Here, Action Harware, knows or works with others to find it, help you help yourself or they even will replace a screen in a window screen if you can get it to them. Moved to the area about 4 years ago and bought many things - anywhere from paint, to downspout extenders, rope, river rock, you name it. I love this store. I agree with one review in that their prices are a little higher than the Depot or Lowe's, but it's worth the convenience and the "small town" feel that you get shopping here. The younger "kids" who work there aren't as engaging, but they're usually working the register. read more

When Bob asked me about what I needed, he took time out of his day to help me find the right item each time. He explained to me how each item worked and always made sure I got everything I needed. I don't think I've ever purchased something from there that has actually worked or hasn't broken in the first week of ownership.

I live steps away from Action Hardware, and as a relatively new homeowner, we're over there about once per month. They have the stuff you need for small to medium-sized jobs, and when you're an idiot and forgot to buy a shovel when the snowstorm is headed your way, they've got 'em when Home Depot and Lowe's don't. I'm taking off a star because the younger folks who work there don't seem like they want to be there, and you can get through a whole 15-minute shopping event plus check-out without so much as a grunt coming your way. But if you snag one of the older guys, the service rocks socks. Holy crap, I sound old. (Damn whippersnappers... off my lawn!) read more

I'll make it short and sweet :) Really convenient - close to home and I don't have to navigate big box hell parking lot. Great service - I was greeted immediately upon entering the store, when I asked for my item I was shown where it was NOT directed. Pleasant experience - staff was friendly. Not sure what I would have paid for a radiator key at Home Depot. I don't really care if I would have saved .01 or 1.00 - I'll always rather pay more for pleasant experience and to support a real person's business. Thanks Action! read more

I have been going to this store for 39 years, I have lived in Delaware for 39 years and this is one place that has been a constant reminder of how stores should be. They have a very nice staff that can help you with most common house hold problems. Need a piece of glass or your screen fixed no problem. I wish more people in northern Delaware went to this store they deserve our business, forget those big block stores, come to a store where the help really cares. About as good a hardware store you could ask for in a little shopping plaza. They have a wide variety of items ranging from lawn/hardware etc to household and even pet stuff. May be a bit overpriced compared to say Lowes BUT its quick and convenient and sometimes you can get good prices on off brand stuff. read more

For a modest-sized hardware store, they stock quite a wide array of products. But their best feature is the staff. I'm usually greeted when I enter, and it's always easy to find someone who's not only friendly but also knows a tremendous amount about hardware in general and about the store's inventory in particular. I so appreciate having this hardware store five minutes away! These small businesses get crowded out by the Home Depots, etc. The people that work there are very experienced and generous with their time when I'm in there looking for a solution for some problem around the house, plumbing or whatever it may be. I've had then re-do screens, cut Plexiglas, advise me on garden issues...they have a good selection of anything I'm likely to need around the house. We need these stores! The staff at this store has gone way out of their way for me more than once. One day I went in and bought heavy gauge wire, which they cut into 30 marshmallow sticks for me for a class trip...at no charge! I go there for everything now. read more

A very convenient and well-stocked hardware store that has been around for a long time, with excellent, helpful sales staff. Great store- I have been going there for decades. The have a great selection- whoever picks the merchandise knows what works- for example they have household cleaners that are hard to find elsewhere- the stuff that actually works! Always my first choice over the big box stores. read more
