My husband had a big rock fly up from an oncoming vehicle the other day and it cracked his windshield in his truck so bad it looked like a big " spider" that was definitely going to spread in many directions. He immediately took it over to their Salem location and they ordered the replacement windshield to be there by 2 pm and by 4pm it was ready to pick up! It is one of History's Mysteries, and I have one for the books. Last week I was driving to work, when from out of nowhere (another dimension perhaps) a rock hit my windshield, of my new used car. The crack in question started off simple enough, at about 3 inches near the center top of my windshield. Within the next couple of days, the crack slowly worked its way down the windshield as if mocking me along the way. By the 4th day, the crack looked as if Thor's Hammer had finished the job, the crack was now almost to the bottom of the windshield in the shape of a nice big S. I contacted the local dealership, they informed me Action Auto Glass was the place to go. I called Action Auto Glass and spoke with a Service Rep; Robbie. Robbie was able to get me a scheduled service by the next business day. I dropped my car off in the morning of the service, and within a couple of hours, I got a phone call, my windshield was replaced, and my car was ready for pickup. Plus, I got a bonus, a lifetime warranty, any scratches or dings, Action Auto Glass will do a free repair. This place should be called A+ Action Auto Glass, they were quick, timely, and easy to work with. Let me first preface this review by stating that it is a bad idea to use a weed eater with plastic blades to edge grass that borders a gravel driveway...especially when your car is a literally a stone's throw away (pun intended)! Never-the-less, I decided to risk it and my poor car ended up with an over-ventilated window and a pile of glass shards (which I saved for an art project--see, there is a silver lining in this mess after all!). After calling a few places, I asked my mechanic for a recommendation and was referred to Action Auto Glass. The price quote was very competitive and Yelpers seem to be kind to them in the Portland area so I figured I'd give them a try. Tony and Kelly treated me fairly and with respect. The replacement window looks great, the service was stellar, and the price was good. So, the moral of the story is: respect your car and remember that glass is fragile. I called for a quote, it was way over priced. The said the part was $700, and the installation $300. I called the dealership and they offered the part in $277 supports included. I then quoted with three different shops, all quotes for the part matched the dealership's while they all offered installation for $175 or less. I called again to Action Auto Glass and they said that after double-checking, their prices were correct ($700 + $300). I honestly believe that Action Auto Glass wanted to take advantage of me since their price was more than double than most other shops in yelp's top 10. I am taking my car somewhere else :) read more

I had two failed installations at another auto glass vendor. I originally went with a the lowest price and after two return visits - distorted glass and then leaking glass - decided to bail out. So I took my 2010 Subaru Outback to Jimmy at Action Auto Glass, based on strong recommendations from Carr Subaru in Beaverton. Action Auto Glass did an excellent job and I would highly recommend them. I am not sure what happened here... I was fully expecting a fine experience given all the positive reviews I read but (1) reception service was NOT good and (2) they damaged the interior of the car and (3) did not respond at all to my email reporting the damage. The long story: A few weeks ago I had a crack in my windshield and I called and spoke to a friendly guy who said I could bring in the car any time on a particular week day because they had had some cancellations so it would be fine. I asked how long it would take and he said 3 hours. I told him I would bring it in at 10. I brought the car in at 10am. There is apparently nobody who regularly staffs the front desk and there is no way to ring someone in, so I just waited and then eventually made some noise to get someone in the garage to notice me. Two and a half hours later, I called back to check on status and they said that they have not started yet and that they would call me when they are done. Fine. Fortunately I was not in a rush to get back to work that day. 3.5 hours in, I went back to the shop. I listened to someone losing patience, being told their car was being worked on, and walking out. I asked about my car, and the guy said that it would be done close to 3. When I asked about the original quote of 3 hours, his "excuse" was (1) that the other guy (who just walked out) had been waiting around for his car already and (2) that I had been told when i called that they would call me when they were done (note they had not told me on the call to expect any delays). At that point I figured there was no point in arguing with such ridiculous reasons, so I left and hoped they would actually get it done by end of day. So around 3pm, they actually did call me to say they were done. If the job was well done, I would have still given them 3 stars, since maybe that guy was new and they didn't know he was providing bad service. But sadly, they had punched a penny-sized hole in the interior fabric of my car, and made several dark stains at other spots where their tools touched down hard. I was too fed up with them at that point to turn around and talk in person so I just sent a note through their website asking if they would compensate me for the damage out of the $375 that I paid them. No response, not even an apology without compensation. That's that. Next time I need autoglass repair I will not be using these guys. read more

I came here based on the recommendations of a shop that works on my truck. They said Jimmie would take care of me. Well he certainly did. Though it took a bit longer than I expected, the quality of the work and Jimmie not letting the truck go till the curing time was done is what should happen. I've been quicker places in the past and can't say I left happy. Here not only did I leave happy, I'm still happy. And though it took a while I brought a book, checked out a gluten free bakery around the corner, visited the Goodwill a couple of streets away. All in all not a bad way to spend a Saturday morning. Not only would I recommend Action Auto Glass and Jimmie to anyone I will come here again if i need glass work. I must start out by saying the reason I took my car to Action Auto Glass was due to the Yelp reviews! I wanted something close to downtown where I work and was finding a lot of bad reviews. I called around to a few different places including one recommended by my insurance company. I did get a lower quote, but the reviews were horrible and the one recommended by insurance was higher. Also, Jimmie offered to take me to work and pick me up, which I thought was great! I got there early at 7am and he was there and ready to go. As soon as everything was done I received a phone call and was picked up exactly when I'd asked to be. The people were very nice and I was told if I ever got a chip in my new windshield they would fill it for free. Super friendly people (well, guys)! I drove where with Chippy, the massive dent on my windshield, on a Wednesday afternoon to see how much it would set me back to introduce epoxy to Chippy. Jimmie said that it would cost zero cents to get that done but they didn't have availability until the next morning. Not cost me zero but they would bill my insurance but completely gratis. I came the next day and Jimmie wasn't there. Walt was there and just as friendly as Jimmie. I offered to buy them lunch or a coffee and he politely refused. We seem to accumulate windshield chips and cracks regularly, and have dad many repairs over the years by many shops. Action was, by far, the best service and the best work we have ever had. They were fast, conscientious, friendly, and the work was outstanding. A complicated quarter-sized bulls-eye chip with additional cracks has almost disappeared. On the recommendation from Sunset Porsche I had my windshield replaced in my car by Action Auto Glass.I was dreading this installation due to seeing and living thru poor installations in the past. Fortunately these were repairs done to company cars and not done by installers I have chosen. So not knowing where to start I first contacted Sunset to have them do the job. They recommended Action Auto Glass. Number one I wanted factory glass. This was not problem in fact they wanted the vin number first to order the glass from Porsche. The installer David called and gave the approximate arrival time the day of the appointment but stated he would call again before arrival. David did exactly as promised and called 15 minutes before arrival. Upon arrival I was shown the replacement glass(factory as requested) and explained the install. David did a through walk thru on the job checking the car for any and all small blemishes in the interior so we were both aware of the cars condition before install. The install took a little over 2 hours and turned out perfect. In fact a alignment on the window trim was corrected by David. I want to say I appreciate the quality and time David took to do a quality job on my car. Action Auto Glass is my go to Auto glass company from now on. Thank you for a quality job! read more

Been meaning to write this for a few weeks now. I went here mid week at around 9 am to have a windshield chip repair done. I was greeted warmly by Jimmie and asked him if he could fix the chip and how long it would take. He looked at the windshield and said he could do it right then and it would take 10 minutes. His answer took me by surprise because in the past I've had repairs like this take up to 30 minutes and cost $100 easy. Of course that was in Texas. Anyway, true to his word, in ten minutes he was done and I couldn't even find the spot where the damage occurred. He then surprised me again by saying there was no charge. Damn! Totally made my day! I thanked Jimmie several times for the great customer service and went on my way. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs repairs done. read more

I think Jimmie was having a bad day or something. I set my appointment for them to come by and replace my glass at my house and when they didn't show up I called, and the manager said he had me scheduled for the following day. Ooops. Mistakes happen. Totally understandable. I told him that I was going to be in town anyway Friday and I would just drop it off. When I picked it, he refused to take my State Farm claim number to bill them for the windshield replacement. Yeah, but he and I already talked about this before I brought the car in. He even went as far as throwing my credit card back at me. The guy was a d*ck. And $350 for a windshield? I could have got it for cheaper, mobile repair service, and less attitude. I don't know what went wrong here because this place seems to get good reviews. My car was in for scheduled maintainance at Volvo. Our windshield was very scratched up for a reason I couldn't pinpoint. It was dangerous to drive in the rain because visibility was poor. Per my insurance agent, I could either: 1 use their glass company which would've meant I couldn't get the repair done that service call. or 2 Get the glass company Volvo recommended (Action Auto Glass) to do the repair & then record their best guess as to what caused the scratches. Seemed simple enough & Jimmy agreed to write up something stating what they thought caused the scratches & give it to us for insurance purposes. They did the work, it was fine. They called about a week later for payment & I asked where that statement was. He said he'd email the statment for insurance with my reciept. So I paid. That was a mistake. A month and a half has passed and I still do not have the statement. No reciept was ever mailed. I tried to get Volvo to help after 4-5 calls to Action Auto glass we mishandled. Seemed like Jimmy didn't even remember the case even though we talked for awhile. He sent a tech to do the job who said he "didn't know" what caused the scratches!! How is that Action Auto Glass' 'BEST GUESS'. Extremely frustrating. read more

Our 2nd time coming here. First time was to replace a windshield. They were super great to us. Even drove us to the mall so that we could wait there, and picked us up. Now this time was to replace a driver's side window after someone broke into our vw. We called around for quotes and these guys were over $100 cheaper than the most expensive quote we got.
