Had Carlos and crew out to put in a bio-root barrier to prevent neighbors bamboo growing under our fence and to remove existing invasive bamboo. The work was done in late 2022. In July of this year I noticed a shoot growing back under the barrier. I reached out to Carlos, who got back to me and came by to check it out. Carlos and his team trimmed a huge jacaranda tree for me on 2/24/24. The tree had been very badly pruned the last time, so there was a lot of correction to do. At present, it had 'finally' recovered from the last pruning, but it was quite mis-shapened and was hugely overgrown over the roof of the house. In my opinion, Carlos is an artist. We could not be more pleased at how well-balanced and healthy the tree now looks. He managed to prune it quite thoroughly without making it look like a skeleton, as had been done previously. CP & Sons came recommended by another tree service I'd called that was booked up. Carlos was responsive, communicative by text, on time and explained things simply. He didn't try to upsell and took time to answer my questions. His crew removed a pine tree that had been planted too close to our roof, and shaped a willow tree and pomegranate tree. They arrived promptly at 7 am (notify your neighbors -- the electric saw is LOUD) and ground the pine stump out of existence. I found their prices reasonable. Our small HOA had a problem with tree mites in our cedars earlier this summer. Sap was falling on homeowner's front porches, steps and railings causing a significant mess. Carlos went above and beyond to research and find the safest and most effective treatment for our trees, which he found from a vendor in northern California. He worked with the vendor to make sure CP & Sons application was correctly done. Carlos also was careful to only slightly trim only the affected parts knowing that the summer is the worst time to do a major trimming. His communication with myself, the homeowner coordinating the project, was excellent and his follow-up on the project was as well. This was a two day project plus he returned about a week later to lay mulch. He took pictures of the trees to show me the new growth. We will definitely use Carlos and CP & Sons for our annual maintenance and any issues we have with our trees. I was impressed to see CP & Sons care about their work as well as the safety of their staff by investing in a small lift to facilitate the trimming of my bamboos that grew 15 feet taller than the nursery had advised. It was actually fascinating watching Tony maneuver the lift that looked like a robot anchored on its "legs." The crew worked and cleaned up efficiently. They also trimmed a large overgrown pepper tree, and cut down a messy tall twiggy Eugenia seeded by the birds. After lunch, they were pleasant to re-trim the pepper tree more to allow more light and openness on top where privacy with the neighbors was not a problem. I like that CP & Sons is a family operated business located in my neighborhood and will definitely call them for regular maintenance. My only note as a homeowner who prunes all the small trees myself fairly well (as opposed to light trimming), is to discuss at the estimate meeting if and how you prefer to prune back, such as the smaller branches to cut off from the main branches or the trunk. Since it was their first visit, I relied on their great reviews to do as they usually work. However, I have noticed that even the better tree companies prefer to trim more conservatively than I like. CP did a great job. Our 8 towering 80' trees hadn't been trimmed in many years. I selected them because the boss, Carlos Jr is the son of our gardener. He is a licensed arborist. He came out to inspect the trees with me. He provided an email bid that was very reasonable. He and his crew arrived on time both days. There were four guys. Three worked in the trees while one guy was below hauling cuttings to the grinder. I was amazed at the tools and safety equipment they used. These guys are not your gardener doing a bit of trimming from the ground. They are true professionals and skilled experts. They suited up with cutting tools, ropes, and climbing gear including hard hats. Very professional. They thinned and shaped all the trees. They know their profession and did an excellent job. They hauled all cuttings including many branches up to 15" in diameter to the grinding machine. I was amazed it easily ground them up. The trees were so large that many had spread over to the neighbor's yard. They cleaned up the cuttings from those yards too. After they were done, they cleaned all the residual mess and left our yard clean and tidy including putting yard furniture back into place.
