Hopefully if you're ever in an accident you don't have to deal with this company, they charged almost 500 dollars to tow bike, less then 10 minutes from the accident scene to home, said it took 90 minutes since they "charge" the minute a cop calls for a tow. This is robbery. There's no way it takes that long, and because they messed not showing up with a flare bed, it's in you to pay for there time and mistakes. Well, we've seen everything - angels now drive tow trucks!! We were hearing suspicious engine noises on our family vacation in the SLO area so began thinking of several possible ways to get us and our car home including train, rental car, bus, flying, using our AAA limited tow, RV, and just pitching a tent for a week while our car got repaired locally. Thankfully Red Line picked up our call and made quick arrangements to not only bring our family member's spare car to use, but of course to tow our SUV back to our Bay Area mechanic safely. The owner, Anthony, provided several solutions for us and was very communicative along the way, and most importantly arrived earlier than expected so we could continue enjoying our vacation time. He was actually so quick to unload and load the tow bed that I didn't even get to say thank you in person (our toddler enjoyed watching too much from the hotel window). I was in car accident and unfortunately had experience with Red Line Towing. Their worker did everything very slowly. After he pulled the car from the intersection and got out of the car and talked with road workers for about 15 minutes. I had to rush him. Naturally, the rate was hourly - 260$ per hour!! They towed my car for 3 miles to the nearest body shop. I called their company 1 week after the accident and they said that the price will be 160$ for exactly this kind of service. I paid 260$ for 3 miles, WOW! I was shocked after the accident and they took advantage of this situation and took twice as much and did all things very slowly. Got my car impounded today. My fault, yes. DMV and police were a breeze. This place, not so much. Beware. The dispatcher is... Unprofessional. Snotty. Sarcastic. Kind of amusing reactions from her too, in a sick way. Heaven forbid you ask her a simple question. First call: it'll be 15 minutes Second call: it'll be 10 more minutes Third call: it's going to be another 20 minutes I question where the driver is, so I can get a gist of how long I'll actually be waiting. She says she wouldn't tell me even if she has a GPS and hung up on us at least twice. I can totally see her reading this review and laughing at it. Lady, this isn't funny. You aren't a nice person. You seem miserable and its pretty sad. Take that attitude out of the service industry and go work where you don't have to deal with people. Or animals. Today, I decided to eat lunch in my car (and charge my phone at the same time - doh!) and when I went to start the car, it just made a clicking sound. I noticed a Red Line Towing truck parked near me and I crossed my fingers that I had enough cash in my pocket to request a jump. I knew calling for road side assistance would just be a hassle and delay me, so I was willing to pay to skip that whole ordeal. I spotted Anthony and Cole returning to their vehicle, lunch in hand, and I asked if they had jumper cables and could help me. They were so kind and jumped my car in such a jiffy! AT NO CHARGE! I am so thankful that 1) we have the same great taste in deli's so we were in the same location and 2) that they were willing to help me on their lunch break at no cost. It's never a good experience to have your car breakdown and be stranded on the side of the road. But its good to know that Red Line is there to help you back on your feet. I used Red Line twice in the past two months and both experience have been great. My v-belt ripped apart, clutch fan stopped and the car started overheating. I had Red Line on my cell (you should too) and Anthony showed up promptly to take my baby to the mechanic shop. Anthony is easy to work with, quick to respond and professional. They requested a copy of my release of liabilty becuase the owner of the bike i sold did not pay registration.and got towed. I told them dmv has records get it from them and they said i have to send them a copy for records i dont have anymore. I spent half a day with dmv trying to fill out the form correctly becuase it has nothing to indicate get a copy of release liabilty i submitted more than a year ago. , as well as speaking with dmv operator who wouldnt tell me who its name is under. This is after giving my name and info -the seller, and giving the name of the buyer. My Honda CRV had about 200,000 miles on it, and some of the coolant hoses started to crack. My coolant leaked while I was on my way home during the weekday and overheated. I got the car home but had a busy work week so I got a ride to work with a friend. AAA wouldn't pick up my car and bring it to the mechanic if I wasn't there. We needed some help transporting an extremely heavy fork lift from Redwood City to San Jose for a job we were doing there, and we needed a solution at the last minute. The folks at Red Line scheduled a flatbed pickup for the very next day! They showed up exactly on time, loaded the forklift quickly and securely, and we were done with our job and back at my shop in about half the time I was expecting it would take. Their pricing was right what we expected, plus, we saved so much in our own time and labor costs that it was a net positive all the way around. Needed a tow and for a relatively decent price, last minute. The dispatch ladies were friendly, helpful and easily gave me a quote. They told me it'd be about 30 minutes until the driver arrived. I got a call from the driver, Cole, about 5 minutes after the call and he said it'd be about 10-15 minutes. When he arrived, he was very friendly, got the car up on the flat bed and ready to go pretty quick. Followed him to the drop off location and took care of business. A tale of two experiences for me. I don't think it's fair to comment on the business practices of tow places because, well, you are at their mercy and they have to make money too. I am mostly writing this review because I received pretty good service - for the most part. I had one specific bad experience that I felt I needed to write this review about. I was hit, my car was totaled, and I ended up in the ER. When I was discharged and began the arduous and stressful process of figuring the whole thing out, I called Red Line a total of three times and received good service the first time, from one female and one male, who I was transferred to and who seemed to know more about how title transfers work. Then I called back and this time, another female, was incredibly rude. I always try really hard to be nice but received conflicting information from the insurance and just wanted to clarify something. She proceeded to interrupt me to state that she wasn't trying to be rude at all but she had four other calls on hold and could I hurry this up. In the time it took her to say that, I could have already asked my last question and gotten off the phone. I then hung up because I was upset and called back with the insurance claims agent, who got through and asked the question I could have asked the first time. She was adequate on this third call. The guys on-site were also very nice as well. Please make sure to figure out who the female I am speaking about is. She made a stressful situation worse for no reason. read more

THIS IS A SCAM OPERATION!!!!!!!!!! These guys have a dubious deal with the San Mateo or San Carlos authorities. They towed my car (a 1997 Mercedes with ~200K+ miles in my daughter's possession), they demanded a Title (i was traveling on business and had to order a Title copy). I got no calls or notifications of the process. They sold my car (Lien company only sent a letter). They then referred a bill for $3,448 to a collections agency (incl. $258 for towing). They reported they made no money selling my car (it was damaged but had material and parts). They are charging ~$80 per DAY when auto storage in Redwood City is ~$110 per MONTH. Civic authorities are probably earning some money from this as well so it shouldn't be a surprise that they perhaps feel this is fair. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND THIS SCAM THEY ARE RUNNING. read more

I was in a car accident on El Camino Real in San Mateo, and called Red Line right away and told them my car was blocking traffic in an intersection and needed to be towed ASAP. I was put on hold for a few minutes, and so I hung up and called back to make sure my call wasn't dropped. The dispatcher transferred me to the other dispatcher, who put me on hold again. Later, she said my phone call kept getting pushed to the bottom of the cue and that I should stop hanging up and calling back (I only did that once, but apparently I ended up at the bottom a number of times). The woman on the phone asked me where I wanted to tow the car, and I asked her where wrecked cars should go (I'm not in the habit of getting in car accidents, so I don't know), and she said she couldn't tell me and that was my decision. Not knowing what to do, I asked her and she said I could ask the truck driver, and put me on hold again. After a few more minutes, she said she couldn't give me a quote because she needed a place to tow the car. I asked what people normally do in this situation and she said the police calls it in, and so I asked why can't they do whatever the police typically do, and she said if we wanted it towed that way, I need to cancel the tow and have the police call it in. Thinking they could figure it out, I was put on hold again for a few more minutes, but after being on the phone with them (mostly on hold) for TWENTY MINUTES total, I hung up and called them back and said cancel it, and had the police call it in. This whole time, my car was blocking the intersection and I was not getting anywhere with Red Line. A different tow company soon showed up to tow my car, without giving me the runaround. One star, terrible. Get it together! read more

We needed a flat bed tow truck to move my husband's tool box (1000+ lbs) from where he used to work to his new job (he's an automotive technician). We had initially called Quality Towing, but they NEVER showed up after 2 1/2 hrs even though we made several phone calls checking on the status of the driver. We ended up calling Red Line and they had a tow there in 5 minutes, just as they promised. It took the guy awhile to get the tool box on the flat bed and strapped down, but he handled the tool box with great care and we were glad that he cared to strap it down thoroughly (better safe than sorry!). The price was a bit more expensive than what we expected ($350 from San Mateo to Palo Alto), but the service was well worth it. read more

My car broke down on the 101 Northbound at around 10:30pm on a Monday night and these guys sent a truck out to my location in under 25 minutes! I was in a tricky spot right off the 92 ramp and he was able to find me no problem, dolly my car up (wouldnt go neutral so had to be dollied) and had me taken care of from call-to-service center in under 45 minutes!
