The staff at Action Tours zip line are friendly, helpful, encouraging, and fun. The course consists of nine zip lines ranging in length and speed and one suspension bridge. Our group of six of women purchased the zip and sip option (zip lining and wine/beer tasting at Barrel 33). It was a perfect fun filled day. Zip lining through the forest was awesome!! Lesson 1: Call in advance to make reservations. Weekends are usually packed. Lesson 2: Don't wear FLIP FLOPS. Lesson 3: Laugh. Bought this deal on Groupon with a friend. Weekends were packed for the next month or so, so I asked for availability for July 4th. Deborah let us know that there was one spot available. Darn. I put my name on the waiting list and Deb suggested to call back daily to see if anybody dropped. My friend and I headed up in hopes of being able to zip line. This is a great company. I have taken the zip line tour once and the segway tour twice. The first segway tour was in Dec. when there was a lot of snow. It was a great tour, but be sure to bundle up! The second segway was in Aug. Same route, but so nice to see it in two different seasons! Tour guides are friendly, funny, safety minded, and polite. I was a bit worried about my mom, age 70, riding the segway, but she did great! Highly recommend to all!!! Prices are reasonable compared to other ziplines and segways. read more

Yesterday Pete took me, my husband, and our two teen boys snow shoeing. Pete was incredible. When we were locked out of our car, he offered to pick us up from our Best Western Hotel and took us 25 minutes up to where the snow shoeing was amazing. Pete was fantastic. He knew just where to go, the equipment that was needed and took us to the most ideal place to snow shoe. Our son had a Boy Scout requirement of snowshoeing 4 miles and Pete made sure to cover this. He was completely sensitive to our needs and took the time to show us what to do, where to step, and how to snow shoe, as we were all beginners. He also was fantastic company. We had our own private tour and Pete made it interesting. He is a fascinating person who lives in Rome 10 months out of the year and does walking tours there. I can't wait to join him on a walking tour in Rome. From start to finish, Action Tours was the best. Zach in the office answered all of my numerous questions and returned all of my calls in regards to whether there would be enough snow to snowshoe. Everyone was extremely kind, courteous, and professional. I would definitely showshoe with this company again and would love to do their zipline. What a hoot! My wife and I went Saturday and loved every minute. This is a very professional group that knows what they are doing when it comes to fun, experience and of coarse safety. You meet their office and watch a quick video, then jump in the van, meet your new friends and take a nice 25 minute drive up the mountain. Total blast!! We went on Sunday at 8am. The guides were great bunch of dudes very helpful and informative, they mixed just the right sense of playfulness and professionalism. You are extremely safe up on the towers they have you hooked in at all times. I do have a couple complaints and they have nothing to do with the actual tour. I got the Groupon deal and talked 7 other friends into getting it with me but when I called to book it a couple weeks in advance on a time that we could all go they said they only had 6 spots available and without exception they could not add 2 more people because of safety issues... ok... that is understandable. So we had to split up and 4 of us went on this occasion. Well when we got there there was 18 PEOPLE on our tour!! I was really ticked about that because it would have been a lot of fun with all 8 of us and we had been looking forward to that for a while... anyway moving on. With the grouponI paid $45 which was great... had I not got it it would have been $95... Ok well if I paid 95 dollars I would expect that I could take some pictures, but everyone was told to leave their cameras and cell phones at the place... which I have no problem with I know that that would be big safety risk if everyone was up there with their cameras trying to snap pictures.... Well to solve that they had a guy on the ground who takes pictures for the group. I though this was a great Idea because he had a nice camera with a nice lens. And after paying 95 dollars I would assume that these pictures would be included...so I asked and they said they were not. Ok I know this is a business and they need to make money... so how much could a CD with 200 pictures taken by an amateur photographer cost... well since CD cost a couple pennies I figured I would pay $20 bucks and get a nice CD with all the pictures of the day. This is where I was wrong.... One pictures was $10....ONE... 3 for $20.... and if I wanted the picture CD it was SIXTY $60 DOLLARS!!! Are you kidding me that is a total scam... you can't take you camera but we will take pictures for you... and charge you an arm and a leg. Luckly we were talking with another couple of people in the van ride back and turns out they lived really close to us so we had 6 people split the cost of the CD so it was $10 a person. I highly suggest doing this and the pictures really did turn out great. Also the office staff was cold and unfriendly and didn't really want to talk with any of us. The ziplines were a total BLAST and the tour guides were awesome which is why I give this 4 stars but just beware of the picture scam read more

Great customer services on and off the tour. I had a string of situations that came up, that made me postpone 4 times. No hassle or problems with rescheduling. They were always courteous and kind towards me. The tour guides and photog were super fun! We had a splendid day up in Big Bear. We look forward to going back up there soon. read more

We took the zipline tour in Oct. 2015. Sorry for the late review. I found the entire experience extremely professional and SAFE! You arrive at the office to check in. You watch a video for safety and they are driven by van out near Onyx Summit where the staff there greets you. You then get in an open air vehicle that takes you up to the zipline compound. The guides take you through the equipment, step by step, showing how you put it on and operate it. I was a little scared, but know that I need to push my comfort level. They get certified by the both the County of San Bernardino AND the State of California. The also put in brand new line every year. The first run I was nervous, but the more I did it, the more I liked it, and I totally trusted the guides. Also, the group I was with was really nice. None of us knew each other, but we were there supporting each other. Staff member Sparky took photos of us, available for purchase back at the office. We were there on a cool, crisp fall day. They operate during all four seasons, so it must be great in the snow! They don't operate in storms. i definitely will do this again sometime. They also offer snow shoeing tours, which i want to do sometime. read more

I cannot give this 10 stars or I would! I took my son and daughter on the ziplining tour and from beginning to end it was great. From the check in staff, to the driver who took us up to the zip lines to the tour guides at the zip lines, everyone was amazing. The ladies at check in were very sweet and professional. They even tried to help me find a place within walking distance to get iced coffee! Dave, the driver, was very personable and knowledgeable. He talked about sights along the road and gave insider information. Abe, one of the ziplining guides was great! Poor guy! I went zooming in and forgot to break, somehow he managed to stop me! When I apologized for almost knocking him out, he just laughed and told me not to worry about it. He was also good with the kids. Not everyone knows how to work with kids! My son was a bit upset at one point, but Abe calmed him down. Seth was HILARIOUS and took amazing pictures! I forgot the others' names but everyone was very friendly and helped my kids and I feel relaxed. They worked as a team and made everyone feel safe! At first, I was surprised about the cost, but once I saw how much went into it, I completely understood. Don't forget to buy the pictures at the end! They are amazing! Was so excited for my 1st experience of Zipline tour's, but was massively disappointed. 1st, too large a group with very long wait times. Less than 30 mins total of ziplining, but over 2 hours of waiting on a platform crammed with other people. Very abusive, rude and unprofessional staff members, rather than helpful or encouraging. They neither care about, nor respect their own customers comfort, fun experience, time and/or hard earned money. They screwed themselves out of a very large tip from me. I'm actually in the service industry. And am appalled and embarrassed by their behavior, lack of customer service and professionalism. Save your time and money and go elsewhere! Big Bear Lake has so many other fun and less expensive adventures, ran by very nice people, unlike this outfit! The manager Paula hasn't even bothered to call me back to address my issues and experience, which is not at all surprising. Worst $300 I've EVER spent! read more

Just wanted to say THANK YOU to Action Zipline for making my Birthday yesterday awesome! From start to finish, we had a great time! This was me first Zipline experience and will not be my last. :-) Everyone from the the lady at the front desk to the tour guides were fantastic!! I was very please that they take such good care of everyone to make sure that they have a fun and SAFE day. A couple people in our group we obviously nervous and they took their time in helping them get comfortable (never acting pushy or annoyed) until THEY were ready to give it a shot...and once they did, they were able to enjoy it with the rest of the group. I think there was like 15-16 of us in the tour group and it was a blast meeting and "hanging out" with such a fun and diverse group!! We ended up buying the full photo for $45 and it was well worth it! We have a ton of great shots of us!! A big THANK YOU again to the staff for helping make my birthday so much fun!!! read more

Thanks again Action Zipline Tours! What a great adventure, never done this before but have to say, now I'm hooked. These folks are professional, very organized and the Zipline rides were terrific! My wife called in twice to get the reservation, they emailed out the confirmation and we filled out the release/waiver forms (on-line PDF's) to save time in the office. Tip: If you can book the morning tour, the air is cooler and the scenery is in better light -- great for the photos they take. We were also very impressed with the attention and detail to SAFETY; never once felt concern about any of the lines or transfers. They have a routine to hook you up, send you down, land you and hook you right up to a safety line while going from platform to platform -- no problem. Highly recommended for any age -- our 16-member tour group had a 12-year old all the way up to a grandma in her 60's. Everyone did fine, just a lot of fun! And the time went by quick, everyone moved right along, but you never felt rushed. The tour is 9 Zipline runs and each one will build upon what you've learned, it was fun to experiment for sure. The longest run is about 700' and you hit about 40-45mph --- zzzzzzzip! read more

My family went on the zip lining tour. The guides were really great. I was quite nervous and not too steady at first and they were very patient and didn't make me feel dumb. The zip lining route in the mountains is beautiful and you get plenty of runs for your money! Let me explain why I gave this place 1 star. If you are thinking about taking your secret second girlfriend or boyfriend or mistress on this zipline tour, DON'T. Let me start from the beginning. I spoke with Nancy to do the booking. She was nice and helpful. I was actually excited to go on this zipline tour. When you get there, you have to sign waiver (perfectly understandable since it's for our safety and to cover their behinds). FYI: I am the type of person who reads every single word if I am putting my initials or signature next to it. After I gave the people behind the desk my waiver, I waited to watch the safety video. They have lockers where you can put your belongings and lock them up, so if you brought some stuff or any stuff, you will have to leave them behind (it's free of charge, which is nice). No, you cannot take anything that will hang out from your body because they do not want them falling out and having to retrieve them, and you don't want to lose your stuff either (no no on the phone). I was more than ok with all of them. We were taken to the site in a minivan and the driver was informative as we were driving up (the drive was about 15-20 minutes). The guys helping and zip lining with us are helpful, fun, and nice. They would tell you little to-do's and not-to-do's. If the weather is cold, make sure you wear warm clothes or layer up because if your group is big, you will have to stand on the platform and wait for everyone to get to the same platform, so it can get chilly standing there. We had a good time up there zip lining. The guys who are helping with the zip lining were great. If I were only rating my zip line experience, I would give you guys 5 stars. They informed us that Brad, the photographer, took about 9 pictures/person. I imagine we looked really silly in some of the pictures because can't control every part of your body when you are hanging from above the ground with just one rope. I imagine some of your skin would be showing in some of the pictures. When we got back, they show you all the pictures that were taken on the little screen, so everyone on that trip could take a look at them and see if anybody wanted to buy the pictures. I always buy pictures that were taken on my trips, so I was already going to buy the pictures. I asked the blonde hair girl, I would like to buy the pictures and she asked me if I wanted to the whole CD or individual pictures. I was kind of confused, so she said that if I buy the CD, I get every picture they took during my tour. I said ok, so that means that other people in my tour group would have my pictures too and she said yes. At that time, another group left the building already and everyone else from my group was still watching the pictures on the screen, and she was only helping another person with the CD. I told her that I was not told that my pictures would be given to everyone else, I did not see anything that says that on the waiver form that my pictures (some weird, some funny, some my butt is sticking out) would be distributed to strangers. I requested that I would like my pictures taken out from that group when they are given to someone else but I would be buying all my pictures. Her response was "We are not going to go through all the pictures and take out your pictures. Besides everyone is going to just delete other people's pictures" She doesn't know that for sure. Seriously that was her response? Most people would not care about this, but I DO! I am a private person and I do this because there are so many creeps out there, so just trying to be very cautious and safe. I did buy the CD, this way if any of my pictures from the CD got distributed somewhere down the line, I have some proof of the source who did this. It would not have taken her that long to delete a few pictures instead of responding to me with an attitude. I was going to ask until they delete my pictures so, but I went with other people and they were hungry already, so wasn't going to be inconsiderate, so I had to leave. Had I known or read that my pictures (good or bad) would be distributed to every single person on the tour, I would have simply asked the photographer not to take my pictures (as easy as that, but they don't give you that info ahead of time). I love going on vacations (long or short) well..who doesn't? What I don't like is businesses not accommodating the customers and giving away other people's pictures despite the fact that the customer is requesting not to do so. The zip lining place in Orlando not only gave you your own pictures, but also a video of you zip lining without anybody else in them. So there I warned you. If you want to go on the tour, keep in mind that this place will distribute your pictures with or without your permission without letting you know ahead of time. read more

I bought the Segway/Ziplining combo, and I have to say right up front that I have a deep seeded fear from childhood of falling from high places and not being in control. I can't go on roller coasters. As a dare to myself, I was going to zipline anyway, even when my sister voiced concern about me doing it alone. As it turns out, I wasn't alone (they do everything in large groups), but more on that later. The Segway tour appealed to the geek in me, and once we got past the initial training, it was hoverboard technology all the way. Seriously, all it takes is for your brain to lock in, and your legs merely become pedestals for you to stand on. Our tour guide was amazing; Not only did he get us up and running right away, he challenged us on some off-road terrain and hills, took us all over this particular area of Big Bear, gave us some history, and shared his fascination with nature (we saw an eagle's nest!) and the locals. It was contagious. It was really a personal tour of this area and not a scripted dialogue. Walking again made me miss using the Segway to get around. Only an hour after the Segway tour ended I was in another Action storefront down the road, getting ready for the ziplining tour. Mixed feelings of dread, excitement, nervousness, and anxiety were slam dancing in my stomach as I walked in ("It's not too late to back out, is it?"). My group was comprised of about ten 6-10 year old girls, two moms watching over them, and four other guys about my age. After a brief video about hand signals, we all piled into vans that took us on a half hour drive to the location where we switched to special off road vehicles. They took us up to the top, where we were fitted with harnesses, helmets, and gloves. I was REALLY nervous. They taught us what to do (which of course some of us instinctively ignored), and put us on a short line to the first platform. After that and crossing the suspension bridge, it was a test of trust, and once you let go and let the equipment do its work, the feeling is a total rush and complete joy. For me, it was overcoming a childhood fear of falling, at least in this aspect. The nerves didn't completely go away, but that was part of the excitement. I really felt like a major milestone had been overcome, thanks to all of the tour guides who encouraged the whole group and gave us tips the entire time. It was the best day that I've had in a long time. Great staff, great photography, intuitive tour guides, and all of the equipment was top notch. read more

What a rip off. You can go to Lake Tahoe in Tahoe City and go zipling for FOUR hours for $45!!! AND they allow you to bring your camera or phone to take video's and pics. I know that these are on opposite sides of the state but at least TRY and be competitive with pricing. $120 is a complete rip off then you charge for pictures as well!! read more

My son and I went zip-lining for the first time here last week and while the actual zip lining was fun the experience itself was lacking. The guides were friendly and very helpful however our group was quite large (15+) so much of our time was spent waiting to go vs actually zip-lining. It was advertised as a 3 hour tour but between the ride to and from the location, the waiting - our group was so large we were literally packed onto the platform with zero room to spare every other line. And then at the end after our last zip-line our group was told to hang back while the guides left to do something (I think to return the gear) and that they'd be back in 5 minutes. (They ALL left us unattended for closer to 1/2 an hour. That was pretty surprising to me. So there we were, left at the location just to sit an wait to be driven back to the main office.) We spent a very small amount of time on the zip-lines compared to everything else. So while we were waiting as a group we chatted about the pictures we would be able to check out once we got to the office and although we were bummed our own cameras/phones weren't allowed we were looking forward to viewing the pictures - the prices were roughly $5 a pic and I know many of us planned on purchasing some. That was a bigger let down than the large group and wasted waiting time as the camera man forgot to leave the memory card and was back up the hill with the next group. They actually told us we could wait or come back when that group was done. Don't forget the tours are 3 hours so we weren't happy about that as my son had to work in Riverside later so we couldn't wait...not that we'd really want to wait that long. When I said we had to leave they suggested we come back - we don't live local so that wasn't an option. So then it was suggested we just buy the package and they'd mail it to us - but they 'couldn't pick and choose' so it'd be best to buy them all. That's absolutely ridiculous. So while the actual zip-lining was a neat experience, the guys (guides) were friendly and helpful. I wouldn't recommend using this company. We spent over $200 for a small about of actual zip-lining, a whole lot of waiting, being left alone at the end of the tour before we got a ride back to the office and no pictures to bring home. read more

The guys working the actual lines are wonderful and very helpful. They help you understand there is nothing to be nervous about, it's completely safe and easy to do. The down side was the wait. They worked our party of 2 into a group of 16. It was such a wait between lines. When one person doesn't want to go for fear, it holds up the entire group. We booked our session at 9 and received a call that we were the only people in the group so they moved us to 11. 11 is tough because the tour is 3 hours and we got hungry and did not get back till 2. They don't allow you to take anything. When you get back to the office, they make you sit through 80+ pictures to find yours so you can order them. Overall it was a nice thing to do once, but that's it for us. The office was kinda rude and it's pricey. read more

My husband wanted to celebrate his 60th with all the kids and grandkids by ziplining. This place was great. From start to finish. The reservation people, the drivers, the zipline guys. Very considerate to everyone's needs and were so wonderful. We've never been ziplining before so they made our first time so much fun. Definitely will do it again. Great experience from beginning to end! The drivers that take you to and from the location are super knowledgeable and friendly! The actual ziplining had such beautiful scenery and it was fun! The tour guides were light hearted funny people. I will say they are jokesters if you can't handle sarcasm very well you may not enjoy it as much. At the end of the tour you can see photos taken by Action Zipline. Most aren't very good shots so probably not worth buying all of them for $45 and you do have to sit through everybody's photos to write down the # you want but if you find 2 decent ones it's $10. We had a smaller group which made the experience better, only having to wait for 8 people on each line. I highly suggest researching and going on a not so busy time in big bear. We went for the 11am. Sat week after Martin Luther King. The 1 pm definitely had a bigger group. There are buckets to tip your tour guides at the meeting location and through your tour if you want. Also, they have free lockers for your belongings since you can't really take much with you not even your phones! Bundle up as your in higher altitudes! One last suggestion if it's possible get the groupon $99 including all the pictures just read the fine print I believe it excludes sat. They were nice enough to let me put the money towards the full amount since I missed that part. read more

We did the zipline tour, and it was great!! A bit nervous at first, but the guides make it a great experience. This is my first time ziplining really, and I was comfortable enough to try spinning by the 6th or 7th line. They drive you to and from the zipline site, give you all the gear needed, and take pictures for you. Pictures are $5 each, but there are some pretty good pictures if you pose :) . We went on a weekday and there were only 5 people total, so the tour was pretty quick. ~20 min drive each way, the rest of the time was ziplining for about 2 hours total for the tour. Since we had a smaller group, there was less waiting for the lines to clear up, and so we finished the tour early. Overall, friendly staff, great guides, awesome experience, I recommend! read more

Unfortunately, I did not get to experience the "Action," although, not for lack of trying. I've stayed at Big Bear twice in the last year, for a total of 6 days, and not once has Action Zipline Tours been able to accommodate me. Last year, I made a reservation with them a couple months in advance in anticipation of my vacation to big bear. I got a phone call once I had already arrived where they told me that the other couple had cancelled their tour, so they had to cancel mine. Apparently they are very strict about their 4 person minimum for the tour. They told me to come back the next day. This time, when I arrived at the office, they said that a news van had gotten stuck in the road up to the start location, so they had to postpone again. The next day I came back, despite telling them that I was only here for 4 days and that they had cancelled my trip twice already, they said that due to the 4 person minimum, they wouldn't have any trips. Then, just this week, I took another vacation to big bear, hoping that I would be able to go on the zipline tour. I called them 3 weeks ago to reserve the tour. They told me that they didn't have 4 people going during my 3 day stay, but that they would call me if anyone else was going. Turns out, once I got to big bear. The first day of my vacation had actually sold out and they hadn't called me. I called again and left my number. I called back the next day, had to leave my number again because they didn't know who I was. I called the next day, and found out another group was trying to go, but they sent them away too because of the 4 person minimum. If you are going to be super strict about your minimum, you have to have a better system for grouping people together. I called a number of times, and there were clearly times that I could have gotten in, but due to their inability to keep the groups organized, I didn't get to go at all. I'm a little upset. Awesome Segway tour with Ducky as our guide! A few of us were nervous about operating the segways, but Ducky made sure we were all comfortable before beginning the tour. The tour itself is a beautiful scenic route through the village, residential areas, and down to the lakeside. Ducky shared tons of info about the history of Big Bear and was an all around fun guide. I highly recommend this tour if you want to see a little bit of everything Big Bear has to offer! read more

This is kind of embarrassing. The straps of the harness in the crotch area were so painful, I had to stop early (at 7 out of 9 lines). I've gone ziplining before in Hawaii and didn't have this problem. I tried adjusting the straps out of desperation after each run, but I could not figure it out. I felt like I was getting sliced up. A few people had a similar issue (men and women), but the majority of the group seemed to be fine. Also ... there is a loose small bench thing that you land on as you approach the platform. If you are standing next to it, watch out because it's not anchored. I got hit by a metal corner of it on my knee when someone knocked it off its base. The day was gorgeous, the sound of the wind through the trees was soothing, and the guides were very friendly and helpful - I SO want to give a better review!! read more

We did Zip Lining and it was a fun experience! Staff is super friendly and parking is available. Once you are out zip lining you do not feel time pass by. You cannot take personal items because they may fall while in the air so they offer free lockers at the office building. However, they do not accept American Express which meant I had to pay for my cousin which was perfectly fine. I am just mentioning that incase you decide to pay with a credit card. Also, when we are back from the mountains we get to see ALL the pictures on a TV slide presentation which felt like forever. read more

They helped everyone get comfortable with the equipment, and were patient while we got used to braking. The guides helped my youngest (13) daughter get over her nervousness about jumping off the first few times. No one felt rushed. The guides even did tricks! Thanks to Groupon, I was able to try this fun activity. At first I was scared to zipline, but once I got to the actual place, I wasn't as scared. The employees were all nice and helpful.
