It's been a crazy week. My brother got food poisoning and he had to be hospitalized for four days. Let me tell you this, if you've got food poisoning, you have to have a working toilet. UPDATE: The fact that Action Pumping lied (without informing me) on the permit application for my septic tank replacement last year has resulted in a 4+ month delay in my construction project, which has resulted in my losing thousands of dollars in AirBnB income. Short version: If you are planning on ever requesting a permit for construction in the future (and if you'll want a STR permit, you'll need to do work with permits), don't let Action Pumping apply for your permit on your behalf. Action Pumping told me in the quote that it included "Provide the County of San Bernardino Installation Permit with proper inspection." But they didn't - they provided an improper inspection, and I'm the one paying for it. They put in "like-for-like" to expedite things and that his resulted in major delays when the county caught on that it wasn't like-for-like. Long version: In summer of 2019, we bought our house in Joshua Tree and asked Action Pumping for a quote to replace the septic tank. We told them we need to expanding from 750 gallons to 1000 gallons because we plan to add a 3rd bedroom and 2nd bath. Included in their quote was that they would take care of all necessary permits. Their quote was several hundreds of dollars more than the other quote we received, but they had these good Yelp review so we were willing to pay extra to avoid any headaches. A few months later when we were applying for the building permits, we were told we needed a septic certification, and that the septic company that installed our tank should have given us one. I contacted Action Pumping and they said they hadn't given me one because I hadn't asked for one. After some back and forth they finally filled out a septic cert form for me, and I sent that to EHS. At this point I had everything in my building plans approved, all I was waiting on was the septic cert. This was last summer. EHS came back and said they can't certify the tank because the leach lines are inadequate for a 1000 gallon tank. I asked, then why was I issued a permit for the tank? Turns out it was because Action Pumping had written "like for like" in the permit application, but the replacement was not like for like, it was a 1000 gallon tank replacing a 750 gallon tank. The county rules are clear that your drainage system needs to match your septic tank size (I didn't know any of this at the time, of course, and neither apparently did Action Pumping, which isn't good). So after some back and forth, with Action Pumping arguing they don't think an expanded drainage system is necessary and EHS saying, well those are the rules, I was finally faced with the fact that I needed to get a percolation study and then would need to install more leach lines. The percolation study would take over 2 months to get done, and cost something like $1500. So I got that done, and then I had to have EHS approve my septic plan. Around this time I asked Action Pumping and 2 other companies for a quote for the leach lines. After all the delays they had caused me, Action Pumping didn't even give me a reasonable quote for the leach lines! They were more than the other two companies. So of course I'm not going to do business with them again. It took a few weeks for EHS to approve the septic plan, and now the plan is with B&S, and hopefully next week I'll get started on my leach lines, and then I can start on the bedroom and bath. The original screw-up by Action Pumping put me behind on this project by something like 4 months, during which I could have been renting out our place for a $1000+ profit per month. Instead it's sitting there with drill holes all around the front yard from the perc study. Those holes would have been fine last August before our house was ready for rental. Now they are costing us money every week. So - if you use Action Pumping - make sure you do your own research! Don't rely on what they say is necessary, especially if you are planning to every apply for permits for anything. And either don't have them do the permits for you, or ask them to show you the permit application before they submit it so you can check for errors. I'm sure they thought they were doing me a favor by fibbing on the permit application. They did save me a few thousand dollars in the short run. But in the long run, I'm paying for those costs anyway, plus my project is delayed, which is costing me thousands on top of that. Word to the wise! read more

**UPDATE** So though my experience with action wasn't the most pleasant, my conversation with Heather (an employee who reached out through Facebook after reading my complaint) was a complete 180 from my experience with this company. She was extremely understanding and empathetic to the situation and went above and beyond to make things right (within like 5 min y'all) I'm upping my rating simply based on how wonderful heather was... If I had had the opportunity to speak with her earlier I'm confident I would have had a different outcome today. ast night at around 8pm my plumbing in my whole house backed up, I have 2 small children who spend their days at home with me so this was an emergency..... I called action plumbing who had done our septic tank pumping in June and the guy I spoke with informed me of a extra $100 service fee for coming at night, I had no problem paying this given that it was an emergency but the guy said he could come over in the morning around 8, before his first job at 9 and then we wouldn't have to pay extra, we thought that would be fine since it was going to be first thing in the morning. The guy calls me at 7 am to tell me it will be around 8:30 then doesn't show up, I called the office which was now open and the lady informed they had no one available till 4 pm.... and that the guy had "left a note" on her desk to call me, but she was busy and was gonna get to it now it will be closer to 5 before anyone gets here. The office seemed completely unbothered by the fact their employee had told me these things and then left me out to dry. I've been without use of any of my plumbing all day. I COULD HAVE CALLED A DIFFERENT PLUMBER HD THE GUY JUST SAID HE COULDNT MAKE IT OVER.... Rant over, just a poorly ran company all around it seems. read more

Action Pumping came to our rescue again! The first time was a couple of years ago when they installed a new septic system at our home. That was a planned emergency project, but our recent main line stoppage was not. And of course it happened over the New Years holiday when trying to get plumbing help is almost impossible. Almost! To make matters worse we found out how useless the Home Warranty company that we pay annually for just such emergencies turned out to be, only to be told they could schedule a plumber to come out a week later. Can you imagine living in your home without having the use of any of your drains for a Week?! Think about what we were already dealing with and having to continue that for another week. We would have had to get a hotel room! Even after the Home Warranty company "escalated" our case it was still an unacceptable wait time. That's when I remembered Action Pumping. I usually only think about them for outside septic tank issues and not drainage problems inside the house. So I got on the phone with Shilo from Action Pumping and she had Jerry at my front door by 7:30am the next morning! Jerry was the ultimate in his trade. He was a one man show that had everything he needed to find where and what the blockage was and showed me everything along the way. He was professional and kind with me and I appreciated that sooo much because I had had a rough couple of days by then. He cleared the problem and also helped me brainstorm a different issue I've been curious about how to solve. My lesson out of all of this is to contact Action Pumping first for any drainage problems we have. ENDLESS DELAYS, POOR COMMUNICATION, RATS Reached out last JULY to have a septic inspection on my rental property and discovered I needed a new waste line and septic tank. They were very busy so it took a little over a month to get a team out there. Once they were able to start they said they needed to bring in a second contractor for some concrete work. This took another month. There was seemingly zero communication between the concrete contractor and Action Pumping, because they didn't go and finish the job after the concrete work was done. I had to call them to check in and when I did they told me they couldn't finish their end of the work for another 2 months because of some other jobs. In the meantime rats got into the house and trashed the entire place because they left gaping holes in the bathroom floors. We hired Action Pumping to pump our septic tank, which hadn't been emptied since we bought the house in early 2021. Prior to moving to the high desert, we had never dealt with a septic tank system before, so we had a lot of questions. We called Action Pumping and the woman on the line was super helpful and transparent on costs, she scheduled us for an appointment the next day even though we didn't urgently need it (we had no backing up or overflow, we were just emptying before our 3 year mark). Thomas arrived as scheduled to our house and began digging. He knew where our tank was based on county records and found it almost immediately. While he was over, we asked him many questions since both of us had never owned a house with a septic tank before. He happily answered all our questions (and yes, we had a lot of questions) - he was very knowledgeable and knew so much about septic tanks and maintenance! We told him our future plans for the backyard, and he gave us suggestions on how to keep the tank accessible after the renovations. Thomas is AMAZING, and we highly recommend both him and Action Pumping. The price was exactly what they quoted us, but Thomas did let us know about any added costs if we were to encounter issues. I needed a technician to come out on a urgent call because my septic tank had caused a back up. (Yucca Valley). I spoke to someone earlier the charge was $450 which was fine. The technician Mark Garcia came out, he couldnt find the septic tank supposedly. We told him where it was, my neighbor told him where it was it and he decided to check in the back yard, my tenant told him where it was and he did not listen. The septic tank was in front of house were we told him! When he completed the task and locating where the septic tank was, the exact spot where everyone told him, he proceeds to say he was charging me $90 dollars extra for walking around the property because he couldnt find it, even though he was told where it was!! I told him this is not fair to charge me for the time you walked around the house and you did not listen to anyone! I told he must of not known what he was doing, he yelled at me called me a "fucking cunt". He threatened me. If I did not pay up, he was going to put the "shit" back in the tank. How many other women have been verbally abused by Mark Garcia in Yucca Valley?? I'm so disgusted, I will never recommend Action again. Be prepared to encounter a disrespectful and abusive technician Mark Garcia from Action in Yucca Valley who calls people "fucking cunts " and threatens them. They supposedly pumped my septic tank last month. I needed a septic tank inspection today to approve the loan on the house. The inspector said that the tank was still 3/4 full. I called Action and they said they pumped 1,000 gallons the inspector said that was impossible. They then said they couldn't pump because their was too much grease and baby wipes. The employees doing the job never informed me their was a problem pumping, however they did say that the truck was almost full before they got here. The company is refusing to correct the problem or refund my money. The office said it was my fault that the tank couldn't be pumped. read more

As a Realtor I requested a septic tank inspection from Action Pumping in September as part of the sale of a home. They sent out two employees that opened up one of two septic tank lids. They stated the lid needed replacement. They replaced the lid and stated that the tank was broke and failed the tank although did state there was no problem with its outflow. They used inapproapriate language in front of the 70+ year old seller, a lady, also stated facts about septic tanks that were not true. One being that every house needs an inspection before it can sell and that a tank certification was good until that property sells again. Not true. I requested two other companies to do a septic inspection and both found the tank to be in a good working condition. When I discussed the inspection and out come of the Action Pumping with their office manager she stated in an email that the inspection procedure was "not their best service and a huge mess" and she would be happy to refund the charges, over $300. When I later asked for the refund, having not receiving any, on the phone and gave my mailing address she agreed to put it in the mail. After not receiving the refund for sometime I requested it again and received a response from the owner of the company that there would not be a refund and if I wanted any more information to contact his attorney. If we would had gone with the initial insepction report thousands of dollars would have been spent to replace a tank that did not need it at that time, as supported up by two independant licensed companies. read more

Robert and another guy came out with a tractor and located it in a short period of time, the lid was 6 Feet below the ground and I had a broken main line. Owning an older home unfortunately comes with some disadvantages. We've now had Action out 3 times to make various repairs (replacing cast iron pipe and septic pumping, main water line replacement and now a clogged pipe). Each time they are quick to come out, address and explain the issue, make the proper repairs and always leave everything immaculate after they're done. On top of that they are courteous. I hired Action plumbing to connect my multiple unit rental property in Yucca Valley to the city sewer. It was a $14,200.00 job. It was a complicated job since there were 4 separate septic tanks, all at different corners of the property. 4 separate and deep trenches were dug out throughout the property. I chose not to purchase the broken pipe insurance as I have extensive experience working with and repairing pvc pipes. So if any were broken I had the ability to repair them. What I wasn't expecting was that any company would break these pipes not tell the owner put the dirt back and bury the broken pipes. Several main water lines were broken but they were repaired. However if they were part of the extensive irrigation system they simply buried those broken pipes without notifying the owner of its location. The low voltage wires that serves the irrigation valves were also severed and buried. What as once a 12 zone irrigation system was completely destroyed by Action Pumping and then they buried it making it almost impossible to repair it. I have several 40ft pine trees on the property. Now they were not getting water from the irrigation system, which was working before. To keep the big trees from dying I had to water these trees by hand 3 times a week which took 2 hours each day and I don't live in the area. It will cost me thousands of $ to have this irrigation system rebuilt. At no time during construction did anyone from Action Pumping informed me that pipes were broken. When I contacted them they told me "but you didn't get the insurance". That was their excuse for burying 20 or so broken pipes and low voltage electrical lines. I couldn't believe a company would ever hide broken pipes for a functional irrigation system. read more
