When I needed to have my car tested, I checked Yelp! for good reviews and addresses. I drove around to three locations, the first quoted the ridiculous $112 price, and the others were into the $75+ range. I drove up to Action Smog at random when I saw their sign. Very speedy, easy service. The whole thing took 12 minutes (I clocked it) and was just as fast as the year before. The place is nothing special, though the owner has added a comfy couch and stacks of magazines to the little waiting room, so that's an improvement over last time. But like I said, it only took 12 minutes, so it really didn't matter. I would definitely recommend them for your DMV smog checks. read more

My experience at Action Smog was great! I would recommend this smog center to friends and family. Rama, the owner, did the smog and the service was quick,friendly, and straight forward. $55, 15 minutes and a passing certificate, off to the DMV. I've smogged two cars here. The first belonged to one of my kids who let it run dangerously low on oil. The owner noticed that the car didn't sound right and checked the oil. I needed to add oil, so he let me leave the car and go get some oil, which he put in for me. The car passed and still runs. The second time, my car failed, and I thought I had better try another shop that offered a free re-test because I was really unsure about what my car was up to (they have minds of their own, I think). I wasn't happy about the experience I had at the other shop even before any testing began, so I decided to take a chance at this shop again, knowing that I might still need a third test. Turned out that everything was fine and I did get a discount on the second test. The bottom line for me is that the owner is a straightforward guy, knows his stuff, and doesn't play games or give you low ball quotes and then add extra charges because you drive a VAN, for example, like some places do. And, there is usually enough parking, from what I can tell. read more

Came in an hour after they opened hoping to get a fast, last minute smog check without an appointment. It took 2 minutes for the guy to finish up the person ahead of me, and 8 minutes of me waiting for my car to get a smog and I was on the road. with 45 with certificate, 55 was not bad for the great service! After reading the great reviews here I decided to give Action Smog a shot. I came one day during their posted hours and a sign on the door said to come back around 1pm. I couldn't make I that day so I came back a couple days later. When I returned the shop was open and when I asked for a smog check the employee said, "You'll have to come back later because I'm on my lunch break." I understand that a guy needs to eat, but not quite the service I expect from a new business with a GRAND OPENING banner hung out front. The friendly customer service wasn't quite there either. So I took my business around the corner and will do the same for my other cars. I hope the sandwich was good because it cost him over $100 in business today, and hundreds more in the years to come. read more

I took my car here at 1:20 pm on a Monday for a smog test. Everything took about 30 minutes. There was another customer before me, but the owner took the time to greet me right away, and he let me know he would be with me shortly. I only waited 10 minutes to be helped. The actual smog test was very quick (20 minutes) and I was satisfied with the customer service. I will definitely recommend this place to everyone I know. The one star is only because this place was fast. I don't know how they are still in business. I only came here because of the high Yelp reviews. When I pulled up I wasn't greeted at all so I had to walk into the shop. No lobby or anything, the actual garage. There was crap everywhere. Not just typical automotive stuff, but trash, clothes, boxes. I filled out the paper with my husband's info (because it was for his truck) and then signed it. The guy then tells me very condescendingly "This has to be your info. You can't sign a contract for someone else." He tells me it will be $55, which is way more than what I had seen other places advertised for. While I was waiting I started looking online for coupons or even a website, but couldn't find anything. So as I was leaving I asked him if he had any coupons or a website. He replied, once again condescendingly, "No. Why would I need a website it's just a smog place. I have Google and Yelp." Then after I left I saw on the card he stapled to the paperwork that they claim to match any competitors price. Uh why didn't he say that when I asked?? Worst customer service ever! If the experience had been better I wouldn't have cared as much that it was so expensive, but this dude needs a few lessons on how to treat customers right! read more

i would like to say that the service was fast yet very kind, the person who did my smog noticed that 3 out of 4 of my tires were low and informed me that that could be potentially dangerous for me and my family while driving. so he put air in my three tires before he even did my smog . and may i just say a super great deal! i was only charged for the smog, i did have a coupon which made it an even better deal although even without coupon very inexpensive, especially with the great service. i researched on yelp before i went and this place deserves all the good reviews that are on here. read more
