The furnace tech diagnosed the furnace as needing at least a new control board and couldn't be sure other parts weren't bad. The furnace was full of ice. Based on the price of the potential repairs, it made more sense to replace the furnace. The installers arrived first thing the next morning and we had heat around lunch time. Everyone from Chapman was clean, courteous and did great work. It wasn't cheap for any of this, but we feel that the prices were reasonable, especially since we were 100% done the very next day.

Blocked dryer vents can cause house fires, and now I'm at lower risk because I've had the vent cleaned. I called our regular HVAC company and they don't do vent cleaning. I called another HVAC company that we've used and their price seemed high. I discovered Family on Google and their had exceptionally high ratings so I called. Not only were they super friendly and kind, they were able to get me in the very next day and at a very reasonable price. Clay, the service tech, was on time and super personable. He got right to work and had the vent cleaned in no time. And when he showed us what came out, I was mortified. I'm very grateful the house didn't burn down and that my dryer will actual work now!

He observed there was a lot of offset tension on the gas line connection to the furnace due its improper installation when the furnace was originally installed. He used a flexible gas line connector to alleviate the issue (see photo) and was very meticulous to ensure the new pipe had no leaks. Furthermore, he applied additional stabilizers to ensure the pipe was properly secured. I certainly appreciate his attention to detail and his outstanding professionalism to make my furnace safer and more efficient. Griffin Halls demonstrated superior skills and willingness to go the extra distance to help his customers brings great credit upon himself and the Good Guys HVAC company. He cleaned up after himself and made sure I was satisfied with the door prior to leaving. It's been about a week now and the door works great. Plan on using this company for other services. Pricing was excellent. It fell between their estimated cost but usually businesses end up at the higher end or over. Theirs fell closer to the lower end. This business is amazing.

I also received a complete explanation of the process that would be used and the scope of the work, the material safety data sheets on the chemicals, and "Five Mold Myths" which really helped put the whole mold issue in perspective ("it's not the next asbestos"). The team answered all my questions, always returning phone calls in a prompt and courteous manner. As they did the remediation, they explained things step by step, and even though it was miserably hot I never heard one complaint. Between the heat and the old part of the crawlspace the job took longer than anticipated, but they never cut corners or rushed to get done - in fact, they had to come back the next day to finish because they wanted to make sure it was done properly. They worked hard, did a very thorough job, cleaned everything up, and the bonus was how polite and considerate they were. I would highly recommend this team!

However, the basement was not finished, but had rough-in plumbing installed. We were looking for someone to finish the basement (4 rooms total), including adding an additional bedroom with closet and full bathroom. This included all electrical, plumbing, framing, drywall, door installation, flooring, trim, and painting. Mike was quick to respond to my original inquiry, come check out the space, and provide a quote. He was timely, friendly, and easy to collaborate with. We changed our mind a few times on final design - we appreciate how patient he was with us while we narrowed in on the final plan. The final quote was very detailed and he provided helpful information on the areas for potential cost increase (given that the home is old and there could have been unexpected things identified after work begun). This helped us set our expectations for the project. During the project, he kept us up to date on progress or concerns and kept the area very clean (ensuring very little debris made its way outside the basement into our home). He managed all of the subcontractors (electric, plumbing, carpet, etc) so we didn't need to worry about a thing. Made it super easy by having one point of contact! His work speaks for itself. There were a lot of difficult aspects of the basement to figure out (i.e. uneven walls and ceilings, tricky vents or pipes along the ceiling, water/electrical shutoffs needing to be accessible, etc), but he managed to turn the space into exactly what we were looking for. The attention to detail makes all the difference! In the end, the project took about two months (including carpet installation) and final cost was in line with the estimate. I'd recommend Reid's Home Repair to anyone!
