Osteria with pizza, pasta and fishes. Very warm welcome, grissini, vino della casa, all is good and the atmosphere very local with a garden to eat in the open air. Pizza dough homemade and 48h resting before cooking. Tasty and recommended.

Why 5 stars? Because this was our most memorable meal in Venice. --- --- --- We had another meal in Venice that was pretty damn delicious, but there was something so delightful about Al Nono Risorto. First off, our journey to find the restaurant was an interesting one. It was definitely off the beaten path, and since it was dark outside, it was interesting to walk down the alleys at night. In any other circumstance, you'd assume you might be in a potentially bad situation to be walking down a dark alley at night, but in Venice, almost everywhere is an alley! And almost everyone there is a tourist like yourself. Once we arrived, we sat out in the garden, which was as charming as possible. We were on a kick to order pizza and pasta every-other meal, and since we had pasta for lunch, guess what it was time for? We went with the carbonara pizza and the prosciutto pizza. Both were as good as it gets - definitely up there with the best pizza that we had in all of Italy. But the most memorable aspect of our experience was the tiramisu. This was the best that I've ever had, without a doubt. After every bite, I almost wanted to cry: #1 Because it was so perfect and #2 Because every bite I took meant I was one moment closer to no longer being able to eat it. Look at the photos of it and you'll see how amazingly photogenic it is. It tastes just as phenomenal. I just shed another tear as I miss Al Nono Risorto so much.

Not a bad stop for dinner. It definitely gets pretty busy and is definitely a tourist type restaurant. They had good wine and beer here. I had the beef fillet pieces with a green peppercorn sauce and peas. It was pretty tasty. The two pastas (carbonara and pesto were kind of "meh) and the monkfish was huge, delicious and perfectly cooked. Overall, it was an ok dinner.

Our food was delicious. It took a little waiting to order or to pay, but if you get in vacation mode, relax and enjoy your time there you will be pleased. We had the calzone and tiramisu, both were to die for.

Lasagne, gnocchi, pizza and tiramisu! How could you say no this place? We had the bolognese lasagne and cheese gnocchi as our firsts. The lasagne was so creamy and soft, it practically melted in your mouth. The same could be said for the gnocchi - that sauce was to die for. We opted for the maulwurf pizza as our main - it was topped with bleu cheese and spicy salami. Delicious. They have an amazing garden seating area out back but it was not open due to the colder weather. Call and make a reservation if you're going to dine - at 10PM this place was completely full on a Thursday night.

This was probably one of the best simple meals in Italy and certainly in Venice. Hard to find and hard to forget, this cozy little spot had some of the best pasta and the best pizza of our trip. Before coming we stopped at the fish market by the grand canal and picked up a kilo of fresh canocchia that had already been pealed. The fish guy must have thought we were crazy Americans but we then sat by the river and sucked down about half the bag in no time. We then took the rest here and asked if they would cook them up for us which they did! They did say that next time it's better to bring them while they're in their shell; http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/4OZCruSa3yUrJu5bpogcHQ?select=9QaA2lxhCXSW2x_YFNCtgw#H9-iuoeZUeBd2ExAp5vm6w And here in Venice, where having a wood fire oven is illegal, we found the best pizza we had in Italy. Perfect crust, toppings, sauce, cheese, runny egg yolk, it had it all; http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/4OZCruSa3yUrJu5bpogcHQ?select=9QaA2lxhCXSW2x_YFNCtgw#dO1Ga6iOg9owTdmNJEjw-w The pesto here was spot on. It was everything pesto should be atop perfect pasta; http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/4OZCruSa3yUrJu5bpogcHQ?select=9QaA2lxhCXSW2x_YFNCtgw#9QaA2lxhCXSW2x_YFNCtgw And to top it off, the tiramisu was above par; http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/4OZCruSa3yUrJu5bpogcHQ?select=9QaA2lxhCXSW2x_YFNCtgw#1XQoByy8pw7AbZsOmBu5MQ The wife had some weird thing that was lemon sorbet with prosecco and vodka, it was so nice and refreshing! Definitely something we'll try at home.

Service was a bit slow the day we were there, but I wasn't in any particular rush so it wasn't a big deal. Very nice garden area to have lunch or dinner. Not particularly touristy, thankfully. Just simple, straightforward, and good. I had the spaghetti with mussels and clams and was very happy with the overall flavors. The pasta was not home made, but it was still pretty good. My girlfriend had the penne, which was also quite good as well. Those dishes plus bread, beer, a bottle of water, and an espresso came out to €34 so not bad value for money either. Do wish I had more time in Venice to try out some of the other things they had on offer. Closed Wednesdays.

We had high hopes for this charmer just across the canal from Campo San Cassiano. We wanted to dine with the locals (assuming there were some) on our final night in Venezia, 2/13/2016, before continuing on to Firenza. Everything about the dining experience was okay. However, the next morning, my wife and I were both battling food poisoning- mine moderate, hers severe enough that we had to cancel our travel plans, extend our stay an extra night, and call in a doctor. The suspected culprit: the shellfish in the special of the day--either the clams or the mussels, or both. My wife is a big fan of shellfish, so I let her have the majority of them, and took just a few for myself; hence the difference in the severity of our illnesses. Still, mistakes can happen in any kitchen in the world, and the other dishes--the big salad, a Margherita pizza and squid with polenta--which we shared more or less equally, were delicious. The service was expectedly casual, the atmosphere was rollicking, and everybody had a splendid time. Until the next morning. So, a 5-star effort spoiled by a 0-star finish . . . I'll average that and round up to a 3.

    The fried seafood platter

After walking around all day we were pretty famished! Squid ink pasta 5/5 - the squid was so amazingly tender and fresh and the sauce was perfectly seasoned. Pizza with salmon and arugula 2/5 - this dish was overly salty and barely palatable. I thought it was going to be more lightly seasoned salmon but this was more like lox....and quite salty! Skip this one Fried seafood platter - 4/5 - this is a surprisingly decent sized dish with a nice mix of seafood on top of polenta. There was one thing in there that was particularly gritty and of the sea but all the other items were super fresh. If you're sitting in the outdoor area watch out for the tiny Mosquitos! We got attacked during our meal but didn't quite notice the extent until later...its location next to the small waterway must be harboring some mosquito eggs!

Rustique, authentic, quick, good. A good atmosphere and decent food for cheap money. Staff is attentive and will make sure that you dip your biscotti in the vin santo, should you not be aware of traditions. We will return, perhaps next time for lunch. Pizzas are great here.

Everything was delicious. Our waitress was good but you could tell some staff were running around lost. Would still definitely come back.

For dinner in peak season, try to make a reservation as the restaurant is very small. We arrived before our reservation time and were seated immediately inside and greeted warmly by the restaurant owner. We ordered a bottle of wine to start (most under 20 Euros for a 75 ML bottle). For appetizers we ordered the cheese with honey for 13 Euros, absolutely amazing! We also combined this with the local olive oil and fresh bread brought to the table to start as well. For our second course we chose two pastas, the Penne Alla Amatriciana (I think it was around 12 Euros), and the Spaghetti Alla Carbonara (I think it was around 12 Euros as well). Both had extremely fresh homemade ingredients and were out of this world and extreme attention to care in the preparation. For our entree we split the breaded pork chop (I think it was around 20 Euros), including a side of potatoes (similar to the steak fries that you would see in the U.S.) The service was absolutely amazing and we loved dining alongside the owner and his family and meeting the cat that also lives at the restaurant and comes by to greet you during the meal as well. It truly was like you were dining at the home of the owner and is a must try if you are in Venice!
