I brought my car to Action Service Center after being told by an employee named Haseed that they offer free estimates. That promise is also posted on their building. Based on that assurance, I dropped off my vehicle without signing any documents or authorizing any work. The next day, the owner, Mr. Farooq, claimed he had performed a diagnostic and demanded $240, even though I never agreed to it. I refused to pay for unauthorized work, and he refused to release my vehicle unless I paid the charge. This is coercive, unethical, bait and switch. Under Virginia Code § 59.1-207.3, no repair or diagnostic work may be performed without the customer's written or verbal authorization. Action Service Center violated this law and used bait-and-switch tactics to pressure payment. I do not recommend this shop to anyone seeking honest service. Their practices are deceptive, and they held my property over a charge I never agreed to. Completely no transparency! read more

I am incredibly grateful to the team at Action Service Center. They went above and beyond in assisting me and my horse when we broke down on I 95. I was pulling my trailer with Ernie inside. I was terrified, but this team put together a plan to get us to the shop, pick up a new alternator, install it, and get us back on the road late on a Friday afternoon. The dealer down the road said they could look at it on Monday. That doesn't work when you have a horse in the trailer. When Faroog was originally contacted and heard there was a horse in danger, he sent his team to assist me. Solomon came to my rescue, put in a new battery, and drove my truck to the shop for me as I was still very nervous. This is incredible service and compassionate people. I cannot sing enough praises for action auto, particularly Ben. Being fresh out of undergrad and new to owning a car, I was extremely nervous about dealing with car troubles. This past weekend, my car wouldn't start in a parking garage. After struggling to find a tow truck that could make the garage clearance, I called action auto and asked for a towing recommendation. They put me in contact with a towing service that was in the garage and towing my car within 30 minutes, some of the quickest service I've ever seen. Once at the shop, action auto took immaculate care of my car, updating me every step of the way in very simple terms that I could understand. I was anxious about having car troubles for the first time, and called action auto multiple times while my car was being serviced. I apologized for calling so frequently, and Ben assured me that I could call as many times as I'd like in order to feel comfortable. The customer service experience was the best it possibly could have been. My car was ready to go after much less time than expected. They promptly replaced the switch that had failed, took my car for a test drive to ensure nothing else was wrong, and called me to let me know my car was ready. I also had a great experience picking my car up; I was in and out in under 5 minutes. There was absolutely no nickeling and diming; with my warranty I didn't have to spend a single cent. I had heard from friends and family that mechanics will often upcharge for things that the car doesn't need, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover that action auto was wonderfully transparent and avoided all upcharges. My family van completely broke down during our road trip to DC. We don't know of any garage in the area. The towing company recommended this garage and I took a chance on them. The van was dropped off on a Tuesday evening when the shop was closed. The next morning I spoke to the manager and the mechanic. They are both courteous and professional. It turned out that the alternator died. Since we were supposed to leave Alexandria and drive to NYC on that day, we needed the van fixed quickly. They promised to get the van fixed by around 2pm. They ended up getting the van fixed by around 1PM. Because of that we could continue our trip without too much disruption to our original schedule. The garage was very pleasant to do business with, and they were professional. Even though they knew that I need the van fixed quickly, they did not over-charge me. After my car being at the shop for several weeks, I was told there was another issue with the car and now there will be another charge. I had to babysit them them to get the job completed. The first repair went fine. I got a new starter. Drove my car for 3 weeks, and again it won't start. I take it back to see what's what and was told I need a new battery. I am very impressed with their quick turn around service and foreign vehicle knowledge. This is the only place I take my 335i BMW for service. Some of the staff originally worked for BMW, so they know exactly how to identify the issues. The owner (Usman) was able to get Ford to honor their warranty, being that I bought the BMW from a Ford/Mazda dealership, when originally they didn't want to. The owner even went as far as to make Ford provide German parts when they wanted to only give me cheap after market. I've had two vehicles including the BMW serviced here and this is the only place I will go now. The staff/owner this shop are really dishonest. They told me what the cost would be to repair. I got a phone call wanting to take a different approach because he was almost sure it will fix the problem with the throttle body of my Volvo. I drove my car the next day after my car was supposedly fixed. My Volvo went limp while driving 60 MPH on 495N. The risk my family and I suffered during this experience was awful. I went back, they were going to charge me hundreds extra for the same repair when none of the circumstances had changed. The owner was going to get the throttle body piece for $536 plus charge me labor. I purchased the same part from the same place mechanics use for $400. I had someone helped to me by picking up the vehicle the first time due to my work load that day. He was kind to help. The owner asked if "He was my boyfriend". I would like to know ; Why should it matter? Why are you questioning a stranger who you just met about my personal business?
