesse would trim the trees to match the adjacent hedge. Instead, he took off almost all the foliage. I'm not sure the trees will survive, and if they do grow again, what will they look like? I've had many trees trimmed over the years, including by the city arborists, and pruned trees typically look healthier. I've never before encountered a tree trimmer who simply lopped off the top half of trees and called it a day. If you need a tree or trees removed, sure, Jesse will do the job. But tree trimming/pruning? You can find someone who's actually competent.
