So this just happened.....Waiting outside the shop at 8am. At 8:15 someome pulls up along side of me rolls down His window and says "are you here for a smog?" I said yes. The man in the red truck looks at me like I have grown a 3rd eye. He says "what year is your car?" I said 1999. He said "well it's going to take at least a half hour to recalibrate the machine." I said well I have an appointment somewhere else at 9am which was why I was here exactly at 8 as we discussed. He looked at me and said "oh". Smogging your car might be great for the environment, but I've literally never had a good experience trying to get my cars smogged. I typically have to wait somewhere between an hour and an eternity in a stuffy room where I might get stabbed. Well, as it turned out, I needed to smog my car, and the last day I could get it smogged before running up penalty fees (because that's how I roll) happened to be a Saturday. I rolled over to Action Smog at around noon, because that's when I wake up, and was immediately greeted by the owner. He asked if I was looking to smog my car, to which I said yes. He had me sign some papers, I sat down, stared at my phone for a minute contemplating my life and considered all of my failures, and then I saw that the tech was backing my car up and parking it. Great, I thought. I didn't just fail, but I failed in record time. I feared that I had somehow failed spectacularly. He walked over. "You're good," and handed me my keys. Literally in and out in under 10 minutes. He didn't try to swindle me, he was quick, and no one tried to stab me. 10/10, would smog again. read more

Went here for smog check based on good reviews on yelp. Just moved from Idaho so it was my first "smog experience." Walked in, no obvious waiting area or office so I just stood there. There was one guy working on another car in the garage. He looked up and said "I will be with you in a few minutes." I stood there for another few minutes and then went and sat in my car for another ten minutes or so and then I left. I might have stayed if I knew what I was waiting for or how long it might be. I don't like going somewhere that barely acknowledges your existence and then ignores you. Obviously they aren't this bad all the time if they have good reviews. Not a good experience for me though. I had a great experience at A&G Smog just down the road and that's where I will be taking my other vehicle. read more

I took the car and was greeted and told he'd be with me in a bit (he was working with another customer). He was very friendly, completely open about the pricing, and told me it would take 10 minutes. I have been going here for years with great friendly service. Recently (2019?) ownership changed. I gave it two visits. The first time was rough - I walked away annoyed as if i was bothering him to get a smog check. The second time was way worse. He complained I was interrupting his breakfast and that he wasn't prepared to be open - why have the garage door open if you're not ready to business? I should have just walked away but didn't. Life is too short to put up with this kind of service when it's just a smog check. Don't go here - stick a pin in your eye, it will be more rewarding. read more

I have to agree with the other reviewer, Dwatay, who complained about the owner/employee's lunch hour. Same thing happened to me today. Arrived at 11:40. There's was one car being checked, another behind it. Was told to come back after 1PM because employee was going to lunch after he did the next car. I also read and appreciate the owner's response to the other review. Indeed, a guy does have to eat. But *this* guy drove 12 miles from the Sonoma Valley to do business with you (on the strength of your Yelp reviews) and arrived to find that you weren't prepared to do business. Suggestions for the business owner: For starters, stop advertising your weekday hours on Yelp as "8:30 - 5:30". Those aren't your hours. You're closed for lunch. If you're not willing to do that, then go with an appointment-only business model. That will certainly keep people from interrupting your meals. In your reply to Dwatay's review, you asked if the mere fact of a guy having to eat his lunch warranted a one-star review. Viewed that way, no. But look at it another way. A customer came to transact business and was turned away during advertised business hours. That's a one-star customer experience. read more

Went there at 1pm on a Saturday, only had to wait 5 minutes for the car in front of me to finish. I'm a woman who knows nothing about cars, but he took the time to answer a few questions I had.
