Geico dispatched Atlas to jump start my car. I don't know the name of the person they sent but he was incredibly rude, intolerable. At the start he was gruff but when he was telling me I needed a new battery and throwing fear tactics in to convince me to buy from him on the spot, my neighbor who I know knows more about cars than anyone, started to advise me. This man tore into him, verbally attacking him for daring to interfere, as if I didn't have the right to an opinion from a trusted friend. Once he started he didn't stop and instead of doing his job and giving neutral facts he gas lighted both of us. I couldn't even get my questions in. He was offended, took everything personally. His anger actually scared me. Many times I had to tell him to stop yelling over me. He really felt I needed to get a battery from him, saying I was taking a big risk not doing so. After he left, my neighbor charged my car with his charger and I took my car to my stress free mechanic to get a battery. Also, my neighbor told me he witnessed him putting on the cables in an unsafe way. Afterwards I went to Yelp to see what kind of reviews there were. Scroll down and see fur yourself. DO NOT! I repeat: DO NOT utilize tow services of this highly unethical and greedy tow company! After being hurt in a car accident and having San Mateo PD call a tow service on my behalf in order to clear my mostly intact vehicle from the scene of the incident along the southbound lane of El Camino Real, an Atlas Tow Truck Driver showed up on the scene. He quickly cleaned up the debris field left behind after the accident, strapped the vehicle to his truck and drove it to an adjacent street. At this point, he dialed his lead dispatcher to see how much he should charge me in order to drop off the vehicle near downtown Redwood City, where I live, which was no more than a 15 minute drive from the scene of the accident. I was standing directly next to the driver and happened to overhear their conversation through the loudspeaker. To my complete shock the dispatcher suggested that I'm charged $288 for the job! When I asked for an explanation, I was told that the reason why the rate was so high was because it was a police initiated emergency tow service which I was unaware of at the time when when I was debating whether to call roadside assistance through my insurance company or let one of the officers on the scene handle the service request on my behalf. HINT: always opt for your own roadside assistance service if you can afford to wait for the help to get there, because Atlas Tow Truck company which showed up on the scene absolutely took advantage of me! All told the entire service request took approximately 40 minutes from the moment the driver arrived on the scene to the time my vehicle was dropped off inside my garage on Alden St. The shocking $288 hourly rate which was quoted by the shady dispatcher who answered the phone was, at the very least, supposed to be prorated, and I'm trying to see if I can be partially reimbursed back for the upfront out-of-pocket charge that I incurred courtesy of Atlas Towing. I may adjust this review if the tow truck company that I had the displeasure of dealing with chooses to cooperate and issues a partial refund for the services its driver rendered on the night of January 7th. Until then, I suggest that anyone thinking about which company to utilize for their tow service needs to stay away from Atlas Towing! read more

Please do not use this company for battery replacements! I had them replace a battery in my Prius which failed within 4 days. I brought it to the Toyota Dealer's service center and they confirmed that there was nothing wrong with my car--only that the new battery had a bad cell. When I bought the battery from Atlas, they told me it came with a 3year warranty. They do not honor their warranty. They tell you that someone will call you back but they never do. They tell you that their battery guy isn't in the shop now but that he'll call back later--but he doesn't call back. They also tell you that even though the battery has a warranty, you still have to pay for their service to uninstall and install a new/replacement battery. It is a total scam. Today I called at 9:32am and was told someone would call me back later today. I called again at 3:14pm since I hadn't heard back from anyone and was told the same. I called again at 4:47pm and spoke to a person who identified himself as Mr. Dennis. Mr. Dennis told me that no one can help me because they close at 5pm. I didn't call after 5pm--I called at 4:47pm. I will be reporting Atlas and Mr. Dennis to the Better Business Bureau. I highly advise people not to use this company. read more

They came in less than half the eta predicted by the insurance company. I was blessed because there was also a training taking place so the trainee made things quicker because 2 pair of hands are always better than one. They were very pleasant, kind, personable and such gentleman. They communicated with me throughout the whole process which was pretty educational and enjoyable. They answered all my questions. I felt very secure with them towing my vehicle. I wish this type of smooth experience for anyone in need of a tow. They were also considerate and communicative to the nearby drivers and people that were parking close by. They drove safely. They were communicative with the dealership as well. I dislike that I did not remember their names. All of this happened during rush hour traffic as well. Our insurance company dispatched Atlas to us during our lock-out. At first the estimated time of arrival was 30 minutes, then 45, then an hour, then they were on their way but stuck in traffic, then another hour... They were literally located in the same city as our current location so it doesn't take 2 hours to get to San Mateo from San Mateo. What seemed like forever, but in reality was a couple of hours, they eventually arrived and got the job done in 15 minutes. They completed the job however the wait time was horrible. Went to get it and my insurance said Atlas was "on their way" waited an hour and called to be told they had cancelled but hadn't "gotten around" to informing my insurer or me. I was driving from Menlo Park to SF on 280, and suddenly the rubber coating on the back rear door of my Range Rover became disconnected and was flapping against the side of my car. I had to pull over, and pulled into the 7-11 on San Bruno Avenue. An Atlas Towing flatbed truck was parked there, and the driver's name is Derek. He came over and helped me tape the rubber edging back to the door. I went inside to get $20 tip for him, but the ATM was broken and I had no cash. At first they denied, only after I showed them online articles from Better Business Bureau, they gave me the Private Property Authorization. My son was stopped by the CHP and they had his (actually my wife's) car towed. I know my son was the mane culprit here, but Atlas Towing absolutely made a bad situation worse by charging me $305 to get our car back after about a ten mile tow and keeping the car for a few hours. Unethical business charging excessive storage fees. My car was towed to this location early in the morning. I called in the afternoon the same day to get my car. They had already tacked on two days of storage fees ($88 x 2) by 5pm of the same day, adding that I would have to pay an extra $85 gate fee after 5pm. Isn't a day supposed to be 24 hours? No, she said even if I had showed up at 8am they would have charged me $88 storage regardless. So what constitutes a day exactly? She couldn't say.
