My wife and I booked a 2 hour Segway tour 7/14. First and foremost, the tour guide was late and according to the two ladies at the front desk, this seems to be a common occurrence. The tour guide did apologize for being late (so that's a plus). The most displeased aspect of our experience is that it ended early (Our total tour was only an 1hr and 25mins). A recommendation for future Segway tours, if the tour appears to be ending before it should be, the guided should improvise and take the tour to additional areas of interest. I don't want my money back, I just want to prevent future unsatisfied customers. Note - my wife and we're the only people on today's 11:30am Segway tour. read more

What a fun experience! We really enjoyed all parts of the trip. After checking in (which was SO easy because you can pay and sign your waiver online before you come in) we watched a short video. Then we got on the shuttle van and drove about 20 minutes. Our driver told us fun facts about things in Big Bear. We arrived at the course and from there took an off road vehicle up to the top. Harnessing up was simple (they basically do it for you) and then on to the course. There were plenty of crew to get us safely on and off the lines. They were friendly, funny and knowledgeable. The best time EVER! I decided I needed a little adventure to bring in my birthday this year and zip lining was it. We were greeted by friendly staff that gave us some quick safety tips before heading out. It's about a 20 minute van ride but don't worry, even the shuttle drivers are nice. Once we arrived it's was about a 5 minute ride to get to the actually zip lines where you we have a opportunity to use the restrooms before gearing up. The instructors were great and you can tell they want you to be safe but also have fun! Our group was about 17 people ranging from all ages. It felt like at most we waited about 5-10 minutes between zip lines but don't worry, the time flies and you don't even realize it. You can bring your cell phone but the also have a photographer that catches some pretty great shots that are available for purchase after. Again, I would recommend this to anyone! read more

I would give 10 stars if I could! A small group of 4 went zip lining, I thing there were about 12 in the total group. The guys absolutely took safety very serious but made the whole experience an absolute blast. Our group had ages from 20's to 80's all weights and sizes. I am very sad to have to give Action Zipline & Segway Tours such a poor review as I was positive this would be a five star experience! It started out great. My boyfriend and I had reservations to Zipline at 11:00 AM on Thanksgiving day. We arrived a bit early and had plenty of time to fill out the short waiver and find a seat on the benches to watch the safety video that was going to be played prior to heading out. While waiting I checked in on Yelp and discovered that there was a 10% discount! I walked up to the counter and showed the woman and she said, "I cannot give you that discount because you booked online and I'd have to refund the whole thing and recharge you." Well, that isn't a hard thing to do and that would be the true customer service thing to do. The Yelp discount is there to use, not for looks. I decided not to make a fuss and asked if I could use the 10% off for the photos we planned on purchasing at the end instead and that was a big fat "No" as well. Not cool. The zipling itself was great! My boyfriend had never been before and he had a great time! The view is spectacular and 9 platforms is a good amount. The woman who drove us to the ziplines was also very informative of information about Big Bear and very personable. The guides were also extremely helpful, kind and made us feel like they hadn't already done the same tour two hours earlier, which was much appreciated. At this point they were at a 3-4 star review, but what happened at the end of the tour was just wrong. There was a family of 8 that was on the tour with us who showed up a bit late at the beginning so did not watch the safety video. This safety video made it clear that cell phones and cameras were not allowed. Now, I've been ziplining before and literally have a selfie midair so it's BS that they weren't allowing photos and calling it a safety issue, but everyone followed the rules anyway, except the family that was not shown the safety video. The tour guides asked them to stop taking photos a few lines in and proceeded to call the front desk to tell them to delete the family's photos that were being taken by the company! When we arrived back at the facility, it became apparent that this family had no photos of them and only three on their phone. Even their group photo was deleted. That is SO WRONG! It was Thanksgiving, a family vacation and with that many people, they paid nearly $1,000. Good job, Action Zipline. You lost the $50 they were going to pay to purchase the photo card and a received a super low review for horrible customer service and by simply being mean. read more

Overall, our experience at Action Zipline tours was less than stellar. Here's why: 1. When we called to make our reservation for a particular Saturday, we were informed that the only timeslots they had remaining for their Groupon customers were at 8am, meaning that the later tours were not an option for us. This is not the first time a company has openly treated me like a second-class customer for using a Groupon. Come on, people. Unless the Groupon states otherwise, Groupon customers should be treated just like everyone else. Don't you know we're going to Yelp about it? 2. The office staff seemed aloof. If I'm going to put my life in your hands hanging 50+ feet above the ground, I'd at least like you to make eye contact with me before that happens. 3. The ziplining experience was only so-so. Ziplining was fun and the mountain views were pretty. But the ground below was cluttered by roads and small manufactured buildings. If I had to guess, I bet that doing a tour when there's snow on the ground would bring more attractive views and scenery. 4. You're not allowed to bring your camera, but the process of purchasing photos is not very well-organized. When we got back to the office after the tour, none of the employees seemed to notice that our entire group was just standing around waiting for someone to give instructions on how to buy photos. After 10 minutes my boyfriend finally asked the person at the desk. Unless you're going to pay $60 for a CD with every single photo of your tour group, you have to stand at the computer while the person scrolls through 100s of randomly sorted photos and pick out the ones you want. It would be much more efficient if they posted them online so people could take the time to find the really good ones before paying $20 for 3 photos. On the upside, It was obvious that the guides were very careful about our safety. At all times, each zipliner was securely attached to a steel tether or on the zipline, so there was virtually no chance of falling. The guides were also very encouraging and sensitive to the fact that some people are nervous about being so high off the ground. Probably the most dangerous part of the experience was riding up the side of the mountain in Pinzgauers. I know these vehicles are supposed to be super well-equipped for all types of terrain and therefore safe--and they are definitely fun to ride in--but there were no functional seat belts for the passengers. Unlike Taryn Y, we didn't receive any confirmation emails or phone calls. So I guess that's something they're not terribly consistent about. As a side note, be sure to bring plenty of cash when you do the tour so that you can tip your tour guides as well as the driver who takes everyone out to the ziplining site. Most people in our group didn't realize they needed to tip the driver and left all their cash with the tour guides, which was very sad for the driver. read more

I have zip-lined in the past and have NEVER been told I cannot take my phone or camera with me. They prohibit you from taking these items and even threaten to end your zip-line tour if they catch you with a camera or phone. They say they have their own photographer but they fail to tell you before the tour that a CD of photos will cost $45!!! and if you only want a few photos they charge $5 per photo on a CD - they don't even print the photo for that charge! When I zip-lined in the past we took amazing photos and video from the zip-line. You get none of those from a photographer on the ground. read more

This is an amazing place! The staff is super friendly and fun and make the experience that more enjoyable. Our tour guides were both patient and made you feel comfortable about jumping down onto a rope at least 75 feet in the air. Our guides were John and Abe. Abe sent us down the zipline and had an amazing scent, and no matter how fast we flew down the zipline, John always managed to catch us. It also didn't hurt that they were both extremely good looking. I must admit I was a little nervous to go zip lining, but once I did the first one, the rest were a breeze. Number 8 & 9 were especially fun. Sparky took amazing photographs and we bought the whole flash drive. Debbie was our driver to and from the zip line site. She was super enthusiastic and had fun facts about the area. A big shout out to Jennifer and Bryan at the front desk for their exceptional customer service skills. Tips: wear yoga pants- not shorts. Buy ALL the photographs at the end. Take in the scenery as you go down the zipline Keep the straps on your legs loose- especially if you are a guy. It's comfier. Got half off through a groupon deal. Pros: -Office was easy to find. Parking available behind office. -Safety was a huge priority on the mountain. - 9 different zip lines with different emphasis (speed, length, not needing to brake,etc) -Riding in the Pinzgauer was awesome. -Clean, non port-a-potty bathrooms in the mountain with running water. Cons: -The vans that take you to the mountain were 25 min late. -No cameras allowed and the camera man they had did not know how to use a camera. A good half of the pictures were missing and the ones that were available were blurry. He was using a Canon DSLR with a 70-200 F4L. No excuse for not taking good pictures. -They wanted tips for both the drivers AND the tour guides. Overall I was satisfied at the price I paid. read more

The zipline tours are very well organized and fun. You can order your tickets online, and they send a confirmation email telling you where and when to meet and how to prepare. If they say the tour leaves at 9 am and gets back at 12 pm, then it leaves at 9 am and gets back at 12 pm. They use vans then some offroad vehicles to ferry everyone up to the mountain. All the harnesses, helmets and gloves are already laid out and ready. The guides do a quick orientation, then you're on your way. There are 9 total zip lines and they are increasingly longer and faster. The group moves through all nine efficiently - I never felt like I was waiting too long or getting bored. The guides are very courteous and helpful. Safety is a priority. When you zip into the platform, they immediately grab you. Before disconnecting you from the zipline, they hook you into the foundation. The bottom line is, you're always connected to something sturdy in case you lose your balance and fall. Also, they are very cautious about sending you on your way, and don't let go of you until they've given the go-ahead to depart. The only thing I didn't like was the photos set up. You're not allowed to take any cameras or cellphones. I'm fine with that as those things are distracting and could be easily lost. The company instead has one of the guides with a professional camera take plenty of action shots. Yes, they sell those - which I'm also fine with. But you have to sit in the office and make your choice right there. After three hours of the tour, I'm ready to go home - not look at pictures of everyone else ziplining. I'm sure there's a pretty easy way to post thumbnails online and allow people to order from the web site. $120 is a good value. Keep in mind you want the company to have enough money to keep its equipment and infrastructure current and safe, and I'm sure their insurance premiums are pricey as well. They need to use the vans and off-road vehicles to get customers up to the mountain. Additionally, you want well-trained and competent guides. You are expected to tip the guides $10 or so each, and there were 4-5 guides, so factor that expense in as well. read more

Love this place! My friend and I were walking by, saw they had zip-lining and decided to try it out. The girl who helped us out was very informative and patiently answered all of our questions about what the experience would entail. Pricing is really good for what you're getting: A 3 hour excursion including a safety video, a ride there, instructions, 9 zip-lines and a ride back. We were lucky to zip-line with a great group of people and I had so much fun. I am very afraid of heights but I managed to take a leap (literally) and get over it. It's absolutely beautiful where we were zip-lining, you're surrounded by green everywhere, beautiful trees.. it's very picturesque. Our instructors were very knowledgeable, sticklers for safety, patient and very, very, funny! They definitely contributed to the fantastic experience my friend and I had. They offer other tours as well and price discounts if you choose two tours. Two last things: 1. Wear a jacket (you can take it off if you get hot later on) because the ride up the mountain is very very cold. 2. Be sure to smile or strike a pose while you're zip-lining as they take pictures! My husband and I took the zip lining tour. I had been zip lining once before and this was his first time. Our guides were knowledgeable and fun to talk with. I loved the automatic breaking system and not having to worry about braking myself. The views were pretty and it was peaceful. One person took pictures of us which were available for purchase for $5 a picture or $45 for all of them. There is a bathroom before you begin and there are a few opportunities to have water. What a blast! Very friendly staff, fun ziplines, and great pictures to remember the event

We had a great time and this was a lot of fun. Their design is really cool how you work your way down a hill from tower to tower. The staff is great and the guides are excellent. Now, to the reason they did not get 5 stars. I was approached very aggressively by a rude woman who tried to grab my camera. She did not introduce herself, explain anything but simply said "I'll take that" as she came out from behind an umbrella and reached for my camera. I did not know who she was and said no. I gather now that she was the owner and dies not want you to take your camera so that you will buy your photos from them. I thought she was just a crazy person. That's fine, just make it clear during the brifing and explain yourself. DO NOT TRY TO GRAB SOEMTHING FROM YOUR CUSTOMER. IT WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND NEARLY RUINED OUR TRIP. The people in the operation are great except the owner. Just be aware of this camera issue. read more

My boyfriend and I were in Big Bear for his 40th birthday this past weekend and we did both the Segway and Zipline tours. Segway Pros- Our guide Chris was awesome. He was a fun guide and I enjoyed the tour around Big Bear Lake. He took some great pictures of us both on and off of the Segways. Safety was clearly stressed and a big priority. Cons- Although safety was stressed, I still got injured when my Segway tilted over going up an incline. It was my fault in that I did not properly dismount from the Segway when it started to tilt. I panicked. The Segway toppled on me, pinning me to the ground and badly bruising both of my legs, scraping my elbow. This being said, I never felt 100% confident on the Segways. This is not a passive experience, it is more on par with skateboarding or rollerblading. There is a high probability of falling when learning. We heard this from pretty much everyone we encountered in Big Bear, including staff at the zipline. It's not to say that you will have a major accident, but be prepared for the possibility of scrapes and bruises. I think that if I had more experience, my confidence level would have been fine. Two hours was not enough to ease the nerves. I think Action did the best they could to give us a great experience and minimize accidents. I was able to finish the tour and when we returned to the office, Chris gave me ice packs for my injuries. Zipline Pros- Fantastic tour guides, I never felt unsafe or that safety was not a priority. The guides were fun, but also really nice about not pushing me when I momentarily freaked out. They were supportive! There are nine ziplines and the excursion lasted nearly three hours, which felt like a great value for money. We liked that they had a professional photographer. It's located in a beautiful location. Cons- really only one- I wish that the pictures at the end of the tour had been better organized. It added about another half an hour of waiting around the Action office as we went through all of the tour pictures. It's probably cost prohibitive, but it would have been nice if we could have viewed the pictures on the ride back in the van and then been ready to purchase when we got back to the office. We almost didn't wait to see the pictures, because we wanted to head out to lunch! I'm glad that I did it, but Ziplining was far outside of my comfort zone. It wasn't the heights and I had trust in the equipment/guides...it was the speed and worrying about breaking. I was shaking after the first few lines and didn't get comfortable until the last two. We are very unlikely to do zipling again, but I am glad that I experienced it through Action. Good company and great guides. TIP- We were told to wear bright colors for pictures. We did this on both excursions and our pictures really looked great. read more

OMGGGG.....best thing I've done in awhile. Purchased their ziplining tour for $99, which included a CD full of pictures from our tour. Wow, can't even really put my experience down into words. As other yelpers stayed, it's a total of 9 track/runs, #4 and #6 being the fastest and #8 and #9, the longest. There's usually 2 guides per tour and they were definitely patient and encouraging the whole way through :) make sure you tip these hard working young gentlemans! Driving up to Big Bear, I was super anxious/nervous for this...but after the first run, your fear instantly melts away. Seems that braking was the trickiest part of this whole experience, if you can get that down...you're good. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a staycation adventure. It's not as high up off the ground as you think. All y'all afraid of heights, still give it a try :) They get booked on the weekends. Would recommend going on a weekday if you can, you get more attention while on the tour that way. read more
