Dining at Osteria Boccadoro was a pleasure. My wife and I had dinner reservations on a recent trip. Unsure of what to order our server offered to just bring us to best dishes the restaurant had to offer. We hungrily agreed. The meal started with Antipasto Misto di Pesce Crudo, a selection of raw seafood. Fresh Sea Bream Carpaccio was paired with juicy diced strawberries and pomegranate, super fresh tuna melted in your mouth and fresh juicy shrimp made for the perfect appetizer. Next came more seafood: Antipasto Misto di Pesce Bollito. This mix of seafood included tender cuttlefish, octopus, shrimp and juicy briny sardines. For our entrees we had two pasta dishes: Tagliolini Neri con Capesante e Carciofi and Gnocchetti alla Granseola. The Tagliolini was savory, al dente, lightly creamy and mixed with cuttlefish ink and tender artichoke. The Gnocchetti was heavenly light with a light flavorful sauce with tender crab and juicy tomato. Finally, we had the Panna Cotta for dessert. This dish was creamy and lightly sweet with a texture similar to flan. The hint of rosemary and black salt were a nice touch.

Small, intimate, and quiet. Away from the crazy loud tourists. Food quality was excellent. Very polite service as well.

    A nice bottle of white.

We found this restaurant through a magazine article that touted non touristy restaurants in Venice. It is nicely off the beaten path in Cannaregio. I would guess that 60% of the clientele was local and they were having a good time. Osteria Boccadoro is nicely decorated but not stuffy and the service was just right, helpful but now overbearing. Most importantly the food was excellent and featured many of the fresh ingredients that we saw earlier in the market including the seasonal baby artichokes. We had the tuna tartare, squid ink tagliatelle, spider crab gnocchi and the fried mixed seafood. All was excellent but I particularly enjoyed the fried fresh sardines and the tuna. With a nice bottle of wine the bill was only 110 Euro.

Best food I have had in my 3 trips to Venice. Order every Pasta on the menu. Then order one of the "boiled" fish dishes. Wow!!!! Their selection white wine is great.

They kindly halved a serving of black noodles with scollops for us.

Finding this restaurant for our first dinner in Venice was a stricken of luck. The location was charming, located in the quiet neighborhood piazza where we luxuriated with excellent food and service for two hours. We had one of our favorite waiters ever for our meal, Simone. He was attentive, exceedingly pleasant and informative.

Mixed raw seafood appetizer for 1: king prawn, tuna tartar, & sea bream with honey & strawberry. The freshest & most flavorful I've had here

Read about this place in the DK guide to Venice and the Veneto, which described it as having a fantastic wine list, and specializing in seafood dishes, seasonal vegetable dishes, and chocolate desserts Discovered it on the walk between the apartment where I'm staying, and the docks at Fondamenta Nuove. Decided to treat myself to lunch, sat outside to write and people watch. Was a quiet weekday afternoon, service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. My lovely server spoke at least three languages that I noticed, addressing me in English, other customers in Italian and still other customers in French. Had what I would consider a romantic lunch for one, starting with the mixed raw seafood appetizer -- raw prawn, tuna tartar, and raw sea bream with honey and strawberry -- a side of seasonal vegetable "flan," -- more souffle like -- I noticed courgettes, broccoli, and perhaps some artichoke or white asparagus and ended with a "five chocolate" mousse for dessert. That, along with sparkling water set me back about 50 euro. -- Really not bad considering the quality and presentation of the food, and the quality of the service. Honestly the only reason I didn't give it five stars was because, for the money, I would've liked a slightly larger portion, but that's very American of me. All in all I would go back -- and plan to (They had a veal cheek entree that is calling to me), and would also recommend it to friends -- although not friends on a budget.

A combination of a thunderstorm and an early dinner meant the place was empty, but Marco and other staff welcomed us warmly all the same. We had the antipasti Parmigiana Di Melanzane (fried eggplant with cheese) and enjoyed the mains Pasta Al Forno (baked pasta with beef and peas), Pasta Con Le Polpette E Salsa Di Pomodoro (spaghetti with meatballs - not pictured), and Turbante Di Pesce Spada "A Beccafico" (baked swordfish). These were also with the Casa Rosso wine and Birra Siciliana beer both blonde and red. All food was superb. The fried eggplant was flavorful and fresh, and the bread was crispy and savory. The baked pasta was rich, the spaghetti and meatballs were nostalgic, and the swordfish was delectable. Safe to say we all cleared our plates easily. We wish nothing but the very best for Marco and his restaurant. This food was some of the best we had on our two week stay throughout Italy. The atmosphere, staff, and of course the amazing food made for a great experience that we would recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced homestyle Sicilian meal.

The waiter is very friendly and invite us to have lunch, and menu price look reasonable so let's go for it. We ordered clam and mussels. So amazing and yummy, especially the soup! For dinner in peak season, try to make a reservation as the restaurant is very small. We arrived before our reservation time and were seated immediately inside and greeted warmly by the restaurant owner. We ordered a bottle of wine to start (most under 20 Euros for a 75 ML bottle). For appetizers we ordered the cheese with honey for 13 Euros, absolutely amazing! We also combined this with the local olive oil and fresh bread brought to the table to start as well. For our second course we chose two pastas, the Penne Alla Amatriciana (I think it was around 12 Euros), and the Spaghetti Alla Carbonara (I think it was around 12 Euros as well). Both had extremely fresh homemade ingredients and were out of this world and extreme attention to care in the preparation. For our entree we split the breaded pork chop (I think it was around 20 Euros), including a side of potatoes (similar to the steak fries that you would see in the U.S.) The service was absolutely amazing and we loved dining alongside the owner and his family and meeting the cat that also lives at the restaurant and comes by to greet you during the meal as well. It truly was like you were dining at the home of the owner and is a must try if you are in Venice!
