I had a deeply disturbing experience at Action Towing. This incident occurred on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at approximately 3:00 PM. I was waiting in my car while my husband was inside Action Towing picking up parts. A female employee approached me and told me to move my vehicle. I immediately responded politely, "Yes, I will move my car, thank you," and began positioning myself to leave. Rather than allowing me the opportunity to comply, she continued to escalate the situation. She called me deaf and blind, repeatedly threatened to tow my vehicle, and then told me, "You said you would move your car and now you're still here. It's a lack of integrity." At that point, I had already acknowledged her request and made it clear that I would move. I was not refusing to leave, arguing, or creating a problem. I was simply trying to get situated so I could move my vehicle safely. What was most upsetting was not being asked to move, that was her job. It was the unnecessary hostility, personal insults, and threatening behavior that followed after I had already agreed to comply. Her demeanor was intimidating, confrontational, and completely unprofessional. I remained calm throughout the interaction, and unfortunately it felt as though my calm and respectful approach only encouraged her to continue speaking to me in a way that I found bullying and demeaning. When I asked for her name so I could report the incident, she refused to provide it. I also asked for her manager's name, and she refused to provide that as well. I have never been spoken to this way by an employee of any business. There is no excuse for calling a customer deaf, blind, or accusing them of lacking integrity when that customer is already cooperating. Employees represent a company, and this type of conduct reflects very poorly on Action Towing. Management should have no difficulty identifying the employee involved based on the date and time above. I sincerely hope no one else has to experience this type of treatment. read more

Our car battery was dead, and needed to either have the battery charged or replaced. Received a call from Oscar who was able to come out quickly to take care of our car. Real friendly guy who answered all of our questions and explained why we needed to get our battery replaced. Fortunately for us the dead battery was still under warranty and we were able to get a free replacement. Being greeted by a friendly person who wants to help is ALWAYS welcomed. HORRIBLE experience -- careless damage, expired insurance, lies, and no accountability. I used Action Towing and it was a nightmare from the moment Alfredo arrived. When dropping off my car, he removed the straps, tilted the bed without securing the front, and let my car roll off and crash into another vehicle. He didn't hook up the winch, didn't use the e-brake correctly, and there was slippery fluid on the bed. It was completely unsafe and reckless. After the damage, Alfredo casually shrugged it off, didn't apologize, I said I was gonna call the police and he told me the police wouldn't show up anyway. He even tried to convince me not to call them and refused to leave a note on the car he hit. Completely unprofessional and shady behavior. It gets worse -- **they were operating with expired insurance. Yes, EXPIRED. I had to do all the legwork, chase them down for weeks, and involve AAA to even get a response. Tony, the so-called manager, promised to "make it right," then ghosted me, dodged calls, and left me hanging. I've spent weeks dealing with this mess. Action Towing showed zero responsibility, no customer service, and downright shady practices. This whole thing could've been avoided if their drivers knew what they were doing and if the company operated legitimately. Watching how Alfredo mishandled my car and avoided taking responsibility, I can't help but question whether he's even properly licensed. STAY AWAY from Action Towing. I would like to say this company is terrible there driver or dispatcher lied on the report stating there was lumber on my truck when there have never and I mean never been lumber on the truck. My husband is disabled with a broken back and can not lift any more than 5-10lbs. I called and asked for it to be fixed and was denied. Was advised they can not fix the report. I said ur employee lied so ur promoting lieing. How can a company work if employees lie. Why is it okay to lie. All I asked was for the employee to tell the truth is that so so bad. read more

I can't say enough good things about this service and Fred (my technician - what a gem). My battery drained in my car (and sat) for so long, I needed to buy a new battery. Update #2: The owner of the company worked really hard to get to the bottom of my situation. I am updating my review/rating to reflect their actions after they reached out to me to get more info about what happened. They were genuinely sorry for what happened, and I believe them. The driver has been disciplined, and as a company, made sure that none of their drivers work with the auto body repair shop that held my car. Thank you to the family/owners who made it a priority to try to ensure this doesn't happen again to anyone else. ---------------- Update #1: the company as a whole seems reputable (police called them for initial tow). However, it seems I was taken advantage of by a lone driver at this company because I didn't know my rights. If you are being towed after hours, they should tow your vehicle to the tow company's yard, where they will store your car until your insurance can assess the situation. Unless you have a place in mind that you know of, do not let them tow it anywhere. It seems the place he took my car to was a scam ring. I was scammed and they wouldn't let us have our car without paying cash for 4 days of storage + tow. We had to get the police involved to mediate the situation. Writing a separate review of the place that held my car hostage. Please be careful out there. One star is for the driver who scammed me, would prefer to give a big fat zero. -------------------- I have mixed feelings about writing this, and will happily update once I figure out what is going on. I had an accident and the police called this towing company. He was nice, set up the tow and even offered to wait for my ride. What got weird is he gave me the business card of the place it got towed to. The next day, when my insurance tried to pick up the car, they couldn't find it. I gave the number to them from the business card, and it the wrong location, didn't match where he said he would tow. Giving the benefit of the doubt, the insurance company called Action Towing who confirmed that my car was towed a different location, which didn't match the business card I was given. It's been three days. And the place that they towed the car to will not release my car. I am burning through my limited rental from the insurance company. One of the repair shops we called mentioned that sometimes the tow company will tow it to a "friends" shop and hold the vehicle and try to get you to let them fix it, they promise to do it cheaper or give some deal. I get the feeling this might be happening because the owner of the shop is conveniently out of the country for a whole week. His "mom" is answering calls, and is "trying" to get a hold of her son. We can see them moving the car from parking lot to parking lot, So someone at the shop knows about the car. But no one answering the phone is giving us any answers. Or they won't answer the call. Again, I I don't know if this is a scam. But this does not feel right. Please follow up or go with the tow company to make sure you know where your car is going. This review is belated from last Wednesday due to other priorities. I needed my vehicle transported to the dealership due to a check engine light issue. I called ~4:30pm and was told approx 90 minutes due to high demand. However, I received update reports on availability and finally after 2 hours a flatbed carrier arrived. What impressed me was the pleasant attitude and speed at which the driver (name: Pablo) completed the task of loading my vehicle and delivering to the service center. My car battery died and sent out a service request for help through AAA. The original ETA was 45 min but they got there within 30 min. Jose was incredibly helpful and nice to work with. He ran diagnostics and showed me the report as it happened. I was given the option of jumping the car or he is a 'one stop shop' where he could put in a new battery for me. Hell yah! He replaced my battery and took the old one for $221. It has a 3 year warranty through AAA so if anything happens they will change it out for free. I may have paid more than taking it into a shop but it's worth every penny for the convenience. Plus, Jose was so awesome that I felt very comfortable with him taking over. Another rave review for Action! Last week, in the crowded Home Depot parking lot, my car refused to start. (We later determined it needed a new starter--at 98,000 miles, these things tend to happen.) I called AAA, and they sent Action. Walter arrived, was incredibly friendly, and quickly assessed the challenge of getting my car onto his tow truck... essentially at a 90 degree angle in a cramped, busy lot. Without going into a lot of detail, he made that happen. He had to physically push my very heavy car onto his truck before its mechanism could pull it onboard (yes, another guy helped, which was great). Calm, cool Walter then towed my car to my nearby local mechanic (Holland Auto, another five-star business). He's worked with Holland before and knew where to unload my car. Walter is a take-charge kind of guy with calming powers. His smile is worth a million bucks. Can't recommend Action highly enough! read more

I started my morning rough when I noticed my battery died at the supermarket right before go to work. So I contact right away AAA and they said help will arrived in 5 minutes. I wasn't very sure about it but for my surprised actually arrive very fast. "Doc" was the person who was helping me. Very fast check my battery and informed me that my battery was dead completely and that I need a new one but because I was having a AAA battery still under warranty he was able to remplace in no time for a new one. Call was placed by Tesla for me, about 30 mins later I got a call from Action with some lady telling me "they do not have any battery people today and have to reschedule for tomorrow morning". At the same time I kept getting messages from Tesla stating tow truck is on the way. Anthony is the best! I ran over the pot hole by Hillsdale exit on HWY 101 and omg blew out 3, not 1 but THREE of my tires. It was such a WTF moment, so I called AAA roadside assistance and within 5 minutes, I got a call from Anthony saying he was on his way and within 20 minutes, he arrived. He told me he was coming from the Bay Bridge to me and got there at the time he said he would, especially since it was near traffic time, I didn't expect him to get there that fast, but he did. Such a gentleman and made sure we felt safe, as we were RIGHT next to the freeway with every speeder possible passing us by shaking the whole car. Highly recommend Anthony! Oh my gosh, what could have been a very stressful night for me turned out to be a dream! After finishing work around 6:15 pm in South San Francisco, I came out to my car and realized, to my dismay, that my car would not start. I was not even getting the ignition to turn so I was afraid that I was experiencing a more serious issue. I called AAA and they were quick to dispatch Action Towing to help me. Initially, I was quoted a one-hour wait, but Action Towing arrived in about 20 minutes! Tim greeted me with a smile and asked me how he could help. I described my issue to him and, before he set me up with a tow, he offered to try jump-starting my car to see if that would do the trick. He was right (my starter was not the issue) and all I needed was a new battery. No show x 3. Called at 8am for a car that wouldn't start, which was parked 15 minutes from our home. Told that they'd be there in 90 minutes & would text 15 minutes ahead (so we could get there in time to meet them). Tow truck called back at 8:07am exasperated that we weren't there. Agreed to wait for us. Got there asap to meet them; they left and told us to start the process over again. We did & were told someone would be there in 45 min. Spent about 30 minutes on the phone trying to reach someone, then told to try again at 11am. No show again; we left after waiting around 15 minutes. Cancelled service. Did they bill us for the service that was never provided after 3 tries? IDK. Maybe they should be more honest about whether they can serve you or not before collecting your credit card info. =( read more

BE AWARE: They will charge you from port to port, meaning the hour rate starts when the driver leaves their lot to when the driver goes back to the lot. They specifically told me $180 for the tow when it's actually $180/hour. Also the total amount should be confirmed with the customer when they sign your tablet at service completion. A lot of your complaints are due to miscommunication. read more

My story did not start well, but goddamnit it ended great. I was driving down the freeway and my truck started to stutter, I made it off the freeway and as soon as I turned onto the main street it died. Luckily I was parked safely on the side of the street in the city of Millbrae. Of course, I called Geico my insurance company, because towing is covered. When they contact me, I was told the tow truck driver was on a call and in Pleasanton. I asked them if they knew where Millbrae was and he said yes we do. And then told him it's 3 o'clock commute time and you want to send a guy from Pleasanton to Millbrae. He responded with, he'll be there in about an hour and a half. I told the guy I didn't nearest tow and I hung up. I found Bob's towing first and he told me his guys were too busy at the moment, but to call Action Towing. I contacted action towing, was connected with a really nice lady and we even joked about the tow truck driver from my insurance, being in Pleasanton and coming to Millbrae. Hurly/Harly, not sure how to spell his nam, showed up and hooked the truck up. The man is quick, professional, friendly and we had a great conversation and joked all the way to my Auto Shop. Thank you big dude, you're the man. Since my insurance covers towing, I paid out-of-pocket, got taken to my destination within an hour and now I am going to email my receipt to my insurance and get reimbursed. At least for me, it was worth paying out-of-pocket, because it was hot and I did not want to be sitting on the side of the road, considering I got off work early. This has been the ultimate worst experience I have ever had in my life for customer service, especially for towing. I would 100% NOT RECOMMEND you to use Action Towing for any purpose, especially for towing a trailer. Explanation is long but gives an accurate description of how horrible of a job they have with customer service. I called to get my trailer towed from San Francisco to Morgan Hill (76 miles, about 1.5 hours) on a Sunday morning because my truck engine decided to break down while I was down in Southern California. Needless to say, I couldn't get the truck back up to NorCal and then tow it to our new trailer park location this weekend. I called their number and spoke with a woman who told me it was $250 an hour for service and I figured, okay that would be about $500 max if they charged for full hours. However, this was NOT the case at all. She "supposedly" said that they charge port to port, which means from their garage and back. Keep in mind, I have never had to tow my trailer with a service before, so naturally I wouldn't know what that meant even if she actually did say it. I have never had a towing company ever charge me port to port for a tow but rather just from the pickup location to the destination. I had informed her this was my first time and still she didn't explain anything at all, almost as if she knew this would be the case and just wanted to screw me over and make more money. She could have easily given me a quick estimate because it's pretty easy to give an estimate on how long it would take to get to our park, to the new park, and back to their garage, especially with the technology we have, but she did NO SUCH THING. She kept things super vague and just told me the hourly rate, nothing else. To top it off, when I called at 10:16 am she said that she had a driver available immediately and made things seem as if the driver would be there within the hour (which should have happened because they were 23.4 miles/ 26 minutes away from SF RV Resort), mainly because I had to check out from our spot this morning at 11 am. Once again that was not the case and the driver didn't not even leave their shop until 11:15 am, a full hour after the call. I had called several times and even texted asking for when the driver was going to get there and was told at 11:36 am that the driver would by there in 15 minutes, however he didn't arrive for another full 24 minutes later at 12:15 pm (1 minute shy of 2 hours from my phone call). Because if this, the driver did not get to our site until after 12 pm, I got charged a whole other night $156. Not to mention when the driver actually got there he took his sweet time hooking up the rig, even though my husband had gotten everything ready for him and offered to help to speed things up, to which he refused (probably because he wanted to go slow because they get $250/hr.) So, all in all I had to pay the following: $156 for another night because the driver was later than 12 pm $960 for a tow that only lasted a max of 1.5 hours A whopping $1,116 because of this companies clear incompetent abilities and poor ability to be clear with cost estimates. When I called to ask why it was $960 instead of the initial $500 max I was expecting, the woman gave me so much attitude, got defensive, was disrespectful, claimed she said port to port when, and pretty much just blamed it all back on me for not being clear enough, even though I was very clear and she was the one who was not. I absolutely hated my interaction with this company and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE unless you want to pay more than what the service is worth and enjoy being lied to about times of delivery. read more

The driver who showed up for AAA asked where we wanted car towed and we directed him to a body shop and NOT the tow yard, even though he tried to act as if he was going us a favor by taking it to the tow yard before it could be evaluated. He also refused to allow my husband ride along in the truck. I called the body shop a couple of days later to find out where my car was and they didn't have it...guess where it was? Action Towing. They stole my vehicle and then demanded $800 in impound fees to release it. Luckily my insurance covered it, but who knows how many other customers they are doing this to.
