I ate here twice. The first time was around 11am and it was the best shrimp and calamari cone I've ever had! The shrimp was huge. The calamari was perfectly seasoned. I was raving about it to my friends. We came again the next day around 3pm and we all had sandy calamari! It was unenjoyable and we actually spit it out into our napkins. super charming little stand on the side of the street serving authentic venice an fried food! waited about 15 minutes on a Saturday around noon. got the calamari and shrimp, it was delicious and only 5€. the polenta was also grilled quite nicely. think the menu changes daily due to what they have available because there was a chalkboard that said the current date and a couple options. they have small sample dishes at the front so you can see what you're ordering (think these are always here and diff from the daily specials). cons - wish there was more (would treat more as a snack than a meal) and unfortunately it took me a while to get mine because they forgot about my order, but when he noticed I was still standing there, immediately asked and gave me what I ordered. read more

Now I've had squid ink before but let me tell you what wooeee was the cuttlefish in polenta the real bo diddler deal. We stumbled upon this place on accident after walking across the Rialto Bridge, and I'm so happy we did. There was a really long line, so we knew it had to be good. The seafood tasted really fresh and it was perfectly fried. We ordered the mix of fried seafood which had shrimp, calamari, octopus, sardines, and polenta-- kind of a let down because we thought the entire cup would be seafood, but half was polenta. The polenta was SUUUPER hot, but yummy. This is definitely a heavy and filing snack, so I would recommend sharing among 2-3 people. Another plus is that it's so cheap. read more

If you don't know where to eat the food after you buy it, and if standing while eating does not appeal to you, keep walking towards the opposite direction of C. Dei meloni and you'll come across Campo S. Polo, which not only has benches in the shade but also a nice water fountain or you can wash your hands. Then, try the ice cream booth in S Polo, best ice cream in Venice. **a word of advice to traveling Americans: Italian is not at all Spanish. Awesome stop for a treat. Yay!.. I went here on a rainy day when the hubs wasn't feeling too well so he stayed home and it was a great treat to have while I was out playing photographer. I had the mixed seafood cup and it was made fresh to order and was hot, perfectly seasoned and delicious... I enjoyed this very much... Originally it wasn't on my list as I wasn't planning on walking thru this area but was so glad I remembered it. So worth stopping for a nice treat. Trekked across Venice to come here for some Venetian street food. Ordered the mix of fried seafood (shrimp, calamari, octupus, sardines) with polenta. For 6 euros, there was less seafood than expected. Half of the bottom cup is filled with polenta. The fish was salty which goes quite nicely with the polenta but the calamari and shrimp lacked flavour and seasoning. Would not recommend going out of your way for this but do try if you're in the area. Also wished there was some seating to enjoy. You'd have to walk and eat or find a stoop nearby. read more

Skip the fried seafood - the seafood salad is where it's at! However if you're going to get the fried seafood it's not a bad deal at all- 3 euros gets you a hot Greasy cup of Calamari, shrimp, and polenta sticks. Quite frankly I've had better calamari state side but definitely not for 3-4 bucks so it's great for what it is- it's mostly tiny tentacle clusters the size of raspberries so its not as succulent and sweet as premium calamari made with only big juicy hoods (this is starting to sound like a porn!) the 6 dollar polenta option is not worth it- same deal, but with polenta and two fried fish on top (no polenta sticks) so you essentially paid 3 dollars for polenta (which is just Italian grits without the flavor explosion of good southern grits). I don't like polenta so I just pitched it after eating the seafood. I went back the next day and tried the seafood salad for 8 euros and it's amazeaballs- lemony with capers celery and olive oil and a healthy amount of salt over tender sliced octopus chunks and big sweet juicy shrimp. I could eat that seafood salad all day! Note that the meal I had before that was gatto nero on burano so it's a huge compliment to be able to follow up that seafood with 8 euro street seafood! read more

If you love seafood and polenta, you will love this carry out place. We stopped for meals and/or snacks 3 out of our 4 days in Venice. Try the fish stews - various styles and the grilled squid - a delicious whole squid served with a perfect accompanying large french fry. The polenta that comes with the fish stew is perfect. Friendly service and provided plastic cutlery and takeout containers on request. Hendrix' 'Little Wing' was playing softly in the background (maybe Stevie Ray's cover). Best food experience we had in Venice and we ate a lot of great food that usually cost a lot more. Don't miss it! read more

4.5 euros to get a cone of fried seafood. And this is some solid fried seafood, as the fried calamari, shrimp, and polenta cake are perfectly crispy without feeling heavy and making you feel gross. Also just a fun snack because, let's face it, everything tastes better when in cone form. We saw this walking around and new we had to grab it, and I'd say it's a worthwhile snack to nab while roaming the streets of Venice. There are other options too, mostly seafood based, but the big seller here seemed to be the seafood cones.
